New look 2023 for CEC. First the good news. Then the bad, sad truth. Ouch! Very Very clean. Very new. Rides have good timing. Everything looks like clean lines. Small square in middle with lighted floor to chase animated fish. Then at Bday space large TV. Now the bad. CEC looses identity with this one. Let's get into it. First I asked for a beer. Manager unaware they had none and wouldn't or couldn't fill taps. Rides and games in a straight line. No style whatsoever. No individual space for tiny tots. The animatronics are gone. Kids love the old school band. No kid while I was there danced or paid attention to TV. Replaced Chuck E Band with large screen TV showing videos of tweens, many with way too much makeup. Not a good look. Actually a couple were creepy. The "band" sequence is lost on video. ABSOLUTELY no one cared. So CEC is obviously going after that Tween demo. It used to be a whole family fun. The animatronics in Pineville is great.. But I'm sure the remodel will screw it up, too. .. Now CEC has lost its cheesy unique ness. No soul. Just ANOTHER straight line arcade with games that are so so. Much better ... Much cheaper... places for Bdays parties and lunch. Sigh. Sometimes supposed progress dooms a brand. Sometimes marketers leave the core audience behind.. Like older folks with $$ who spend $$ to bring kids and grandkids.. Not to bdays parties but for fun. Market people try to get new customers and in the process doom their brands market share because they book only Bday parties and the kids have fun but families do NOT RETURN. Oh the other news. Only three families were there during the key lunchtime hour! Seems like other former CEC regulars WHO SPEND THE BUCKS during the week have been lost as they have caught on and went someplace else. Thumbs down on the new look and feel. Need the band back together....
Read moreVisited this location yesterday for my son 3rd birthday…I did not reserve a party went to play , eat some pizza and have some dippin’ dots. Location was busy..normal for a Saturday. One of the cleaner locations. Pizza was hot and fresh. Things I noticed younger staff working which is to be expected. Better customer service training is needed. I observed one employee who worked the main register when entering get a attitude quite a few times . Walk away while customer talking to her. I do understand that Saturday was busy and may have been overwhelmed but comes with the job. Also as I went back for the 4th time lol this time to buy 3 small dippin’ dots. The young lady who rung me up started helping another employee and called for another to prepare my dots it was a young boy standing over looking to get some dippin dots and he approached the cart and told her the flavor he wanted she made a large one and reached it to him . He didn’t pay. He was asking her if the dots are free? She ignored him and continued making them and reached them to him. So he walked away and I say 3 rainbow dots. She proceeds to say you have to pay over there I informed her I did $18 she ask for receipt then says let me ask her ..shouts over to young lady who rung me out and says what she get? Young lady asked me 3 rainbow right? I said that’s what I already told her. My point is she didn’t even think to question the young boy who didn’t pay. But questioned me. We did enjoy the games, salad bar , drinks, pizza & of course dippin’ dots every visit! Spent over $ 130 i joked and said I should’ve just reserved a party lol overall my children had a great time so mission accomplished we will return one day...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the staff had no idea who we were, how many guests we were having, or what "extras" we had ordered. The cost of the products that this place has is asinine when the staff is cussing in front of the children, or arguing with you about what you purchased ahead of schedule to save time. The whole Chuck E. Cheese selling point is that all you need to do is "show up" and they handle the rest is a complete joke. I had to hunt people down to make sure that the pizzas were still coming out, then when they arrived to the table, we had to serve ourselves. The store said that they did not have any drinks because they were out of CO2, but refused to refund the cost of the 22 extra drinks we paid for. When we had finally gotten through eating the pizza, it was time to do cake, but were told that we couldn't because they had not done the "song" with Chuck E. Even after waiting for that joke of a disaster "song" we still had to serve our own cake, and the play time alloted on the kids Play Passes was over. Before leaving, we notified them that the extra Dippin Dots that were paid for as part of our Mega Fun package were not given to our guests, they offered to give us our own cups to make them. The "manager" of the store offered our son extra tickets to get some of their Dollar General "prizes" but refused to reimburse any of our funds for things we simply never got or the terrible customer service. All-in-all for a $500 party, our kids got MAYBE 30 minutes of play time....
