I wasnāt planning on leaving a review, but I feel my experience may help someone make a more informed decisionāunlike myself. I donāt expect anything to come from posting this, but I hope it serves as a heads-up.
Late last summer, I scheduled a consultation with an artist at Savage Tattoo to begin a sleeve on my arm. I paid $400 for two deposits to cover back-to-back appointment days. This artist had previously done an amazing job on my right arm earlier in the year, so naturally, I went back to them. That was my first mistake.
About two months passed before my scheduled appointment. When I arrived, the artist informed me that they hadnāt worked on my design at allābecause they forgot. I tried to be understanding; mistakes happen, and I expected to be there for most of the day regardless. The artist apologized and gave me two options: reschedule or let them see what they could get done that day. I chose to move forward.
They went to sketch out some designs and eventually came back with two stencils. I sat down and they began working on the first piece. After finishing it, they told me they were too tired to continue and didnāt want the quality of their work to suffer. Again, I tried to be understanding, thinking Iād be returning the next day anyway. That was my second mistake.
I mentioned Iād be back the next day, only for the artist to look at me confused. I reminded them I had paid for two deposits for consecutive days, and we had confirmed the schedule verbally. Turns out, they had double-booked another client for that second day.
In the heat of the moment, I got frustrated and told the artist how they had let me down. They seemed confused about why I was upset, so I laid it all out: they hadnāt started my design in the two months leading up to the appointment, cut the session short because they were tired, and double-booked another client after I had already paid.
At that point, the owner stepped in to mediate. After explaining everything again, the owner told me there was nothing they could do since they couldnāt cancel the other clientās appointmentāit wouldnāt be fair to them. But somehow, it was okay that I wasnāt treated fairly or taken seriously. Another person was present who could validate my claims, but that didnāt seem to make a difference.
The only solution offered was to rescheduleāagain. They even asked me to pay another deposit. Reluctantly, I agreed. I should have walked away or found a new artist, but I didnāt. Thatās on me. I ended up depositing another $1300, thinking it would keep me from spending it before the next session. Big mistake.
After the final session, I decided I wouldnāt be finishing the sleeve. I wasnāt satisfied with the work. I genuinely believe the artist held some resentment after what happened, and the quality of the tattoo reflected that. It felt rushed and lacked the care I saw in their previous work.
I asked the owner for the remaining balance from my deposit, and they essentially told me it was gone. My only options were to get future work or for them to keep it. So now, theyāre holding onto $900 of my money that Iāll likely never see again.
So, if youāre considering getting work done at Savage Tattoo, please do your research and make an informed decision. There are plenty of other shops that will treat you with the respect and professionalism you deserve.
I wonāt name the artist, but they know who they are.
Edit 1: After contacting the shop, they still not given me the ownerās contact information after asking for it. like i said before, iām not looking for anything. just wanted to speak with the owner about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am very disappointed honestly. I came here to get my first tattoo not knowing really anything about them. I chose savage tattoo because I saw they had a lot of great reviews, only to find out after I got my tattoo done that they pay for their 5 star reviews. They had me do an online consultation, with the artist they thought would do best for my tattoo, I explained to Spencer (my artist) everything that I wanted and how I wanted it, which he said heād have drawn up and if thereās anything I wanted changed he could fix. I was told it would take 2-3 hours max and it would be $175 an hour so thatās what I had saved for. Come the day that Iām getting my tattoo done, nothing was prepared and had nothing but an outline of a picture on his iPad I had sent him as an idea of the type of moth I wanted. I sat there for 6 hours trying to explain to him what I wanted and trying to find a picture of exactly what I wanted, but being the creative person I am there was nothing on google sense I wanted my own design. I was getting annoyed/ anxiety and just settled for something I didnāt even really want. He finally got started at around 7 and when 2 hours had already passed I just knew this tattoo wasnāt going to be done in the time he said sense he had just finished with the outline. I had told him I only planned on paying for the 3 hours and he kept going, finally at 11pm I called it quits because I didnt have any more money to keep going and I had graduation the next day. He still had the eyes to do, which he said would āonlyā take another hour. In total I spent $875 for this tattoo which is absolutely ridiculous considering they eyelashes are all messed up and most of the lines look horrible and will not be able to be fixed. Not to also mention that he had to take a āsmoke breakā every hour. I do not find it very personal to smoke weed while trying to do a tattoo that is supposed to have a lot of detail in it. I feel very taken advantage of and now that Iām actually talking to people about it and other tattoo shops I realized I couldāve gotten a lot better from way more experienced artists for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI inquired on an Instagram post that led me to a link for a free consultation (promo). I received a text and call from the shop manager, Chris, within minutes! After speaking with Chris for 15ish minutes he had me send over some inspiration photos so he could get an idea of the style I was looking for, and pmto pair me with an artist that specializes in the style. Shortly after, he got me scheduled with Mike for my consultation. Mike was so kind and understanding of my situation. This was a special opportunity for me, therefore my tattoo had to be perfect, BUT I didn't know what I wanted it to look like š¬ I just knew what it meant to me. During my consultation I let Mike know that this would be my first tattoo, and that I knew nothing. He assured me that with his 20 years experience that I would be in good hands. Mike asked me to tell my story behind this tattoo, then gave me patience and grace as a stutterd through the tragic story of my brothers death. I was trying to make it clear how much this would mean to me. He thanked me for sharing the details with him, and explained that it is helpful for him to get a better image. He began to give an incredible description of images that were coming to mind and it sounded so beautiful. I knew this would be a good experience. We booked my appointment for as soon as we could and kept in touch with questions and ideas all the way up until today. Today was the day!! I am so glad I chose Savage tattoo. I got to meet almost all the artists and the owner of the shop. Everyone was so chill, supportive, and helpful. It was easy to see the friendship these gentlemen had. The place was clean, each artist had adequate lighting and materials, and clients were all happy about their new ink. I would recommend that you call the shop or book a consult online. Its worth it!! Thanks, Mike for a...
