Emeril's New Orleans Fish House - MGM Grand Las Vegas
Emeril, and your team, let me start with this… We’ve dined at Emeril’s now twice… With 100% Certainty, we will be back every time we frequent LAS; Guaranteed; regardless of where we stay, period.
OK now for the why...
My beautify bride and I wanted something light, not to filling, basically shared plates. We decided to dine again at Emeril’s because our prior meal was really, really good; and we were well taken care of, as it was still at the height of the F’n Covid; not like the Flu would have stopped us from carrying on with our lives anyway.
Early reservation, we’re looking to put together a set of sharing plates. Rob our server recommended the special tasting menu, and also mentioned that it came with a wine pairing. We took Rob’s recommendation…
Alright, the starter was a Figi Apple & Tuscan Kale Salad; were not exceptionally fond of Kale, But BAM… Right from the start the dinner was batting 1000; the pairing was a Blanc de Blances, Le Grand Courtâge Grand Cuvée; awesome. Rob and his associate checked in on us, big thumbs up.
Second was Fresh Branzino, with Israeli Couscous, Tomato Cream Sauce, and Shaved Fenal, the pairing was Sauvg Blanc Quintessa Illumination, Napa. The Branzino was perfectly cooked, and the paring spot-on; still batting 1000.
We added the asparagus in between the Second and Third. Cooked again to perfection, seasoned lightly with salt pepper and butter, Still batting 1000. Rob checked in on us again and I let him know that Emerils, the staff and chef were on their game and that they’d have to work to ruin the meal.
Third course, Grilled Prime Petite Flight Iron (Rare) with Cheddar Cheese Potato Creamers & Crimini Mushroom Ragout pared with Cab Sauvg, Jim Barry Cover Drive, Coonawarra Aussie ’16. Split the prime petite and it was cooked perfect, alas the section I cut for myself had some of silver string in it; made it difficult to cut through; I cross grained it and removed the silver thread. Taste and paring was again top notch. A FOOD SNOB would have knocked the meal down to a 190; maybe I’m to lenient, as I know if I would have said something to Rob, he would have corrected the situation immediately but it wasn’t worth it to me; alas I didn’t make a fuss. Did I mention that my brides ½ was fork tender and that the chef actually served up a perfect rare.
Fouth and Final was the Pecan Praline Bread and Butter Bread Pudding with Meyers Run Anglaise. I/we like Pecans, Bread Pudding, not so much. Again, we were in for a treat. Not overly sweet, nor anywhere near icky, it was fabulous. The paring for this one was extra, but a great match; 20yo Tawny Port, Niepoort Portugal, yes it was worth the Jackson.
Expense wise, one can say it was an expensive evening out, for LasVegas not so much. We weren’t famished when we started and the portions we choose turned out to be an awesome choice as we didn’t want to be rolled out. Rob and the staff were awesome and no one dismissed our lack of flamboyance or sharing dinner.
Emerl, your team is awesome. Again. I’ll restate: With 100% Certainty, we will be back every time we frequent LAS; Guaranteed; regardless of where we stay, period. It’s not up to me but the dinner was a “Worth a Special Journey”; AKA Three Star Michelin worthy.

Read moreWe stopped in literally straight off the plane. With the time change we were starving, although it was early in Vegas. We were able to be seated right away (Thursday) and were immediately greeted with very attentive service. We had a team of three who make sure we were completely happy and cared for. We were so parched from travel all day and Matt was on top of keeping our ice water filled. That may not seem like a big thing, but in the moment it was fabulous!
My husband and I shared the Hawaiian Ahi Poke as a first course and the flavors were vibrant and delicious. The sauces were so good I truly could have licked the plate! The taro chips were the perfect crunchy addition and the tuna was fresh and so tasty.
My husband got the Creole Seafood Boil and really enjoyed it. Again, the sauce! I wanted a big ole piece of crusty bread to get all of it. They served Parkerhouse rolls which were warm, sit and delicious and also very good at cleaning up that sauce. The shrimp were a great size, the sausage was so flavorful but the corn was hard to eat and the clams and mussels were just so so. For the price, he expected to have more seafood in the dish. That expectation aside, it is a very flavorful dish he enjoyed every bite.
I ordered the Creole Seared Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Oscar Style and was so glad I did! I debated between that and the Chilean Sea Bass since we got tuna as a first course. However, these were two very different dishes so it was perfect. Now, where my husband felt his portion might have been lacking, mine was abundant! It was a nice size tuna steak and had a generous amount of lump crab meat. Literally I never had to dig for any to have a taste with every bite! The asparagus was cooked perfectly and there are two types of sauces - so really two dishes in one. One sauce very savory while the other was bright and citrusy. The hollandaise was smooth and added a richness to the dish. The tuna was actually warmed more than I expected but it was still rare and so yummy.
Michael and Andrew took great care of us and were engaging and down to earth. We really enjoyed this place and look forward to trying some of the other fantastic...
Read moreI was in town to attend a concert on the 25th so I celebrated Thanksgiving alone. I booked a table at Emeril’s at 8pm. Arriving a bit early, I was taken to a nice table adjacent to the glassed-in wine cellar. The restaurant was pretty full but service was efficient and attentive.
I started with the Champagne of the day, a 2014 Gaston Chiquet Special Club Brut ($39/glass). A bottle retails for $84 so it was a significant markup. But understandable when ordering by the glass and I was given a generous pour. It was a nice glass of Champagne, somewhat austere yet with lots of fruit.
I chose a half dozen oysters ($28) for my appetizer; I don’t recall if the menu listed the types, but it was an assortment because of the widely varying sizes and taste. I love oysters and these were very good.
I ordered one of the daily specials as my entrée; it was seared ahi with crabmeat and asparagus with two sauces ($68); one for the fish, the other for the crabmeat. Cayenne pepper was sprinkled on top. This was delicious and I ate every morsel. To pair with the fish, I had a glass of Chateau du Margaux ($39). I didn’t see the bottle as the wine arrived in a small carafe (probably from a cruvinet) so don’t know exactly which vineyard but it tasted like a Margaux; enough said.
None of the desserts interested me but I wanted something to finish the meal, so I ordered a scoop of vanilla ice cream ($4) and a double espresso ($9) as I told my server I was going to make an affogato, so I wanted the ice cream in a tall glass. Well, it came in a shallow dish so when I poured the espresso, it spilled out all over the tablecloth. In retrospect, I should have put spoonsful of the ice cream into the espresso cup.
Final thoughts … I enjoyed my meal at Emeril’s. I did not have the ubiquitous gumbo, but I enjoyed almost every facet of my ($203, exclusive of tip) meal....
