I have been a vocal fan of 516 in BG as a continuation of the Myle's Pizza tradition. I honestly believe they have improved the old place, especially after how Chip had allowed the original location to deteriorate. Being a resident of Maumee, I was excited that I wouldn't have to make the 25 min. Drive to just get that delicious pie. My outdoor plans had been washed out by rain, so I decided to stop in solo today and have a pizza. The place is clean (almost TOO clean) and kind of lacked the character/ ambience of the old location, but that could be expected. There were only a handful of people eating, and I took a seat at the bar. The bartender was nice and she greeted me/took my order. After that, I had to grab her attention to get my drink refilled as she was chatting with a patron on the other side of the bar. This happened twice, and when I saw my pizza come out, the kitchen staff started calling her name to get my food, yet she kept on yapping. She finally went to the kitchen and appeared to maybe drop or fumble the pizza? Cant be sure, but when it came out, it looked lopsided, and a lot of the cheese had shifted to one side. She didn't say anything. I was hungry and didn't feel like making a scene or waiting for another pie, so I just ate a couple slices and asked for my check and a box. The pizza was still good, but I think the service could've been much better, especially considering that the place was...
Read moreMy Wife and I decided to go for pizza as we passed near Perrysburg. One of my favorite pizza joint was closed so we looked at a few options near us. We selected Pizza Pub 516 for something new. Ordered a 12” Classic Supreme through a phone order for takeout. I was told 25 minutes for the order pickup. Went into the Pub to pickup our pizza and was greeted by a comfortable bar and multiple TV’s with different sports programs on. They also have a nice pool table in the front of the pub. Had We realized it was that nice, probably would’ve went in to eat. Walked up to the man at the cash register to get the order. He promptly retrieved our order, I paid and he handed it to me. I must admit that it had some weight to it, that caught me by surprise being it was a 12”. Took it to our car and opened it up. It smelled and looked very appealing. We proceeded to eat the pizza and it had a delicious cheese and a copious level of toppings. I was satisfied with just 2 pieces. My Wife had 2 pieces but could only finish 1.5 so I, of course, had to polish that off. Crust is medium thickness with a nice crisp bottom and good flavorful chew. The sauce is savory and pairs well with the other components of the pizza. The meat and veggies are chunky style. I would try again....
Read moreDecided on pizza for dinner and to try Pizza Pub 516 for the first time. I can't say we will be back. While the ambiance was great, the experience was not. Our server, who never gave us her name (but is #150 on the receipt), never once smiled or even acted like she wanted to do anything but go home.
We ordered the pretzel and paid extra for the cheese, but I guess the restaurant thinks cheese for pretzels needs to be served cold and in the Ortega container it comes in. I asked for it to be heated, and our server rolled her eyes and just snatched it away. 8 minutes later she comes back and says they don't have a microwave. Ok, fine.
The pizza was OK, but I didn't anticipate such spicy pepperoni. Hubby liked his BBQ pizza. We watched our server interact with other patrons, and her attitude did not improve. No smiles, irritated looks, and lack-luster responses to questions.
The pizza isn't the cheapest in the area, for sure, but for a $60 bill, I expected at least to feel welcome. We did tip 15%, although I was tempted not to. I also thought about leaving a note telling her to smile, but thought better of it. Hopefully it was just a bad day for her, but it resulted in our decision not to return...
