It pains me to write this review, as I met the owner, Ken, in 2016 when I opened a bookshop near his jewelry store and he has always been pleasant and easy to talk too. In fact, he went above and beyond when my daughter got married and he helped her with her engagement ring.
I have always suggested The Diamond Room to friends, family, and clients because he was so kind. However, that all changed today.
Around Halloween I dropped off my wedding ring to get resized. When we dropped off the ring Ken was pleasant and informative. He let me know that he would not be able to get the ring back to me until November 10. Though I know I could have taken it to a different jeweler for a quicker turn around I have always believed in supporting small business.
I had not heard back from The Diamond Room so I left a VM on 11.20.2023 asking for an update.
Today Ken called me back. He stated they called me on November 7 and left a VM to let me know the ring was ready for pick up. When I let Ken know that wasn't true, as I checked my phone for any missed calls or VM from his establishment he became oddly upset. When I asked why they didn't call back if I didn't respond or pick it up, he became so defensive that it took me off guard. I have never spoken to a client or customer the way he spoke to me on the phone. He mentioned that he has over "40 other things to do" and that they can't just call me back. What?! Isn't that your job?
I was so upset that I called my phone company to confirm that no calls had been received by this number. They confirmed that no one from this establishment called my phone.
Instead of Ken listening and considering they may have made a mistake, he doubled down and refused to take accountability.
The difficulty, as I see it, is when things go as planned and there are no hiccups, this is the place for you. However, if you want a jeweler who will be easy to work with if there are any problems, I would suggest going somewhere else. It has been a very long time since someone spoke down to me like this. It was degrading and...
Read moreI love The Diamond Room! I decided to upgrade my 1.8 carat natural diamond to a 5 carat lab gown diamond, and I couldn't be happier. Being a military Veteran myself, I popped into Ken's shop to support a fellow Veteran. From the second I walked through the door, I was treated like a VIP. Laura was super friendly and accommodating and Ken was amazing to work with from step 1. He was able work with me on finding me exactly what I was looking for within my budget, walked me through the process, and created a custom setting that would allow my engagement ring to fit into my guard. Everything Ken sells/works with is of the highest of quality and I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! Talk about a show stopper!!! 💍💎😅
The only advice I would offer, after the fact, would be to (possibly) change up the shipping process. I moved out of state before Ken had my ring finished, so it had to be shipped. Because of the value of the shipment, I expected a more reputable company to be used (FedEx or UPS). My ring was shipped using USPS. Given any other circumstance, this probably wouldn't have been a big deal. The only reason why I bring this up is because of where I live, USPS does not hand deliver mail to the house. We have a community mailbox down the street, and because this package required a signature, USPS failed to come to my door, and returned my package to the local Post Office. It just made me a little nervous because my ring sat there over a long holiday weekend before I could pick it up. But, luckily, everything turned out just fine.
Minus that little debacle, I would HIGHLY recommend the AMAZING folks over at The Diamond Room for ANY of your jewelery needs. Quality products, quality customer service, and always great to support locally owned businesses! Thanks for EVERYTHING, Ken and Laura! And, thank you for your...
Read more1 Star: I got my finger sized and told my boyfriend my ring size. He bought a ring from the Diamond Room and proposed--and the ring didn't fit! They had sold him one that was a half size too small. (The lady checked the ring size by comparing it to her finger, not by using an actual measuring tool.) Ring size really matters for a major life event such as a proposal, and not being able to wear the ring until a few days later when we had a chance to go exchange it was really sad. (When you tell family and friends you are proposed the first thing they ask is to see the ring! Not wearing it when you are announcing your engagement to everyone is upsetting.) It would've cost an extra $50 to resize that ring, so we just swapped it for another in the right size, but it is a different style--if I was a more sentimental I'd be upset by that too.
2 Star: I added a second star because the ring itself was nice and not overpriced, and the exchange was simple--when I said it was too small the sales lady tried it on her finger again, then pulled out the measuring tool to see how big it was, then just showed me the case I could choose another one from. (Although we swapped a $50 ring for a $45 ring and they didn't offer to refund $5--and I just wanted to get out of there because I was annoyed so didn't bring it up.)
(See picture--I forced the ring on then had to work it off because it was way too tight--so this is what I showed people who...
