Update: I removed a star because I have gone twice since my original review and haven’t had as good of experiences. Some dishes have been really top notch and others have been mediocre. We really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts appetizer! The focaccia one with pickled shallots was only okay though. None of the main dishes I tried (5 new ones) since the first review were 5 star material. Good, but not great—especially given their price point. Furthermore, service was mediocre the second time and actually poor the third. We were literally the only ones there and the server made us feel like he had places he’d rather be when we took like a minute to decide on all our drinks. 👎 We wanted to try some dessert, but he didn’t offer it, and after our poor experience with his service, we were happy to leave and take our patronage to someone who’d act more like they wanted us there. I still really like this restaurant, but it is definitely NOT deserving of 5 stars. Also worth noting is that at least 3 of the items we tried to order from their relatively small menu were “out.”
I’d like to preface this by saying I do not very often give 5 star reviews because I feel a place needs to be more than really good to earn that rating. That being said—my husband and I really loved this place. We went for a lunch date and got great recommendations from our server. It’s for sure our new favorite place in Ogden. We don’t even live in Utah, but we’ll definitely be back here for more.
We started with the beet and goat cheese salad. I am definitely hit or miss when it comes to goat cheese, but this salad was done so well. Every detail was perfect. The pickled shallots, the arugula, candied almonds, the Sherry vinegar and olive oil…I think there may have been some fresh orange in there as well. I usually find that something is missing or ingredient proportions are off balance, detracting from the flavor, but that’s the best beet salad I’ve had in years. Maybe ever. Perfectly balanced.
For our main dishes: I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. Sounded like a more boring option, but I wasn’t hungry for a huge dish and the server recommended it. Okay, wow. I would totally eat that every week! The Gruyère was perfect, and the tomatoes were so fresh and lovely. Just the right amount of pesto aioli too. I was full before finishing, but I finished anyway because I could not bear to leave such a delight. My mouth is watering even now.
Hubby ordered the beet gnocchi. The server told us it wasn’t super strong on flavors, but that it was really fresh and unique. We chanced it and definitely didn’t regret it. Well done. So many fine details that just melded so well.
Even though we were way too full at this point, we had to try a dessert because everything else was so luscious and we only come out this way a few times a year. We had the simple, yet delightful, hot fudge sundae. I’d usually not order something so commonplace, but they’d earned my curiosity and desire by this point. The homemade ice cream was smooth and not overly sweet, which I really value. The hot fudge sauce was fresh and also not overly sweet. No need to sweeten extra to cover that it didn’t have great flavor—because the simple, perfect flavor was there. The pistachios and cream were just right too. Again, the right proportions of everything.
Now I know it’s possible that everything was just in point that day, but it was seriously so good. I can’t wait to go back next time we’re in the area!
My one complaint was that the dessert took like 15-20 minutes to come out. They said they were making fresh hot fudge—because they didn’t have any I guess? But overall, the service was good. They were then when needed, but in no way...
Read moreEDITED AFTER VISITING A SECOND TIME: This place has left me heartbroken after a second visit. You are gonna wanna read this. I had eaten here nearly a few days after opening and it was great. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich, both being amazing in every which way. The service was lovely, the venue of this place is awesome and very tranquil but after a second visit my minds been switched around. First, the service was not bad it was everything else. If you want a quite place for a nice date this place is not it; the floors are tile, the walls are drywall, this place is extremely loud. We had to nearly yell across the table to hear each other. This is to be expected at a busy restaurant but for a place of this “quality” I’d expect more contempt. Second, the prices are ridiculous. You want anything more than a burger it’ll be at least $20. I posted a picture of the pork chop, $26, that left us still hungry after leaving I mean it was probably only 4oz of actual meat and the corn that came with it tasted age dried. My duck ragu came out in layers, I shouldn’t have to worry about stirring my own pasta cause all the tomato paste fell to the bottom. Also, a drink order we placed we asked specifically for no salt on the rim and it came out with half salt on the rim as if they tried to wipe it off and terribly failed? The last thing is the charcuterie board, don’t order it. It was like $20 at least and it was LITERALLY 1/8 a breadstick, a finger tips worth of blue cheese, not even enough jam to put on the bread crumbs, and a mini paint brushes worth of goat cheese slathered on. They gave 4 people 4 wheat thin sized pieces of bread to eat all this other stuff with. You could only try one thing. I could’ve personally eaten that entire thing 5x over and still been able to finish my entrée. A $148 meal and leaving still hungry, I don’t know about that. If you can afford it than yeah I’ll recommend it but despite that, for a 25th street restaurant, this is Ogden, either lower the prices or fix your portions til then I most likely won’t be visiting...
Read moreTable Twenty Five, what an amazing experience from start to finish. My boyfriend and I decided to stay out of SLC and try a new direction this past Valentines day and I stumbled upon Table Twenty Five while researching unique restaurants north of the city.
We were greeted promptly and sat right as we walked in, by a friendly and smily host. Which seemed to be the theme of the night with the staff, every single person who assisted us had a genuine smile and friendliness that made you feel at home. I have to give a shout out to Jamiee our server who was so freaking nice, like I cannot get over how nice and she gave us just the right attention, not over bearing or intrusive but we never wanted for anything. (So thank you Jamiee)
We ordered the special which was a steak tartar, so delicious. The bar had some really amazing drinks as well, my boyfriends old fashioned was so yummy. Our entrees were incredible. I ordered the fried chicken and my boyfriend had the Wagyu Top Sirloin. Each entree was seasoned perfectly, the carrots in my fried chicken were cooked perfectly. It was very impressive.
Now to our favorite part: we ordered the Wine Poached Pears for dessert. Honestly I have not stopped thinking about this dessert since. They came with a whipped mascarpone, that was light, airy and so yummy. I would HIGHLY recommend this dessert.
I had to leave this review because we had such an awesome time at Table Twenty Five. Each and every staff member was so professional, helpful and happy. The owner was also there running around and she was so helpful! She recommended the pears and I cannot thank her enough.
Table Twenty Five is refreshing, tasty...
