I’ve only been to MacAllister three or four times mostly because it’s kind of far from me. But where I live I’m pretty sure delis are banned. I cannot understand why There are no delis in the West Phoenix valley. I know I know everyone will tell you, Goodcents firehouse mr pickles (gross) Jersey Mike’s, blah blah blah... those are not delis. those are sub shops. for those that don’t know delis are like a mini market that have amazing sandwiches on any kind of bread you want. not just a hoagie roll. And many many meat options that are fresh sliced, from a deli case, and dozens of toppings to choose from.

Anyway, McAllister’s is the closest thing to a real deli that I have found in West Valley so far. That said of the other two or three options that are so-called delis McAllister‘s is the best for two reasons, one price and two variety. My sandwich soda and side cost $15. not bad. The so-called deli across the street would have cost me over 30. In fact the last time I was there it was 35 for a sandwich side and a drink but that’s another story.

This time around I got the beef and cheddar with horseradish sauce. Really good. I was not even hungry for that when I came in there, but I saw it on the menu and had to have it. I will say the cucumber salad was a little disappointing. they should just call that tomato salad. And their sweet tea was good as well. Service is really good and the place is clean. If it were closer to me I’d probably go there once a week at least. Frankly, it couldn’t be in a worse location. Nobody wants to be on that part...

Blatant theft! When getting a sandwich you get a side of your choosing included in the price, but some sides like the soup cost extra. Which would be fine and understandable, but here's the kicker...the extra cost to have the soup as a side is the SAME COST as just getting the soup by itself! This effectively screws the customer out of an additional side....that they paid GOOD money for. The side menu is clearly set up to accomplish this hustle and should be illegal as a practice.

I made the mistake of ordering the soup as a side not aware of the trickery. After ordering and noticing this ill will business practice I bought it up to the cashier once I noticed no savings and the lack of an additional side I paid good money for. She said I chose my one side and couldn't get the other! I had to talk to a manager to get something I already paid for and he even said the same crap the cashier said. "Ahhh duhhh we'll you chose the soup as your one side...you can't have another" he did understand where I was coming from and did give the sides up after I fought for them, but geeez the reasoning was dribble and melted my brain.

Its infuriating to think by simply choosing a non additional cost side first and then ordering a soup(all in the same ticket mind you) nets you what you rightfully paid for, but if you choose a soup as a side....you get screwed out of...

So I’ve tried it three different times now.

The first time everything was on point and went exceptionally well! They said we could make any modifications to anything! And they were pleased to make it to exactly how I wanted things as I will admit I’m a picky eater. Great!

The second time was good and the food was great though I got a cheesecake slice with peach topping to go.... though I never got the peach topping. They were still ok about modifying it to exactly how I wanted it. I dined in and noticed I was constantly wisping away flys and gnats. Super irritating

The third time. After having just left there. They were intolerant of my modifying the order and even became irritated with me as the customer. I was unable to take a bite at all without having to battle for my own food when it came to the flys and gnats. I became so irritated I decided to change tables. At this point there was no difference in being in battle with the flys and gnats that I lost my appetite, gave up and left.

I’m appalled at how gross it was. Irritated at not having someone run the register and taking orders who has patients, and completed grossed out about all the...

Updated Review (12/31/2023): Feel like getting ripped off? Come to McAllister's. Seems the Chipotle effect has overrun the quality and portion size when it comes to the protein of what you receive. $12 for baked baked potato with honey bbq pulled pork which was actually make 2 tablespoons (less then 1oz if that) of meat on a sad looking flat potato with very little toppings. Looks NOTHING AT ALL like what is advertised. $6 for tiny "cup" of soup which was less then 3/4c of actual soup? They didn't even take the time to fill up the paper cup. Restaurant cleanliness also seems to be an issue. Almost every table was dirty. You could clearly see cup rings and traces of food on them left over from other customers. Spent $24 on a sad looking baked potato and 3/4c of soup and 2 sodas. Totally ripped off. The was completely clueless and in her own world. You can clearly tell she doesn't care.

I have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed my food. Today I bought lunch for boss as a treat and while eating his sandwich he found a full size cricket in his food. I took the time to drive back to the restaurant to talk to the manager. I understand these things happen sometimes, I've worked in food service for many years. However, when I spoke to the manager she was rude and implied that I lied about finding it and that it "wasn't there when she sent out the box". I have never been called a liar for bringing a concern to someone's attention. This reaction makes me feel like this kind of thing happens often and that they will not take accountability. I was expecting I am sorry and we would go our ways and I would continue to come eat here in the future. I do not plan on coming back because of the managers reaction when it could have been handled differently.
