Worst Denny's I've ever been too. They have a "hiring for all possitions sign" for a reason! I went there yesterday at a decent time and had a bad service. I don't recommend anyone going back there! If u got a good service it was maybe because you got lucky and got someone who actually knew her job. When upon arriving, took a while for the waitress to check us in, it wasn't so busy in there, but it did look like she was the only waitress. I normally would understand the "understaffed " problem but not this time. She wasn't polite, or friendly, when we sat down, I kept overhearing this other family complaining of many problems. As to me, no utensils for my family to use, took forever to get them not until my husband go up and look for the waitress who kept disappearing in the kitchen for long periods of time. Our food was dry, and not very good, I've always had this meal, and my corn was not even yellow, it looked grayish and old, everything tasted old.. The only good meal I thought was my kids meal ( Which now I am doubting since I am up at 4am with my kids having tummy aches) This waitress kept disappearing frequently not checking on the customers, kept seeing people waiting on there orders or drinks, as well as for us. She made it seemed like she was busy, when there were actually only about 4 tables occupied. I saw her many times talking in the kitching while everyone els was waiting for her to give them drinks or a complaint, when she asked how our meal was, we told her straight out and she just said she would tell the cook and left pissed off, like if we made her mad. We weren't rude or even talked in any mean way, We didn't wanted to make this a big thing at the restaurant since we had our kids and we just wanted to leave. Worst place I've ever been to. I only saw two staff persons as I was there not counting the cook, but I didn't see the person in charge. They were not working as a team. It was already hard enough to get the waitress to attend us as she kept saying "she would be right with us" making it seemed she was extremely busy. We always leave a tip, this was the first time we didn't. As my husband took care of the bill he kept hearing the waitress complain to a coworker she didn't get a tip from the other family , how could she!!? She was not doing a good job and was not pollite or friendly, she was rude. As I got out of the bathroom and walking out the door, she was complaining of us not giving her a tip, she thought we had left, and she just gave me a look when she saw me. Best thing that happened to me was when I got out of that restaurant. If there are so many complaints, it's because their manager is not doing his/her job with...
Read moreOk, this is a bit difficult to write. I want to be fair and honest with all of my reviews. So here it goes..
Dennys is known for mediocre service and decent food so we kind of knew what we were walking into when we went in.
The restaurant was clean, and there were four other people there besides us. The waitress seated us right away, she was very nice and professional. I am sorry but I cannot remember her name. But she was very friendly and attentive to our needs.
We ordered our food, and that's when it began. It took an hour to make pancakes, a Buffalo chicken sandwich, and a patty melt. We kind of expected it, but in that time we watched the staff.
The waitress was working very hard, in between coffee refills, she worked diligently with side work as well as disinfecting tables counter tops and anything you could see in order to stay busy and be productive. She was wearing her mask per covid guidelines.
The kitchen staff is what bothered us. While they should have been preparing our food. This large man sporting his young abe Lincoln beard was just wandering around the kitchen opening refrigerator doors and looking like he was on break. Now, I know you have to get food items from the refrigerator in order to cook them, but I counted 35 trips to the walk in, then he came and stood around in the pass area and kept eating something out of a small metal tub and then walking back into the kitchen. Not wearing a mask.
Then about 45 minutes into the adventure a Hispanic man walked out and stared at a prep book to look at pictures of how our food should look and Company specs to weight of the chicken on the Buffalo chicken sandwich we ordered. Which means they have not been trained on how to prepare the order. He wasn't wearing a mask either.
The manager then came out to talk to his staff, which wasn't an issue, and he wasn't wearing a mask either.
Now, regardless of how you feel about covid policies, masks and cleaning is a requirement of the state. So it has to be adhered to. The kitchen staff was non compliant as well as the manager ( who needs to set the example for his employees)
The food took an hour to arrive. Not worth the wait.
The only one doing an outstanding job was the waitress but the non compliant kitchen and manager made her hard work void.
The waitress needs a raise. I can't say enough good things about her and these days it's rare to find someone that professional in any restaurant.
I'm really sorry I forgot her name but if this gets back to the restaurant...
Read moreBy far the worst dining experience I've ever had. The waiting area was packed despite dozens of empty tables in the dining area. Bathroom was dirty, lacking toilet paper, and had paper towels heaped over the trash bin and onto the floor. The windows were decorated with "now hiring all positions" signs. No kidding: understaffed would be an understatement. We waited half an hour to be seated by a hostess who dropped our menus on the table and walked away.
Our waitress was doing the best she could, but there were only two waitresses, so they were negligent. We waited 10 minutes for a water refill. I could see exactly two people working in the kitchen.
My broccoli side was COVERED in salt. It was inedible. I hate food waste, but I spat broccoli back into my napkin because it was like taking a bite of the ocean. The food was barely warm, and took way too long to get to us. The runner accidentally gave it to the wrong table. My friend and I both ordered burgers with whole wheat buns, and were given the ciabatta buns instead. The burgers were bland and dry. They give you hot sauce with them because they know their food has no flavour of its own, besides the heaps of salt.
My other friend ordered country fried steak. His bread side was stale and hard as a rock. His broccoli side consisted of the crumbles from the bottom of the bag.
We watched many other parties walk away from half-eaten, unpalatable food. We wanted to, but we were starving after our hike, and couldn't afford to buy more food elsewhere. We couldn't finish the salt-heaped broccoli.
We asked for the cheque immediately after receiving our food, but waited 15 minutes and got nothing. I went to the cashier, who asked me, "I gave you your receipt, right?" No ma'am: you did not.
We all paid over $12 per person for our "food."
We would not return, even in an emergency situation. Gas station fare would have been more economical...
