EDIT - A member of the Shuck's team accosted me tonight sarcastically "thanking" me for this "douchey" review. Sorry that you gave me bad service and I posted about it. Maybe rather than being mad at me take some time for internal reflection and provide better service to your customers
Original Post - I tried to go here for the last night of Shrimp Fest. When I walked in at 8:30pm the staff was busy making preparations for close at 9:00pm. The lady behind the bar (whom I believe is also a manager) barked at me for my order. I gave her a very simple order for some shrimp and one beer.
While I waited for my food the bar continued its furious efforts at closing even though it was still normal business hours. Eventually, my shrimp arrived and it was not what I had asked for. Manager-lady then tells me it must be because the buttons are too close together and she switched them up. Given how concerned they were with getting the place ready to close I told them not to bother making me any other shrimp.
I would also point out that I often see Manager-lady at a local watering hole where she berates her customers that don't treat her well. Now I know that she needs to look internally because if you don't like the energy you are getting it usually has something to do with the energy you are giving...
As well, if you don't actually want to serve customers until the posted closing time then simply change the posted closing time. Don't start to close 45 minutes or so before closing an make you customers feel like they are a burden to you.
SIDE RANT: Also, how can you say you got a "po-boy" when it is served on a hoagie. Po-boys are served on French bread. ALWAYS! Change your menu; stop cultural...

Appetizer: We ordered the Oyster Rockefeller and wasn't disappointed to have it as an appetizer. It was both creamy and light, served with lemon and baked bread. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Snow Crabs: As an anniversary celebration, we each ordered a 2 lb snow crab platter with leftovers to boot. This was an excellent choice as the crabs were perfectly cooked, served with drawn butter on a plate of smokey cajun rice and vegetables. While the rice and vegetables were a good touch, they were by no means the dish. The crabs were what we went for and they were as perfect as they can get outside of a harbor town. As we both have experienced fresh shellfish in Maine and Virginia, this is the closest we have experienced such a fresh shellfish experience in the Midwest. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If in case you did order the crabs so you can have the rice and veggies as your main dish (Note: Not recommended. Please see the name of the restaurant and reprioritize), here's the scoop:
While the rice was good, it was only made better with pieces for crab to accompany it. The vegetables were not evenly seasoned, and tended to have tasty bites along with bland ones. Mix it up and drop a squeeze of lemon for the best experience. ⭐⭐⭐
Shucks has a certain atmosphere you can't find in many restaurants. It feels down home, the staff and owner greet you like an everyday regular and treat you like a friend more than a customer. Highly recommended, and check their menu because Crabs are the last thing they serve from an extensive...
Read moreAn absolutely unsuspecting gem. Having moved to Omaha from Florida, one of my largest sources of homesickness was a lack of proper southern style seafood places I was so used to dotting almost every other street. I'd tried a handful of highly rated seafood restaurants such as Plank provisions just to be let down not only by the subpar seafood, but the super high prices for a basket of a handful of mediocre shrimp and fries. Shuck's does seafood RIGHT. We ordered some of the calamari, which had very light and crisp breading, and the calamari itself was far more tender than others I've had around Omaha. It was also served with a sweet chili sauce which perfectly complimented the crisp and well-seasoned breading. For my entree, I had ordered the Shrimp Po-Boy combo, which included a choice of gumbo or chowder. I'd gotten the gumbo after an employee recommended it, and I'm very glad I did. Every element of it was perfect. The seasoning, sausage and seafood, the consistency and flavor of the roux, and the aromatics were all spot on. The Po-Boy itself came on a flakey warm roll with plenty of perfectly golden fried plump shrimp, with a tangy delicious remoulade that also coated the lettuce. You can tell the oil was fresh, and everything was made to order. For the quality and value, I don't think there's a more clearcut choice for seafood in Omaha. My only regret is not getting any pictures, or trying the...
