Walking into the establishment, I was met with strange looks from 4 regulars and two bartenders. This was a Friday night at 6 Pm. The regulars resembled an over 60's AA meeting.
Despite the employee/patron ratio being 1:2.5 I waited 5 minutes after sitting down to order. Seeing a special for Shock Top on tap, I asked for a pitcher and was met with a stern "No." confused, I asked why I could not have my average beer at a below average price. I was informed that they did not have it on tap and the ad hasn't been removed yet.
Disgruntled, I ordered the same pitcher of Blue Moon which was 2 dollars more. Unfortunately there were no orange slices to pair the beer with, but I commend the staff for offering... Orange.. Juice..
After visiting the restroom with walls that resemble Silent Hill, I pissed (the most fitting word for this location) in the trough and refused to wash my hands. I'm sure my hands are cleaner than the single revolving towel for drying. I have hand sanitizer - which I may bathe in after this.
It may seem like I hate this location, but honestly.. I can see why it is degrading so quickly. Ralston Keno is right across the street with excellent service and clientele. Driving by, they have an overflowing parking lot.
The Winchester will be the place I come when a zombie apocalypse breaks out, but only because it is so dead already, no...
Read moreSo, after reading the reviewers I took a shot to check this place out since I'm kind of a karaoke explorer and love food... Here is why 3 stars not 5 (and this is from a bar worker, bar DJ, karaoke DJ, and a technology tech) Let's start with service.. I walked in and joined a party that was already there and after 20 minutes had to walk up to the bar and get a drink. Servers did good after I did that but got worse as the crowd for bigger and got checked on much less. Food was as expected as a bar food menu.. nothing super great and not bad. Moving on to the reason I came, karaoke.. having a stage, lights, and able to text to signup great addition but not exactly setup that great. There is a TV off to the side so singing to the monitor you are turned to stage left when a TV could be mounted high on the pole to help with looking into the crowd. Wireless mics are a great choice, and speakers. Ugh, turn the stage speakers toward the crowd and get a monitor speaker or 2 they are cheap and helps the singer not get feedback and hear so much better. I could go on since I have been a karaoke DJ for over 25 years but they have potential and with simple changes this place could be my go to for karaoke,...
Read moreThey used to have an all-star team who made the experience amazing. They currently have an entirely new cast of... Maybe college aged staff. They can't get anything right. Multiple issues all on the same night on the same ticket is kinda shameful but understandable. This is probably the 4th time I've had this issue here since the new staff. Really wonder what's wrong when the old awesome team just up and left all together.
Food is still excellent, when you finally get what you ordered originally.
I'm all for socializing and enjoying your workday but when your conversation is louder than the BAR!!! You're working in that's a bit much. Also when it delays grabbing food at the pass multiple times...
I'm not trying to be shitty and petty but, when you're used to an amazing experience...
Also really weird they let a dude leave the bar through the front door with a long neck and get into his car...
Another 4 top waited 10 minutes for menus as the staff congregated for shot 2 or 3 of the night, around 2 minutes after they got menus passed out they took another shot. Which hey I've worked bars, you take shots, it's a perk. But like I counted at least 3 in a 30 minute visit... WHAT!? Space...
