Roosters in Ogden used to be one of our favorite places to enjoy a meal. We've been going there for decades. But we haven't been for several years. We went there early afternoon on Saturday and left very disheartened. We walked in and there was no one waiting to be seated nor was there a hostess. There was a gal standing behind the bar and another employee standing on the other side talking to here. He looked at us and looked back and continued to talk to her. A few seconds later s server came out of the covered patio area, looked are way and then proceeded to drop a tray of dirty dishes in the kitchen. Shortly after another repeated her actions. Then the 2 servers joined the other 2 associates at the bar to chat. I started to approach the bar to ask for assistance. As I did the gal behind the bar placed a bite of food in her mouth and she walked away from the bar towards us. I politely asked if there was a hostess available. She covered her mouth and she chewed and replied that she was being polite and waiting to finish chewing before she greeted us. She told us to follow her upstairs where she handed us of to the upstairs hostess. She did not greet us on said "this way". As we followed her to the table she swooped up some silverware and napkins from a table she was passing and spread them out on our table then said your server will come. Our server was nice and polite. We ordered and received our salads promptly. The restuarant was mostly empty but our food took quite a long time to come out. We ordered a burger, the salmon sandwich and fish and chips. The burger was under seasoned, the salmon was overpowered by the thick heavy bread and the fish and chips arrived like warm. I the past we have always enjoyed the food and service, but not on that day. To many other options in th he area now so I'm not sure...
Read moreMy hubby & i wondered in here looking for a new date night place to grab some grub. It felt very awkward at first like we were walking through someone's house, ha ha ha, but once we were seated on the 2nd floor near the north east window facing 25th street we had a nice view of the evening happenings. Location & atmosphere are definitely a 2 thumbs-up 👍 👍. This was followed up with service from a waitress that was absolutely delightful and lovely and made us feel like we were her only customers, I feel bad I can't remember her name to give her the compliments too!
This is were i struggled between giving 3 or 4 stars for my review... The food was over priced for the quality and quantity and it took forever then they ran out of something my hubby had ordered!!!!! Our waitress actually apologized for everything that seemed to go wrong, especially because we had told her it was our first time there.
Yes the food was good, but not great. Service by our waitress was out standing, but being our meal took forever and they made mistakes. They building is old but, clean. It has great charm & nostalgia. It was a great atmosphere whether you want to go with a group of friends or on a date night with the spouse. Prices were a little high but I guess that's too be expected when you want to dine on 25th street, and I have to admit they did have some unique menu items.
Well that's my take on it. I gave them a 3 then changed it to 4 after writing out my review i felt 4 was more accurate i guess. 👍🍀 good luck &...
Read moreIs every restaurant lowering the quality of their food? I had the worst experience possible eating here. We ordered a shrimp appetizer and had to send it back because the shrimp was obviously old and expired and should never be served. You can get horribly sick from old, out of date seafood. We then replaced that with a dip that had crab and artichokes in it. It was un edible. The crab was bad also. Stunk so bad. Had to send that back. We ordered some soup that was supposedly the soup of the day. The waitress came out with the soup and informed us that the soup we ordered was no longer being served and it was now this one. Didn't come out and tell us that that soup was gone and would we like this kind. Just brought it. My son got a quesadilla with just cheese in it. He added chile verde sauce and it had absolutely no pork in it. It was just a nasty tasting sauce that they charged an extra $3.00 for. His quesadilla cost him $16.50 for cheese and some nasty sauce. I got a ravioli dish that gave me a total of 5 ravioli that couldn't even be seen because they were covered with some nasty vegetables and the chicken i added. It was horrible. The sauce that was on it was nasty and oily. I have eaten here many times and always had a decent meal. Now because of this one meal I don't think I'll ever go back. This is sort of becoming a theme with all the places I used to go to. The food has just become horrible and of course the prices have gone up...
