Great food and restaurant overall, the atmosphere is very nice. The beef and chicken teriyaki are to die for, particularly the former. Their sushi and nigiri is spectacular as well, and it was nice to be able to try a ramune soda. The Coconut Crunch and Blizzard sushi rolls were amazing, and according to my mother, the Thai Veggie roll was super flavorful and a great vegetarian option for those who don't want to choose between flavor and eating plant-based. The rasp-strawberry granita was a good dessert as well. Not a big fan of peanuts myself, but my parents approved of the Peanut Butter Cream. Slightly pricey, but worth it. Service was great as well. I'll definitely come here again.

Beef Teriyaki: 10/10. This is the best beef teriyaki I have ever tasted. It is literally perfect. I’m not exaggerating. It’s perfectly pink in the middle, maybe medium or so, and incredibly juicy. This isn’t even taking into account the beauty that is the teriyaki sauce. These two things combined, the pinkness and the saturation from the sauce, is beautiful. Hands down the best beef teriyaki I have ever had the glorious experience of tasting. Not even to mention the rice cubes on the side. Not sure what they’re called, but they’re like four blocks of rice that are lightly breaded on the outside with some sauce on the top. This dish is to die for.

Ebi Nigir: 9/10. It wasn’t bad. Never had it before, so it’s hard to compare. But it tasted very good with the soy sauce and wasabi. The second piece, I added way too much wasabi, and my nose was on FIRE. Still good though.

Blizzard Roll: 9/10. I ordered this without the avocado or cucumber since I don’t like them. But man, this was some good sushi. It was very delicious and filling, and everything about it was pretty much perfect. Maybe next time I go I’ll get something cooked, since the raw tuna was a little strange to get usd to. I finished the whole roll though, which means it was great.

Coconut Crunch Roll: 9/10. This was my dad’s order since he only eats cooked fish. I had a few pieces off of it as I waited for my roll to arrive, and it was surprisingly good. I didn’t know that I would like this combination, but they managed to make me like it. Great roll, especially if you’re not the raw-fish-eating kind of person.

Rasp-Strawberry Granita: 8/10. Not bad for shaved ice. Very cold and crisp, I enjoyed the flavor. It was surprisingly minty, and at first I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. However, I did end up finishing it. It wasn’t bad for a...

My husband and I have been coming to Tona for years. It was our favorite restaurant in Ogden! We often recommended it to others as the best sushi and service in the area. The past few times we've been the wait times in between rolls has sometimes been a half hour, but it was on Fridays and they were busy so we tried to understand. After our visit Wednesday night I'm sad to say we won't be coming back. We arrived and the restaurant and sat down at 5. By 5:20 we hadn't had a server come by our table. I thought maybe someone had forgotten to tell the server or there was confusion over whose section we were in (understandable). I went and asked the manager if she could please send someone over. Someone came over and I asked for my usual allergen friendly menu. He said they had gotten rid of them and he wasn't sure why. I was bummed to hear that because it was so nice to be able to order without asking the server a bunch of questions about what was safe to eat. He was able to find someone who was familiar with the allergen menu who helped me order, so that worked out. The food was pretty good, but by the time it all came out it was 6:40. The server kept checking with the kitchen, but they were running behind. We hadn't planned on being at the restaurant that long (nearly two hours), so we were disappointed. What really made us not want to come back was our last interaction with the manager. She came by at the end of our meal and asked how everything was. We said unfortunately it had just been okay that night. She said thanks for coming in, have a great night! And walked away? I would have thought that given the situation with us not having a server orginally and then having seen us in the restaurant for nearly two hours she might have asked for some feedback or apologized for the inconvenience. She really seemed like she didn't care about our experience and if we ever came back. We were both super bummed about how we were treated. We are both really understanding people. Sometimes there's confusion with which table belongs to which server or the kitchens get backed up. However, a manager that doesn't seem to care is where we draw the line. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have to drive to Salt Lake for our sushi...

If there’s a hidden portal to another dimension of flavor, we found it in the heart of Ogden, Utah. Stumbling upon this sushi restaurant was like discovering an uncharted star in the galaxy—completely unexpected, yet illuminating in every way.

We began with an oyster shooter—a celestial explosion of briny freshness, balanced with a touch of citrus and spice, as if the ocean itself whispered its secrets into the glass. The gyoza were little pockets of pure bliss, pan-seared to perfection.

The yellowtail sashimi was a revelation—silky, buttery, and melting on the tongue like stardust. But then came the torched scallops, each bite igniting our taste buds with smoky richness, as if a shooting star had just blazed across the night sky. The chicken teriyaki was comfort food glazed in a sauce so perfectly balanced it defied the laws of taste physics.

But the highlight of the evening? The ahi and apple sashimi—a daring combination that transported us straight to the culinary stratosphere. The tart crispness of the apple against the velvety ahi created an otherworldly contrast we never knew we needed (which was recommended by our waitress).

For dessert the cheesecake so divine Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness—it was the perfect ending to a meal that defied gravity.

And while the food was out of this world, the service was equally stellar. Our waitress, Cindy, was nothing short of phenomenal—attentive, knowledgeable, and radiating warmth. Meanwhile, the host, Emma B, had the toughest job but handled it with grace, offering water and complimentary drinks and snacks as we waited for our table during the restaurant’s peak hours.

This place is a top-tier, must-visit gem. A random find? Yes. But an unforgettable one. If you ever find yourself in Ogden, this sushi spot will take your taste buds to the...

My partner and I have eaten at Tona several times over the years. We made a reservation in order to celebrate my birthday, as I find high-end sushi to be a comfort food. This was to be the time we were let down. As soon as we walked into the door, a big chalkboard lined in wood greeted us. It let us know that there are absolutely no plastic straws served here, and that you have to pay for paper straws - the only alternative offered. To top it off, an illustration of a drink with a straw in it had been drawn, and all of the above took 3/4 of the space on the board. So it was very in your face. Like a slap. I'm disabled. I take great offense to policies that endanger the lives of my fellow disabled people and erase their ability to eat somewhere. Some people literally will choke and die without a straw to drink from, and the paper straws are not a solution because they "often fall apart too quickly or are easy for people with limited jaw control to bite through." (NPR) Straws have a negligible effect on sea pollution. The big issues polluting the sea are the fishing equipment that is left in the sea. Why, the very things that allow Tona to serve their sushi! Oh, the ableist irony. Until Tona goes back to offering plastic straws for free, we will not eat here. We will not recommend this place to anyone. Stop banning disabled people. Stop trying to kill us. Then we will return to your establishment.

On the positive side, the food at Tona is largely excellent. The chef's specials tonight were outstanding. Some of the rolls we got were more bland than we remembered them being in the past, but overall the food and drink and table service were great. However our experience was one of the worst I've ever had at a restaurant. For almost $100/person, you expect a nice atmosphere. We made reservations, got a babysitter for our first dinner out since having a baby, to spend two precious hours of peace away from fussy screaming newborn celebrating my partner's birthday. Almost as soon as we sat down, the jackhammering started. For an hour and a half while our dishes came out, it just got louder and louder, where by the end we could see the ceiling shake and we had to yell to hear each other. Screaming newborn is peaceful in comparison. It's not the staff's fault--they were suffering through it, too--but apparently the owner had decided that the 6-7 dinner hour would be an optimal time to get a new banner installed outside. With impact drills. It was awful. I've always loved Tona, but neither of us ever want to go back after tonight.
