The previous version of this review did not fully explain how afraid I was during this event, so Iâve updated it a bit.
The most bizarre thing happened to me here. I loved this place and made it a point to go there every visit to OGT. Sun night, I got kicked out because the manager claimed I was lying about something that happened six years ago.
Six years ago: I went to Maine Street when I first got my dog. The first night my puppy was allowed on the deck for about an hour, then I was told dogs âwerenât really allowedâ, it was a bit of a vaguely stated policy. The second night, I was asked to leave right away. No big deal. I wasnât mad, they warned me the previous night. I didnât believe my dog was entitled to be there, I was just hoping to get away with it. Back then, I was being a bit Karen-ish. (For anyone who has seen my service dog reviews⊠my current SD was a puppy then, not service trained yet, I was just starting to socialize him.)
Tonight, a man brought his dog on deck and I was talking to him about how happy I was that dogs were welcome now. He said it depended on the night; if it was really busy, they didnât like them to be there. I said that made sense and told him my experience six years ago. It was a bit of a confessionâŠsix years ago, I was in the wrong.
You arenât going to believe the next part.
The manager was sitting at the bar and overheard the conversation and accused me of lying about what happened six years ago. He claimed they never asked me to leave and I was randomly lying. At this point, I was happy and having fun and I did not realize how venomous the guy was. So I turned to him to provide more details and emphasize it happened six years ago. He just kept talking over me, calling me a liar. He claimed he was there six years ago and the current dog on deck was evidence that I was lying about what happened in 2018. Why would I lie by telling a story that made me the bad guy? What? And he never accused the man with the dog of lying when he said it depended on the night.
I was becoming afraid of this guy and how angry he was over such an inconsequential thing. So I said I would just pay my check and leave. As I was calculating tip (not the bartenders fault) another patron who I had been chatting with earlier asked me what happened. I started to tell him and the manager turned to me and yelled, âAll right! Iâve had enough of this, you are a liar. You were vaping on deck.â He shouted for a security person to âget her out of hereâ. He was going to have me physically and forcefully ejected.
Iâm a 61 year old female. I donât need to subdued and thrown out. I was paying my check and leaving voluntarily. I have a heart arrhythmia. The hatred pouring off this guy was terrifying and I could feel my heart start to race and skip beats.
I walked out immediately before they could hurt me. (Being physically thrown out of a bar usually is not harmful, but when you are over 60 with a bad knee, early arthritis and a heart conditionâŠ)
But my friend was still inside, so I left and stood on the sidewalk to text her. I leaned against a pole to catch my breath and let my breathing and heart rate slow. Some guy (different guy) came to the railing while I was on the sidewalk texting and shouted at me to âkeep on walkingâ. I said I couldnât just take off and leave my friend behind.
They left me alone after that. But now I am afraid of Maine Street when I used to love going there. (A note about the âvapingâ. I have a herbal allergy inhaler I got online. It is dr-approved, but not a prescription. If using that counts as vaping, then I was. But I was too afraid by...
Read moreIf you like paying $9 for a seltzer and being treated like dirtâŠ. This place is for you. Itâs got everything from watered down drinks, discrimination, dirty floors, sticky chairs and weak management. This place is great for Anyone who really wants to have their night ruined. And as an extra bonus? The manager is a savage piece of work because he kicked us out. Bottom line- we went to Maine Street to see our icon, Coco Peru (to clarify: myself and my two sisters) After spending an hour in the bar getting âso completely hammeredâ (insert sarcasm) by their watered down drinks, my sisters went in to the show- so exciting!!! We got front row seats! Myself and two friends were waiting in line hoping that they could somehow get tickets to enjoy the show with us. Within 10 minutes, my sisters were kicked out due to one of them being âtoo intoxicated.â The manager couldnât venture out to talk to us directly so he sent a nice employee out to tell us what losers we are. Should I also mention that hey revoked all of our tickets!!!? Also, the manager said my sister âfell three timesâ âŠ.To be clear, one sister who was sober as a judge is unsteady on her feet due to upcoming back surgery and my other sister is blind in one eye, so thereâs no such thing as steady on our feet in this familyâŠ.. but I digress. Coco Peru will be my next contact. Coco needs to know what happened. Coco is not going to like this at all. Youâve disappointed us all, Maine Street. Also, side note- every restaurant and bar in Ogunquit that we went to also said that you guys suck....
Read moreI never leave reviews this may be my first. I would never go back because of the behavior of one of the bouncers outside of the show we came for. We came to see one of the drag shows, and were told by the performers at the beginning where all bathrooms were. 2 in the theatre, 2 in the lobby. No mention was made of anything else. Right before the show ended I scooted to the lobby to use the bathroom bc my seat was literally next to the exit and it felt less disruptive that crossing the entire venue. When I tried to get back in this bouncer refused me reentry, said it was my fault for leaving âwhy would you not just use the bathroom in there? You made that choice!â And continued to antagonize me even though I wasnât engaging and was thoroughly gray rocking. No mention was made about not being let back in prior. Another woman joined me and he did the same thing. Kept poking and antagonizing almost looking for a fight. It was honestly wild. When we were finally let back in because âI guess Iâll let you in nowâ it honestly just felt like some twisted power trip. I would never go back because of this bouncer despite the show being fun. I have friends and family who visit Ogt and I will recommend the Front Porch to all of them. Their staff is fantastic and none of them seem to like to be creepy and dominating towards women...
