In Vegas and I decided that it would be a good place for me and our traveling crew to check out. We were not disappointed! I ordered the chicken and waffles because if you go to a place that says chicken and waffles as part of the name of the restaurant, then I feel like you should definitely order the chicken and waffles. The waffle was not as thick as I had hoped it to be, but I could definitely taste the hints of vanilla and cinnamon in the batter and it was nice and crispy as well as light. The syrup had a little bit of skin on top, but that typically comes from microwaving the syrup to heat it up, or it can sometimes come from imitation syrup, but I believe this was advertised as maple… although it could’ve just said syrup, I’m not sure. I know pure maple syrup is typically a little bit more thinner than the imitation stuff and this was definitely a thick substance. One member of our party order the smothered chicken and dirty rice, and the feedback is that it was amazing. Another ordered the chicken with a side of okra and a side of rice with butter, and he wasn’t disappointed. The third ordered the chicken and macaroni and cheese and I think she also got a waffle as her side and she really enjoyed her food as well. So all in all the food was pretty tasty. I will stress that they WILL NOT seat you if your entire party is not present inside of the restaurant. I was inside the restaurant, but because it was a little bit crowded the rest of my party which consisted of a total number of four of us, was standing outside. I was led to the table and then was abruptly told that I cannot be seated because my entire party was not standing there with me so, I just went back outside waved them in the restaurant. The hostess was a bit abrasive in the customer service area, but she could’ve just been having a bad day, a long day, or that could just be her personality… I don’t want to speculate. After brief moment, we were all available to be seated. Again, I cannot stress enough, please make sure your entire dining party is inside of the restaurant, beside you, locked, arm and arm, and order to be seated at a table. Ha ha, just kidding, about the arm locking , but only slightly. It was unfortunate that the table we were set at was uneven, and a bit wobbly but, as you know, you can just quickly remedy that with a folded piece of cardboard, and so that’s what they did for us. All in all, this was a good experience, our server was trying to be as attentive as he could, but he was a little frazzled, and that’s OK. It’s Vegas. It was packed and I’m sure he had a long day, or it could have been his first day… again I don’t wanna speculate. But a shout out to you George. Thank you so much! I also would like to give a shout out to lady that came by to check to see if everything was OK, I asked if she was Lo Lo, and she laughed a little bit and said she was one of them, that was delightful. it speak volumes when someone involved in the operations of the restaurant actually comes by to see if everything is OK. I know this typically happens at higher end, restaurants, but honestly, more times than not, it’s the community restaurants that get us through the day and provide the best food. Finally, as I always say …please take time to support local businesses they are the backbone of our community and I don’t typically visit the same location twice however, I may forgo my usual stance on that and check out this spot again when I’m in Las Vegas. Sidenote, attempted to visit this place for brunch and it was extremely packed! Unfortunately (for us, but not them) they do not reserve tables so, if you’re planning on dining here, you either have to be extremely patient, or do like we did and come in the evening., The menu appears the same all day. Another sidenote… Did I mention that your entire party has to be there prior to...
Read moreI have been to LoLos before when it was on Rainbow years ago, their food was pretty good. So this review has nothing to do with the food as due to my experience I ended up taking my food to go.
Background: I’m a Vegas local and an avid reviewer of experiences. My pregnant sister was on her way to the airport to head out and this was my only chance to see her. I recommended Grits Cafe but they had just closed so I joined her here.
