3 stars for the service. The food seemed to be more “Americanized” Mexican food. My family and I came for lunch, first time dining here. Seen the restaurant for a while now and really didn’t attract me to go until the other day I thought let’s try. Well i should have listen to my gut feeling but since Olive Graden wasn’t open for dine outside yet and this was and I really didn’t want to get “fast food” I decided to try. Luckily it wasn’t full, so we had ample seating room. The server was attentive but did somehow seem little distracted idk , but overall good.
I had a question about a dish on the menu and the server wasn’t so sure of what was it made up but kind of like went along with me saying yeah , yeah I am sure that’s what’s inside / made of. But I guess the look on my face made him decide to check with the chefs. Hey if you are going to be servicing you should know the menu right? I mean what if I am allergic to some type of ingredient or meat, seafood whatever case may be. And there wasn’t an exact description on the menu for that dish. After that I chosed something else and honestly the food tasted bland.. no flavor (besides but salty) the rice was firm but lack flavor, the beans tasted like from a Can and just mashed and topped with cheddar cheese to camouflage it. That’s a 👎.. I got enchiladas... and the sauce was quite salty and also tasted like from jar/can. Where is the authentic Mexican taste? The creama Mexican not American sour cream. Real tortillas hechas a mano! Not Guerrero brand tortillas or whatever brand they use. The real red enchiladas sauce not something watered down. It was a real disappointment... I wanted something spicy something with kick that left an aftertaste like wow that was a great meal, not something that taste like overpriced Taco Bell. Im sorry people but I will not recommend this place not come here again. Not...
Read moreMedrano's, first and foremost, has absolutely delicious food. What they say is true that you can tell very quickly how good a Mexican Restaurant is by the quality of their chips and salsa. These chips are very crisp, not greasy, and shaped as the perfect vessel for dipping or shoveling the salsa in.
The steak fajitas are absolutely wonderful. The steak is beautifully seasoned, standing tall on its own if it had to. However it never needs to since the medley of onion, peppers and tomatoes compliment it perfectly. The side of rice and beans with pico and guacamole is a solid accompaniment.
But here's the other part. It's a bit chaotic in there. I don't know if there's a method to any of the madness, but there were 4 to 5 wait staff overstepping and overwriting each other at every turn. Having one at a table, maybe two waitstaff is more than enough. It got very overwhelming every 3 minutes to answer the same questions over and over again due a potential lack of communication in the back.
This, however, did not get in the way of how friendly the staff was. They were accommodating, helpful and very pleasant. The food was delivered promptly, and exchanges were always polite.
The atmosphere was a bit claustrophobic feeling, but this could have been due to being seated in a main pathway for all employees, and the Sunday Brunch Mariachi band playing at each table, making it feel a bit stressful. I mightve just come at an inopportune time for my own preference, but I figure it would be worth the warning.
All in all, Medrano's is a very positive experience, and the food alone is enough to not only come back, but absolutely crave. This one is...
Read moreAbsolutely HORRIBLE experience. I and a dear friend went there to eat dinner this past Sunday. The largest complaint was the waitress forgot to put in our food and didn’t check on our table for forty minutes TWICE. For an appetizer, we ordered the house guacamole. The waitress brought us a saucer with a scoop of smashed avocados- when I asked her what this was, she explained she didn’t know what the house guacamole was and would re-order. Over 30 minutes to get our appetizer. We then ordered our food, we were enjoying conversing but became really concerned when she hadn’t come back to our table and it had been over 40 minutes. Someone from our table had to go to the kitchen and find her. She came back and asked if we needed anything and we replied “Can we get the food we ordered 40 min ago?” She apologized profusely and blamed the kitchen and called it a “miscommunication” even though it was clear she didn’t put in the food and our cups were just as empty. We received our food AN HOUR after ordering, she apologized profusely. Some of the food was not edible because she did not order the specifics. You know it is bad when the waitress apologies again as she gives you the check. We looked at the receipt and didn’t even question the amount, we were so ready to leave. I’m so...
