This was my first time going to this place. I originally went in wanting chocolate ice cream with nuts and was offered a sample of the raspberry chocolate chip ice cream. It tasted very good and had tiny shavings of chocolate in it. Although I typically don't like chocolate chips it seemed so mild I decided to get one scoop with pecans on top to go. As I got on the interstate and started to eat the ice cream within my third bite I ended up with a very large chunk of solid chocolate and my mouth which I spit out, threw away and summed it up as some kind of mistake. I immediately found another chunk of chocolate which I again threw away. However, once I found a third & fourth chuck I realized something must be really wrong with this batch and that I should let the store know. I contacted the store and was informed that this was normal. Knowing it was my first time here, it should have been explained what I was getting. I paid $7 + $2 tip for a scoop of solid chocolate chunks and very little actual ice cream. I find it literally difficult to swallow these almost 3" chunks of so called...

The place was not the cleanest of all places, especially the cash register which had ice cream residue on it that looked as if it had been there for awhile. I had ordered their seasonal pumpkin sundae, which look like nothing in the picture when I had received it. For $6.95, I was expecting for the sundae to be served in a glass or glass-like bowl. Instead, it was served in a children's sized cup, which was very misleading. False advertising, if you ask me. For the same price, I can get a large sundae at Strickland's.
I then saw one of the employees open a can of caramel sauce and use a plastic spoon to scoop it out and place it into a cup, which was then warmed in the microwave. You would think for such an ice cream staple, such as caramel sauce, they would have or invest in obtaining the proper equipment to dispense it. With all of the better options for ice cream out there, I will never go back to Graeter's again in my lifetime...
Read moreMy husband and I came to Ohio for his class reunion. A few days ago we went to Mitchell’s because we did not realize that Graeter’s was across the street from our hotel. We figured that we would give it a try. The young man that took care of us, Brandon, was in training and he was very nice. The rest of our experience was not good at all. The girl behind the register actually looked mad because she had to put her phone down to check us out. There were two other girls behind the counter and they were not friendly at all, they were too busy talking to each other than to take care of customers, they we’re having Brandon do it all. The only reason that I gave it two stars was because of Brandon. We took our sundaes back to our hotel and we were very disappointed with what we had. The ice cream seemed tasteless (my husband had vanilla and I had salted caramel) and we honestly could not tell the difference between the two. We will go back to Mitchell’s after this where the ice cream had taste and their hot fudge tasted...
