Always been a big fan of this restaurant until last night. The food was good but I will never return after what happened. If you have life threatening allergies I would avoid this place. My friends daughter has severe allergies so we are always really careful, and are normally more at ease at places like Disney and Universal as they normally take allergies seriously. When we sat down I asked the waitress for an allergy menu, to my surprise she said there wasnât one. Disney and even the small restaurants around where we are staying all have one. When the waitress took our order my friend always explains the situation and lists the allergies peanuts, tree nuts, seafood, coconuts, pineapple and mango. She repeated it. She then proceeded to ask about items on the menu for her daughter. Her daughter wanted Mac and cheese with white rice. She checked with the waitress how the Mac and cheese was prepared and made sure that it was plain white rice not cooked with anything else. The waitress assured those foods were fine and she would tell the chef of the allergies. The food came and within minutes my friends daughter complained of a bad belly, then she started crying and saying her throat and chest hurt. She was having an allergic reaction I informed the waitress and told her to call 911. My friend gave her a large dose of benedryl and albuterol and Universal sent their paramedic Steven and he was amazing so calming, and attentive. The ambulance came and during this time we found out the âwhite riceâ was cooked in coconut milk. What I donât understand is 1) if it was made with coconut milk why this wasnât mentioned on the menu and why it was just listed as white rice? 2) why there was no allergy menu available? 3) why the waitress reassured us that those menu options were good for her allergies? 4) why the chef wasnât informed of the allergies? Iâm assuming that the chef wasnât informed because if they were I would think that they would come and tell us that the rice was cooked in an allergen. NEVER have we experienced this in Disney. Whilst dining in Disney the head chef always comes out and discusses the allergies. Thank god my friends daughter is ok after receiving medication but this negligence could have cost someone their life and is unacceptable. I have always been a Universal fan but this definitely changes things. If you have allergies beware when attending the Universal resorts, itâs not...
Read moreFebruary 2024 I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant after a few friends raved about it. I am a big Bob Marley and reggae music fan and I was very pleased with the ambiance and live music. I was very disappointed in the food service. My 10 year old daughter had a severe life threatening allergic reaction to the food she was served. My friend and I notified 2 waitresses of all of my daughterâs food allergies. They reassured us that they would notify the chef and that the food we ordered for my daughter would be prepared safely, away from all food allergens, and that the food we ordered for her was not made with any of her food allergens. Within minutes of ingesting her food, my daughter began to exhibit symptoms of a severe allergic reaction and expressed to me that she was feeling sick. I asked my friend to ask a staff member to call 911 and for help. The staff member called for the park medical team. I immediately medicated my daughter with my personal rescue medication that I carry at all times. An amazing paramedic by the name of Steven reported to the restaurant and was very skillful, calm, professional. . His interventions, and with the help of a young gentleman who I believe was also a part of the park medical team kept the environment under control until EMS arrived. My daughter was transported to the nearest emergency room and was treated for the allergic reaction. Throughout the incident and after , no one from the management team of the restaurant approached me or contacted me about what happened to my daughter.
The restaurant did not have an allergy menu. There was no indication on the menu that the food item I ordered was made with one of my daughterâs allergens. The chef nor a manager never visited my table to discuss food options for my daughter. I took the waitressâs word for it, and it is unclear whether they notified the chef about my daughterâs food allergies. My daughterâs safety was put at risk and I am extremely horrified and disappointed in the lack of measures in place to accommodate a customerâs food allergies, dietary needs, and dietary restrictions.
If you or someone you know has food allergies, be aware of this restaurant and the misinformation...
Read moreLast night five family members and I looked forward to an evening of good food and fun times at Bob Marley's but unfortunately poor service ruined that. Reservations were for 10pm and were promptly seated on the second floor with a view of the live music and dance floor which on one hand was nice but also made shouting necessary to anyone not sitting next to you (not a criticism, just an FYI). The first disappointment was our waiter put down waters for everyone (they came in cheap plastic disposable cups) but never asked us for drinks the rest of the evening despite also being the bartender. Two in our party wound up just going to the bar to order their drinks. The shareable appetizers were served without plates; those came ten minutes later. Surrounded by ceiling fans, we made due in the meantime rather than waiting for our food to get cold. When entrees were served mine was missing. After almost ten minutes, I asked our waiter for the manager and followed him back to the first floor and on the way he explained that they had run out of my entree. After waiting over five minutes and no sign of the waiter or manager, I asked a waitress for the manager. Within a few minutes to my great surprise, the waiter appeared with my entree which of course I had no interest in by this point since the communal dining experience with family had been spoiled. After a few more minutes, the manager finally appeared, apologized for the bad experience and asked what he should do about it. Putting the onus on a customer rather than proactively offering solutions is TERRIBLE customer service. Instead, I asked him what he would offer to help the situation and his response was to not charge for the entree they initially didn't have and somehow magically appeared after my family was done eating (incredible as if charging for it was even an option by this point!!) and that 25% would be deducted from the check. Most in our party had fish entrees and said they were okay and one had the oxtail and said it was very good. At no point where we asked how the food was and dessert was never offered. It's been a few years since the person that recommended us to Marley's had been there so it seems quality has declined...
