"Good customer service can replace bad food, but bad customer service can't recover, no matter how good the food is."
I've said this before and I'll say it again and again. I, in general, i love AZ. However, the one thing I really don't like is how people will make the mediocre more than it is. Storytime: After a pretty revealing afternoon out, I grab the girls, and they want hibachi.
I was looking for something comparable to Benihana, cuz im not messing with them anymore. Well, I head to Google to check out some reviews, I was looking for something that would be a lil cheaper in price, too, and I guess you get what you pay for.
So we get there, and the hostess tells us it's a 30 min wait... Ok lady, if you say so. She takes my name and # and says she will text. We go back to wait in the car and 25 mins pass, so we head back in. Ohhh, they are ready now...
They proceeded to take us to "the table" where another party who walked in the same time as us and also another party had been there and looked like it had been about 12 mins, as drinks were widdled down and plates had remnants.
I'm thinking, did they forget about us??!!
Well, the waitress comes over and says, "Are you ready to order?" (Umm lady, we just sat down) No, we are not ready yet, thank you.
She walks away, and we look and see some soup sitting in front of our place settings...
She comes back 3 mins later, are you all ready to place your order? its all the same, so we get what we would get at Benis, some teriyaki, some chicken/steak combos, and some kids' plates.
She leaves and comes back with drinks and salads. The salads were swimming in a pool of what was supposed to be a vinegarette. None of us ate the salad. I then got her attention and asked if the soups were placed here when we sat down and she says yes. (which was a lie)
I could tell at this point that she had an issue. You know how you can just feel when someone aint messing with you. On top of that, we were the only black people in the entire place outside of another hostess.
All I wanted was good food and good service, at a good price.
The chef came to the table and made attempts to lighten the mood. What he did instead was throw rice at 6 of the 8 of us, tossing it everywhere, on the floor, in our drinks, and the joke ran too long. Almost took our eyebrows off with the amount of fire he ignited and served the food in reverse order, usually veg and rice are served first, vegs was served last. The veggies included mushrooms, and they didn't ask if anyone had any allergies, which is typical in most restaurants.
In any case, he cooks the food. Absolutely nothing to write home about. He spent 12 mins dousing my chicken with teriyaki sauce only for it to just taste like chicken. The rice and vegs had little flavor, nothing distinguishing about it.
At best, the sushi roll did its job, and that's because Sushi Chefs take their job quite seriously.
Since the other parties were wrapping up, given they had a damn head start. She drops the bill, and i ask for boxes. It's 4 of us, and she brings 2.....ummmm, we aint sharing leftovers, lady!
Seconds after she drops the bill, she asks me if it's ready. Girl, im still eating. I got 12 damn minutes left!!!
Anyway, the food is as overpriced as anything, and yall know i be eating. Im mad that we paid for that mess and will not return to the establishment or any others with the same name.
sorry it was so long, and thank you to those who made it to the bottom. I ain't no critic, just a girl who...

Last night my wife and I came to Ah-So for dinner. We visit this location at 75th and Bell about once a month. Service has consistently been going down hill. Orders not being put in, slow to get drink refills, food tastes not consistent like one of the cooks doesn’t cook it right. Last night was already an off night. We order a lot just to sample. Only one appetizer came before our meals came, which were warm at best. I had to keep asking for our other appetizers. One of them was obviously sitting in the back because it was cold. One of them never came. The soup was off. Tasted like pure chicken stock, not Miso. My rice was dry and little flavor.
As I’m eating I notice a COCKROACH crawl on the top of the bench seat my wife was sitting in!! I told her to move into my booth bench and asked our waitress for the manager because I saw a cockroach crawling on the top of the booth bench. She kind of laughed and said ok and walked away. We then watch as more than one cockroach comes in and out from behind the booth seat. The assistant manager, who was at least very nice, introduced himself and before he said anything else told us that our entire meal was going to be free. He then tells us that he was so very sorry about the cockroaches and that they had a problem with them in the past but now they are spraying once a month and that they must of come in from where the deliveries come in because they had a big delivery today. He then tells me that they have been having a problem with them because of the drainage area behind the restaurant. We were so disgusted we left everything at the table and walked out. The Assistant manager apologized again as we were leaving. This restaurant should be closed down or at minimum closed and completely gone through and inspected before allowing people to eat there knowing that cockroaches could be inside the place. I loved Ah-So but we will...
Read moreWe arrived with 10 people for a party of 12. They refused to seat us, even though the table had been set, until our full party was present. I escalated the matter to their management, which resulted in no resolution. So we stood in front of their reservation table for 20 minutes, until our full party was present. I felt that the server was pushing us too fast to complete our order, but he was very pleasant and accurate with our ordering. The soup came first, and it was a salt bomb. Some of us refused to eat it. The chef thought he was the man. He was throwing balls of rice at us so we could catch it in our mouths. That's fine, but then he started throwing individual grains of rice at our faces, on top of our heads, and over our heads, in a ruid manner. I yelled at him to stop, but he thought he was untouchable, so he kept going. I had to stand up and give him a "stink eye" before he would stop. I will definitely be addressing the seating policy and throwing around the rice in an unacceptable manner to their corporate office. This was a family reunion, after 4 years of not seeing each other, and this restaurant ruined our night. I felt the food was nothing special and would not recommend anyone to eat at this Ah-So Sushi & Steakhouse in Peoria. I'm hoping to get their manager demoted, and that lousy chef fired. I'll update this review as things transpire.
Their corporate office turned off their contact option on their website, and they never answer their phone. I believe it's a fake phone number. This reconfirms that Ah-So Sishi & Steak doesn't care about customer satisfaction, but only profits. Please ban these restaurants and show them we (the customers) demand better service if they want...
