A very disappointing meal. I went there with generally positive expectations as someone I know had been there before and nothing bad to say about it. Walking in the door, it seemed like a fairly nice place, the usual Mexican themed decor. A hostess seated us right away and a waitress came by after a minute with chips and salsa, and asked us about what we wanted to drink. So far, so good.
I love chips and salsa, and this was my first inkling that this was not going to be an addition to places that I'm likely to frequent regularly. The chips were okay, nothing special, but the salsa was bland. Bland bland bland. No kick, not much flavor, just plain bland. Okay, I was willing to believe that this was only a hiccup in what would otherwise be a good experience.
Perusing the menu, I looked for items that have the usual "chili pepper" next to them that indicated spicy foods. None of the men items that I saw had that, I'm beginning to worry. I ordered Camarones a la Diabla, shrimp in a spicy red sauce. The menu indicated that meal came with the usual rice and beans. After an agreeably short period of time, our meals arrived, and I dug in, hoping that this would spice up my evening. Besides the Camarones a la Diabla, rice and beans, there was a small foil wrapped package containing three or four flour tortillas. The server never asked me if I wanted flour or corn, another unforced error on their part.
The food was a huge disappointment. The shrimp were what I would have expected, a good portion of large shelled shrimp. The sauce looked good, there were plentiful slices of peppers and onions as well as the shrimp, and the portion of sauce was good. But... the Diabla (Devil) sauce was as bland as my salsa was. Truth to tell, the refried beans and the sauce were roughly equally spicy. Here I was expecting a spicy dinner, and what I got was mostly bland. Additionally, there was something off balance in the tomato flavor of the sauce, I'm not sure what the problem was but it wasn't quite right.
We may try this restaurant again, I know that most restaurants have a variety of chefs preparing their meals and maybe I got the boring guy this time around. But, I'm not...

We chose this restaurant based on the name, as we have an excellent local restaurant with the same name, thinking it was the same. We were seated, ordered drinks, as well did our two children. When our waitress returned with the drinks, she took our orders starting with the kids. They both ordered from the kids menu, think it was a quesadilla for one and chicken fingers for the other. We ordered fajitas for two. After ordering, we were asked the ages of the kids, which was 9 and 10. The waitress explained that the kids plate price of $6 was only for children 8 and under, an additional $1 for kids over eight. We pleasantly agreed, and asked what the difference was between an eight year olds meal and a nine year Olds meal, the reply was nothing, but they get a larger drink..Again fine. Food arrives, just okay. Do not expect fresh here. Guacamole glows and is not made fresh. Margaritas are machine made. Tortillas......again....okay. Then the check comes. All fine, margaritas, fajitas, two kids meals, two $1 separated charges for the older kids...then two mysterious separate $1.89 charges. I was a little confused about the additional charges and inquired. I was told it was for the kids drinks. Still even more confused as the kids meal comes with a drink, and we were told there was only a $1 upgrade, not $2.89 per meal. Felt very uncomfortable by the end of a heated conversation, our rude waitress removed the charges, but did not deliver the correct check back to our table, nor did the manager. Needless to say, other reviews have also pointed this out, watch your checks at the end for mysterious charges. Very...
