July 29-31, 2023. I have personally stayed with the Aloft brand and was looking forward to the same level of excellence as my past stays. This stay, by far, had so many issues that it can’t be overlooked.
The deposit on the prepaid reservation was $234.91. Very odd amount. I shouldn’t be told that a deposit of “somewhere around” $50.00 per night will be taken out. And was told “it’s no problem” it will fall off. It is a problem. Not for the lack of funds in that account, for the fact your system should NOT pull out more than what is required. It just so happens my husband and I got online that evening and looked at several websites, including your own and found that amount to be really close to a 2-night stay with your property. I’m not sure if this is a system issue or training issue. It needs to be resolved. Taking more funds than what is publicly stated is not a level of service one should expect, even if it’s just a temporary hold. On the other hand, with no restaurant or bar $50.00 per night incidentals is a little steep for your particular property and should be revisited. I wasn’t the only person who seemed to have billing issues. I heard 2 people standing in line at my check-in and they encountered something similar.
The fact that a bar and restaurant is advertised and not available was a surprise. Again, from Alfot not the third-party website. Also, your information needs to be updated across all platforms, parking is advertised at $10 but is actually $20 per day.
Upon entering the room, it was nice and cold. However, the air conditioning unit front was hanging by one corner and one of the filters was partially out and the other was laying on top of the unit. We tried to put it in, but the front of the air unit fell off, so we left it alone. The thermostat needs it’s battery replaced; it’s flashing.
TV was on and said my name but when we tried to change the channel it only would go a couple of channels. Then if you tried to adjust the sound, it was a 60/40 chance it wouldn’t even work. I would’ve called down to the desk, but your property has removed the phones. I called with my phone, but due to only one person being at the desk, they never would answer. So, I walked back to the lobby to discuss this issue and the double billing. A maid/housekeeper did take care of the remote and said it was working just fine. Later that night the same thing happened again and at 12:30 am we just unplugged the damn thing since it wouldn’t work.
After I booked my stay, I called the property and requested a shower stool, but they were kind enough to put me in a handicapped room. Fantastic! The down-side is that the bench is broke and I almost fell and hit my head in the shower. This room is not ADA ready. House keeping should have noticed this and the room NEVER should have been given out. You can see from the pictures, the leg to the bench is not in the metal bracket. Totally a lawsuit waiting to happen. Speaking of the shower, a curtain is needed to keep from flooding the toilet. There weren't enough towels to keep up with the water mess.
Speaking of towels, we had 3 bath towels at check-in. No hand towels or washcloths. I was told housekeeping would deliver those later as they were behind. At 11pm, we had to visit the lobby to get that taken care of. We were not told at check-in that towels were still being worked on. In my second visit to the lobby, it did get communicated.
The painted scene above the bed was hanging by a corner over the bed. If that corner would have failed, it would have landed on our heads. The window screen was out of its track and we just left it alone.
The bed was comfortable, the hot water was hot and had good pressure, and the location was good. So it wasn't all bad. The manager on duty authorized a refund which I didn't ask for. That was above and beyond. However, I'm stil waiting on correspondence from the...

Now everything else. During check in (2:00 on Saturday April 28 - management you might want to see who was at front desk or contact me, I have a picture of him) I was met by a guy at the front desk who did not dress or act very professional. Asked me a couple of times if I booked through a third party or not (I had booked directly with hotel). I offered my confirmation number but he said said he had the reservation but was just checking to see if I booked directly or not because hotel was full (was he going to deny my reservation if I had booked it through a third party? If not, why all the fuss?). Finally, got to room and found bathroom shade was coming down and had been pulled down so far it would not retract (why didn’t housekeeping report something so obvious?). Called front desk and asked to have it fixed. Waited an hour and called again. Front desk said he had been too busy to call (he didn't have 60 seconds to call maintenance?) and said he would do so. Went to have lunch and returned 2 hours later and, of course, nothing had been touched. Called front desk again and he said the hotel is full and he was busy. Obviously telling us to . . . Went to hotel bar to have a drink and asked bartender if they had a number for maintenance so I could call myself. Bar staff spoke to someone who asked what the problem was and . . . Nothing. (BTW bar was OK, nothing special but bartender was cordial). My wife was taking a bath later in the evening and the entire shade just fell down. At least one problem solved; we could see out the window! But, of course, others could see in. The next day, we left around 10:00 and came back around 1:00 to find our room hadn’t been made up, although the room next to us, which had a privacy hanger in the door when we left, had been made up. They prrobably make up the rooms of people leaving so they could check someone into that room, instead of taking care of people already staying at 5ge hotel. We asked the housekeeping person who just left the room next door if she could make our room up. Of course, she said she was going to lunch and would get to us when she returned in 30 minutes. She finally returned but we had cleaned the room ourselves. Two days and no one could be bothered to fix the shade, or at least pretend someone cared. Unbelievably unprofessional, but seems consistent with some other reviews I have read since the stay. Wish I had read these reviews before-I wouldn’t have stayed at this property.
One star for location of hotel. One star for...
Read moreI have never been as disappointed as I was with my stay and the staff at the Aloft hotel in OKC. I had intentionally chosen a hotel I felt would be the perfect fit for my perfectly planned bachelorette party. It was at a perfect location, it looked modern and fun, and the bar was located inside. The pictures on-line showed beautiful patios and common areas for groups of friends to gather at the end of a perfect night. The first issue I ran into was trying to visit the bar ahead of time to try out the drinks and see what would be available to the party I was hosting as far as flights and shots. Both trips I made to the hotel the bar was closed even though online hours showed it to be open during those times.Secondly, I tried to reach out and see what the price would be to rent the roof top patio if there were no meeting taking place since it was not available to guests. I never heard back from them on whether I could or could not rent the space and what it would cost. The next issue was upon check in there was no air conditioning in the lobby or common areas of the hotel. After sitting in the lobby for 30 minutes waiting on our group we looked like drowned rats and moved outside where it was cooler than inside.Another issue is that the bar was shown to be open on Saturdays from 11 am – 2 am. Upon meeting at the hotel, we were going to start our party at 3 pm with shots from the bar which was not open and was not going to open until 5. We left the hotel and had a great night with every other business going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for the bride. Upon arrival back at the hotel around 10:30 there was still no air conditioning. We asked the front desk if it would be possible for us to gather in the common spaces on the top floor where there was still air conditioning. We weren’t asking for them to open the patio or a meeting room. We just wanted to be able to use the common areas in the hallways where the temperature was comfortable. We were told no we could not use those areas and it wasn’t their problem there was no air and it was miserable. We also found out there was no air conditioning in the bar area, so it was also miserable. On top of that it closed at 11 on a Saturday night not at 2 am at posted on-line. So here we are stuck with rooms at a hotel where we have nowhere to gather that is not sauna temperature hot. We finally got our food and friends on the patio outside on the street where it was so...
