I waited to make this review until we had eaten here a few times since we chalked the first 2 visits to potentially poor service.
We had a party of 9 the other night. We had 5 children and 4 adults. The kids very much enjoyed playing outside. They liked the food once they received it. The adults enjoyed the food too. We had a variation of burgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and the chicken wrap.
The hostess was nice and accommodating.
The service was not good from many aspects to the point it became very frustrating. We placed our initial order for drinks, and that went well. After that, things went south. I watched our pitcher of beer sit on the bar counter for 10 minutes before I got up and asked the bartender if it was ours. He confirmed it was, and the lady at the counter encouraged me to wait on our server to bring the pitcher to the table. I explained we hadn’t seen her in nearly 15 minutes at that point. My son then went to the bar to try to get a refill of Powerade and was told he would have to wait on the server. About 10 minutes after that our server returned to ask about refills.
Our food took around 40 minutes to come out. The manager brought our food and was annoyed when we asked for the ranch “drizzle” we ordered. We made sure to ask the server for the “thin dressing” when we placed our food orders since reviews said the thinner one was better than the thick dressing they serve. She called it the ranch “drizzle.” The manager brought the thick ranch that has the consistency of Elmer’s glue. When she brought it out we explained we ordered the ranch drizzle—the thinner version. She said, “well, I wasn’t told it was the dressing.” We also let her know we didn’t have our daughter’s traditional wings. She again got annoyed and said she would be back. She brought out our daughter’s wings about 15 minutes after everyone else had their food. She apologized and said she would take care of those for the excessive wait. We thanked her.
When we got the check, the kid’s wing meal was not taken off the bill. We were charged $0.69 each for the ranch dressings. We were charged for 8 dressings. My family had 5. We were also charged $0.50 each to add lettuce, tomato, and cheese to the kid’s cheeseburger.
We paid the bill and asked for no price adjustments.
My husband was upset with the experience since this has become consistent and spoke to the manager after the rest of our party walked out to let her know this was not the first time we had a subpar experience. The manager said she would not apologize for the experience. Her server had 2 tables and was overwhelmed. She also explained the “good ranch” is also $0.69 each.
Taco Mac was not busy that night. The manager had a poor attitude and threw her server under the bus when we didn’t receive our wings, refills, or ranch, and then became very defensive despite my husband explaining we would love to see this place succeed. Our family is local to the area. We love the location. The outdoor area is great. The ranch (both variations) is terrible. The service is consistently not good. The manager is not helpful.
I see where TacoMac comments on bad reviews to email them at marketing@tacomac.com. I emailed them there before posting this review and never heard back.
I’m hoping this review helps this location grow and get better. We are...
Read moreSo I am big on reviews! Shoutout to the manager tonight! Unfortunately i did not get her name! But she was there about 530-630 time frame , short black lady! She was so sweet and helpful from time i came in helping me choose what wings. I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time because i heard the wings were good. From hearing such great things i didnt expect to see they had a 4.0 on reviews before i went but i still went though. Service from the manager amazing. The bartender was an issue but we will get there. So my wings came out ate one and went to try the other flavor and it wasn’t done and i didn’t make a scene i just asked for the manager and let her look at it and decide what we were going to do. She asked me did i just want to do the 6 piece instead and i said yes and she said she will make sure they turn them twice to be sure they are done. Got my ticket and numbers were not right. I initially told the bartender and her exact words were idk anything about this I’m gonna go get the manager. Now manager walks out and me and the manager start discussing the ticket & the manager first words when she came out was “let me fix this”. So that means she knew the ticket wasn’t right. The bartender is starting to say “he already gave her a discount” and I’m thinking if you know so much, why did you not help to begin with? Why open your mouth now when the manager comes as if you don’t want my ticket to be corrected or I’m just complaining for no reason. When i did my calculations i was right and the manager fixed it to what i thought it should’ve been. And you know what’s crazy , i was going to tip her well although she looked like she didn’t wanna be there because i get it, you’re a bartender and probably didn’t make any good money today (is what the vibe was giving)… but anyway i threw that thought away with the way she reacted and her facial expressions to her co worker after and just in general (i could’ve been wrong on the expressions). Altogether, if you get a manager for something you don’t know how to do, let the manager handle it and step away. The silverware was dirty as well but i always ask for plastic but still.. needed to be mentioned. All around , great environment, clean inside.. everyone was just not having a good day money wise probably though. And like i said i get that. I’m a hustler myself and when you’re working in places like that, you have to learn to stay uplifted regardless and that’s when you get the most unexpected things when you don’t...
Read moreCame with a few ladies I know to get some tacos today and had a wonderful time! The place is actually smaller inside than I imagined, but for its first weekend open and a Sunday right after church, the wait wasn't nearly as long as I'd expected.
The parking situation is kinda terrible, but that didn't detract from the food, service, and wall-to-wall TVs. Just be aware that you'll probably hear about no fewer than 12 hit and runs on Amphitheater in the next year or so, because drunk people are going to either be filing from hockey games to the bar or vice-versa to their cars in the overflow parking. Also, on nights when they have hockey games, it'll probably cut down on patronage because most people aren't gonna pay $5 to park their car just to go to the restaurant. (OK, I'm off my parking rant.)
In any case, the food really was delicious. I had a beef, chicken, and shrimp taco for like $10 and each of them were amazing. The beef and chicken both had a little spicy kick to it, as tacos should, but not so much that the spice overpowered the other flavors. They all had distinct ingredients (some with cilantro, some chives, some slaw, etc.) and the pickled onion was a perfect crunch to top it all off, too! The rice was a little bland, but after squeezing some lime juice on it, it livened up the flavor a bunch.
The young lady at the bar forgot a drink, but our waitress was so proactive to get it out quickly and did I mention our waitress was basically the best conversationalist on earth? Make that lady manager! (I'm so sorry I've forgotten her name, but she put us onto those "cronuts that made us go nuts" with a quickness!)
Also, sorry for the blasé people at my table. It wasn't our waitress' fault. They're just like that. 🤣
The place was loud as all get out, but you can't expect elevator music in a sports bar during NFL season.
They had 60 or more beers on tap, but I actually opted for a Prairie Rainbow Strawberry Sherbet, which really hit the spot. In the back, I saw people playing cornhole and children even rolling down a grassy hill. There's ample seating out back and more TVs back there to boot!
The place was super clean and everyone, from the hostesses to bussers, were all so friendly and accommodating. If this is the way they START strong, then I only expect the place to excel. So thankful for a new place to...