Experience: Upon entering the restaurant we’re greeted overwhelmingly by at least 5 hosts crowded around a podium chatting. We were seated and greeted not too long after by our server I believe George was his name. For the most part he was attentive although he did forget to put in a side the side of shrimp I ordered. Upon waiting for our food someone came up and offer to take a free picture of us. He took multiple pictures including some of my sister and her partner. Upon waiting for our meal I ran to the car to grab a bottle of Lemonade to show my sister for my son’s Fundraiser. On my way back in I’m ambushed by the gang of host at the door and curtly informed me I couldn’t bring in any outside drinks. I asked if we could keep it on the table and not open it… to which they rudely responded no and made me walk back to the car in 108• whether 😩. Now keep in mind 1.I had already ordered a gigantic strawberry lemonade to which I was very much enjoying. At this point I’m in a business meeting and this is my product/ prototype! Now I can’t even show off my baby lemonade 😮💨
Next thing you know a little kid walks up to our table looking hungry selling candy bars!!! When we asked how much he said $10 🤔. So we gave him a couple dollars and said keep the candy. Eventually I see the security/host push the little kid out and give him some money.
At this point our food is here and my shrimp was never ordered, I just asked for a to go thing. The energy there was off. My sister and her partner enjoyed their food, especially the chicken. By the time we were getting ready to leave the picture guy never came back. When we saw him and ask what happened to the pictures, he gave us the finger to proceed with the table next to us, who’d just come in. Eventually he brought us a picture and kept it pushing .. we didn’t even get to inquire about other pictures, as we wanted to purchase a couple other copies if possible. They also over charged our card even tho we paid a cash tip. When we inquired they said it was a holding fee and it would be reversed. Overall It was just a low vibrational experience for me but maybe my expectations we too high.
My Issues: Rude service Long wait time to be seated Trash around restaurant My to go container had food on it No seat covers in bathroom (it also smelled like dirty mom) Trash all over parking lot didn’t offer physical menu, someone in our party has a vision condition and was unable to use qr code menu.
Positives: The Lemonade was good the food came relatively fast beautiful art
I won’t be back...
Read moreFirst-time visit—unfortunately, likely my last.
I was really looking forward to trying Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles for the first time, but the experience left much to be desired. We arrived around 1:30 p.m. and waited about 45 minutes to be seated—and from what I hear, the wait is usually closer to at least an hour. I understand busy restaurants sometimes have long waits, but the policies in place—no ordering until your entire party is present, no splitting checks, and no notice of out-of-stock items—made the experience frustrating.
Major menu items were unavailable, including the chicken patty for their sandwich, chicken strips, deviled eggs, and sautéed spinach. These weren't disclosed when we joined the waitlist, and I had my mind set on the chicken sandwich. Being told only after we sat down that it was unavailable was disappointing. If items are frequently not ordered or available, they should be removed or clearly marked.
When it came to the food, the portions and pricing were incredible, and the wings were a decent size—but that's where the positives mostly end. I ordered the sausage and gravy biscuit (which came with eggs, breakfast potatoes, and I added 2 wings, $5 per wing), plus a sweet tea.
Here’s the breakdown:
*Gravy: Not what I expected or traditional. I'm used to a white and black pepper-based Southern gravy. This one had bell peppers and a slight kick—definitely not kid-friendly or traditional in taste. The turkey sausage in the gravy tasted more like ground turkey and didn’t resemble sausage much. The caveat is that I like the Jimmy Dean type turkey sausage for comparison. *Wings and potatoes: Overcooked and the chicken was very salty. Tasted as if the oil hadn’t been changed or was too hot. If you have high blood pressure or dietary restrictions, proceed with caution. *Sweet tea: Extremely sweet, even for Southern standards. It’s summertime—this much sugar isn't refreshing, especially for those with diabetes, sugar sensitivities, or dietary restrictions. *Buttermilk biscuits: A highlight! Soft, buttery, huge, and delicious.
Service was below average—not rude but not attentive, brief, and low voice. On a positive note, it was heartwarming to see the staff celebrate two employee birthdays with cupcakes and cheer. It’s clear they value their team, and the atmosphere—with its music and historical touches—had a nice vibe. Once we placed our order, food didn’t take long to arrive.
As someone who genuinely loves Southern soul food, I wanted to love this place. But due to the lack of transparency, limited inventory, and underwhelming food, I left feeling disappointed. I don’t eat out often, and when I do, I want the experience to be worth it. Sadly,...
