Read moreMy wife and I were staying in Page and weren’t expecting a lot in terms of gluten-free options and quality food but BINGO we hit the jackpot with Grand Canyon Brewing & Distillery! We were only here two nights but ate here twice because our first experience was so great! We ate at the bar, and Chris was our bartender/server and she was just awesome. She acknowledged us quickly, had great menu knowledge (not limited to the gluten-free options, she had lots of detail and great recommendations), was VERY personable and easy to talk to, and checked on us frequently. When you eat at the bar, having a great bartender really enhances the dining experience and that’s what happened here. It certainly didn’t hurt that we loved our food as well. We started with the wings, which had a lot of great sauce options, and were delicious. Not only that, but they baked them to accommodate the GF dietary preference. They didn’t have to do that and it was so nice of Chris to offer that option. And they had a hot chicken sandwich option (which I had, and was great) instead of the usual not as exciting breaded fried chicken sandwich. GCB’s was excellent - tender, juicy, crispy, fresh lettuce and tomato, just great. Burger was delicious as well.
Pizza looked good and I had it the next night and really enjoyed. I hate saying stuff like it exceeded my expectation because people can wonder why are your expectations low in the first place, but here I will say that. I wasn’t expecting to find pizza this good in Page! Crust was crispy, and I think it’s the quality of the mozzarella that won me over. Not a lot of people pay attention to mozzarella but I can tell the difference between meh and really good and this was really good. And the right combination of sauce and cheese.
But I have to close with another comment about the staff. It wasn’t JUST Chris who was so excellent. Every single staff member really impressed us. The gentleman who delivered our food did so not only pleasantly but also wished us happy wedding anniversary (apparently he overheard us telling Chris we were celebrating our wedding anniversary)! But wait, there’s more. LOVED the merchandise, and LOVED the whiskeys. Got an excellent bottle of whiskey to go, and a couple of t-shirts. That capped off a memorably fun and excellent...

There wasn't a lot of choice outside of fast food chains in Page and the reviews for most places are mixed. Of the options available we chose Grand Canyon Brewing as we had just visited the Grand Canyon and we fancied a craft beer and some pizza.
The location is central and the decor of the place is pretty cool. Has a brewery / hipster vibe with a pool table, foosball, merchandise and loads of seating. It was quite busy - again perhaps due to limited options in Page.
The food itself was decent. My pizza was very good - I ordered the supreme - and it was so big I couldn't finish it - even with some support from my wife. She enjoyed her chicken tenders and with the fries had enough food too.
I tried two of the GCB beers. The Horseshoe Bend and Kachina Throwback. Both were top notch and ice cold - our server (we sat at the bar) was friendly and efficient. They had a good selection of alcohol free beers for people driving too.
Price wise we spent $90, tip included, for a pizza, chicken tenders, three beers and a couple of fountain drinks. This was one of our most expensive meals in the USA and we didn't feel like it was great value. The beers were affordable, food less so.
Finally we were extremely disappointed by the behaviour of some staff during our time at GCB. When serving a table, one of the servers dropped the food of an elderly man onto the ground accidentally. The bar staff then proceeded to clap and the server swiftly walked away, leaving the food on the floor to be cleaned by someone else and without much of an apology. The elderly man was then left without food for some time, and even had food items taken by to other tables while he waited. Finally, a different server told him his food would be brought soon. After 15 minutes the man's food was delivered, with barely a word spoken to him. No extended apology, no freebies, no fries while you wait etc. The elderly man was very polite about the incident but we felt it was indicative of young 'summer staff' who do not prioritise customer service and need to mature a little bit. It was disappointing given that our bartender was...
