Hunan Restaurant — Restaurant in Olive Branch

We have been back to Olive Branch for nearly 20 years and Hunan has been part of our after-Church rotation ever since. We love the selection on the Chinese-American Buffet abundant in variety, including a whole section of Southern traditions. Their food stay fresh, perfectly seasoned and hot. I Always start with a plate of Sushi topped with seaweed julienne (not always available in this type of Restaurant) and finish with a couple "Coeur de palmier" cookies (a classic French treat) with soft serve Ice Cream. No worries, they also offer a good salad bar, fresh fruits and a variety of desserts. Hard to beat the value for the price. But what I preffer by far is their great sense of hospitality. They remember you, your drink selection and ask about family if they are not with you this time. Very few Restaurants in Olive Branch can equal their friendliness. Oh, and if you plan to be a regular, don't forget to get your frequent Diner card to build up for that free meal!

2021 UPDATE/Covid edition After taking a year off (2020) doing reviews, Hunan is the first Restaurant we ate at for this new year. I stand by everything I wrote above; this is a very consistent Restaurant in food quality and service. Due to Health Department regulations, you are now served by the friendly Staff. I must say it is best you tell them how much you want since their helpings are generous. Please note that the evening selection is slightly different than at lunch with more upscale items such as Shrimp, Beef and even Mussels (one of my favorites). One suggestion I would make: perhaps a Sushi plate with 4 or 5 different types instead of having to pick up several plates with 4 of the same...

Hunan was once average.

Today Hunan has to be the worst Chinese Buffet in the Memphis and Olive Branch area.

Everything about this place is on the down side.

The restrooms needs toilet seats and cleaning.

The booths have tape over imperfections. Invest in your business why do you.

There is no way Asians are cooking at this place. If love to see the owners sit down and eat a plate from their buffet.

Soups too thick. Food barely Luke warm. Those crab rangoons....what a joke. The General so, jalapeño chicken, and sesame chicken are all over cooked and would you believe it....too sweet. There no differentiation in the taste at all.

The rice looked okay. The mai fun and lo mein looked like they were begging for moisture.

Can we say revamp then do a Grand Opening!

Poor people of Olive Branch....either they don't know any better or it's just the closest around. Make the drive to Memphis and pick an order from Menu spot that has decent reviews.

I just really can't believe people are paying to eat...

很无礼的遭遇。 Very very rude! I tried to make a call-in order, but the one who picked up the phone hang up on me when he heard me speaking Chinese (He never let me finish a sentence and shouted out in Chinese "our manager is not here" then hang up). I called another 2 times but nobody answer, 3rd time I believe the same person picked it up and directly hang up. Called 2 more times but nobody answer.

I drove to the place and made an order and complained about what happened. I was told that they thought it was a scam but the only thing I said was "Hello" in Chinese.

I was never being to a Chinese place who hang up immediately when heard Chinese, even if the one who pick up the phone cannot understand or speak Chinese. Very bad experience, will...
