I'm sorry that I have to tell you of a less than pleasant experience at Blue Coyote Bar & Grill this evening.
We thought we would find a "dog friendly" restaurant to take our little, deaf, Jack Russell with us to dinner on a Wednesday night and after an internet search, Blue Coyote came up. Having been there before with friends, we thought it would be a nice evening out.
It started out very well with a host who was incredibly welcoming and staff who were very attentive. We ordered appetizers, drinks and dinner and all was great. Then a woman approached and told us that health codes did not allow our dog to sit on the chair between us. We immediately apologized and put her on the ground and went to our car to get her little dog bed.
We ordered her a grilled chicken breast at the suggestion of our very kind server which came in a to-go container, which I thought made sense because she probably wouldn't eat half of the chicken, We put some chicken on one one of the many side plates provided for her to eat on the floor.
We were then approached by the same woman, who asked that she not be on the chair, who now told us that she had to "throw away" the plate that the dog was eating off of (perhaps this a language barrier issue or was she really going to throw the pate away) and took the plate away.
At that point, we could not get out of the restaurant fast enough. What started as a lovely evening turned into a dinner that was incredibly unpleasant. I'm still trying to fathom that I paid over $120.00 to be treated as we were.
I'm the general manager of a local country club and I can't imagine one of my employees making a guest feel so unwelcome and...

NOT dog friendly. In fact openly hostile. And we had called ahead, a full day in advance, to double-check if dogs were still allowed on the patio. The lady on the phone said nothing had changed and that dogs were welcome... Not the case when we arrived today!
The waiter was not friendly when my wife and I asked to be seated. Right off the bat, asked if our dog was a service dog. Of course he is not, and we don't lie. He started to say we couldn't dine there then, until we brought up calling the night before. He grumbled and sat us.
At the ONLY table on the whole (empty) patio without water misters and with direct sunlight. It is 102*F, by the way. We can't move, according to him, and are rapidly asked for our order. Food comes exceedingly quick... One good mark, unless you figure management wants us moved along. But that quick food has a flaw: it's mediocre. And our drinks? Watered down, with the second round being more ice than margarita.
The final straw? When we are waiting to pay the bill, my wife takes the dog and goes back to our truck to start it up and get the A/C going. Almost on cue, the manager comes out asking if our dog is too hot. And that the Palms Springs Police will break a car window and charge us with a crime if we have the dog in the (air-conditioned) vehicle! Excuse me!?!?!
We are on a road trip, can't leave our dog in the room, and so we came to a place we knew was dog friendly to have a meal and a margarita. We didn't call ahead to be treated like this. Take care, Blue Coyote. It's obvious you don't care about...
Read moreTradition No Mas! So we've been going here for many many years, last time right before Covid and always excellent. So naturally when we planned a trip to Palm Springs, we planned a dinner here. So chips and salsa great ..just spicy enough. Had a side of fresh homemade guacamole also great! Server was great, fast drink order and always checking in. So my wife ordered a Carne Asada Steak Platter, asked for Medium Rare, what arrived was maybe medium towards well done. She didn't want to send it back saying the flavor will make up for it... that's her secret Code for I don't want to send it back because I don't want the cook to add a "special sauce" for daring to return it...oh geez she's seen too many shows! After trying desperately to get a couple bites worth eating, she flipped over the meat and well looks like someone took a blowtorch to it. She enjoyed the rice and beans instead... y'all know I'll hear about this for awhile : - (. I ordered a Shrimp Fajita Burrito, huge beast with beans and rice on the plate. Had decent amount of very tasty shrimp, sweet onions, peppers and lots more rice and beans geez. However, to cut into this burrito takes a knife using some serious pushing and sawing...WTH?! After a couple chewy bites, I thought it best to just open it and pic through the insides. The tortilla well....I should've taken it as a to-go and given it to my Husky. He would have enjoyed it as a challenging chew toy!! In short...this Traditional stop is a RIP for us...I can only advise you try Taco Bell,...
