Oh boy..
So let me first say, the Orchid Court Sushi Bar is stunning. It’s inside the Royal Pacific Loews Resort (hotel down the road from the Universal parks) which is a Universal resort so you know it’s pretty top notch. It’s a restaurant in the round, so the bar where the food is made and the drinks served is in the middle and the seating spreads out around it. The place is just straight up elegant and cool.
All of the workers were super nice. The sushi rolls we got were pretty good. I really enjoyed the volcano roll. And, the miso soup is easily one of the best misos (is that a correct term?) I’ve had at any Thai/ Sushi place to date!
But I can’t give this place 4-5 stars because of what happened with our parking. So, like I mentioned before, this sushi bar is at a resort. We parked and got our parking pass from a machine when you enter the lot. We couldn’t see how much it costed because it was dark out but we thought since we aren’t staying at the hotel but are giving the restaurant our business that the parking ticket would get validated with our meal ticket, because that’s what normal restaurants like that do.
But no. We paid $50 for parking! FIFTY. DOLLARS. That was as much as our actual bill!! How insane?! So we had this lovely night at a great restaurant and it basically gets ruined by a ridiculous parking situation. So, I’d either recommend eating here if you are staying at the hotel so you already get parking, or I don’t know.. try to figure out how not to pay that ungodly amount or don’t eat there- I don’t think we will be again after that...
Read moreI was super excited to go here with my wife for dinner and was slightly disappointed. We were able to get right in when arriving at the restaurant at 5 and the environment was amazing. The staff was friendly and overall the food was pretty good; however there were some issues.
The draft system was down at the time so they did not have the beer I ordered. When I asked the server what they did have he wasn't sure so we had to play the guessing game until I named a beer he was firmilar with.
My wife and I both ordered special rolls and my wife asked for tempura shrimp which came out so far over that you could taste the burned batter.
When we were done I wanted to use my UOAP discount and a food and beverage card. The server told me that the hotel does not take the cards and they are only for Mardi Gras which is false, as I had used the card at several other hotel restaurants during my trip and on the card it actually says it can be used at the resort.
Overall it was a fair experience. I would go again, but I think the server left a lot...
Read moreThe maki rolls are to die for!!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We stayed at Loewes Royal Pacific Resort where this resto is. We didn’t immediately dine here because we thought, if we wanted Japanese food why in Orlando. But it so happened one night that we couldn’t get a table, so we booked a table here. And wow, what a beautiful mistake it was coz we ate the best Japanese rolls ever! I highly recommend the tuna tataki and sashimi and sushi combos for appetizer. The Sunomono salad is also amazing though portion is small. Then dive right in with the incredible makis! Tried the Volcano roll, dynamite roll, chicken tempura roll, cilantro roll, the Chef’s special rolls- forgot the name but am sure even if it changes, it will be difficult not to love em! The sunset roll was okay but I can skip that next time. Just Listen to the waiters! They’ll tell you what’s good and will vouch for it! Yes service was great. I seriously loved...
