Visited Philly for the annual Philadelphia Flower Show and stopped into the Reading Market afterwards for a bite to eat. My two girlfriends and I are familiar with this yearly ritual of trying to secure a location to sit down and enjoy a meal during the rush of visitors to the area. This year we found Molly Malloy's and inquired about a table. We were told 15 minutes and gave our name to the receptionist. A party of 4 was sat in a matter of minutes and in a short time we were lead to a high top corner table to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch. The open style pub is bustling with people everywhere and quite exciting. The staff is friendly and quick to please. We ordered standard food and drink and enjoyed it thoroughly. I got a cheese burger that had two patties perfectly prepared, a large portion of melted cheese pickles and crunchy chips as a side. One friend ordered the tomato grill cheese sandwich and devoured it. And my other friend had the burger as well and said her choice was perfect as well. We ordered sodas and water to drink and enjoyed each other's company. We chatted briefly with the table right next to us, they all had very positive things to say both about the food and experience in general. We will definitely head to this restaurant next year and look forward to possibly coming in another...
Read moreWhen I tell you I use to love this place! The location convenient the drinks are not bad. Food good. But service has went down!! Now, I donât usually assume but the young lady bartender I feel is very prejudice against black ppl. Iâve been a bartender/server manager for over 10 years. So I know when someone is doing something on purpose. I was there yesterday, when I tell you this lady deliberately tried her best to ignore me , and succeeded. I watch her the whole time. I know it was busy because of the flower show. But itâs sad that I had to ask the ppl next to me(who were white), if they could get her attention because she only seemed to be serving selective ppl. Also this is not my first time Iâve observed this behaviour with the young women. I have been observing her for quite some time. I donât if sheâs just over being a bartender , over worked, or whatever but thatâs no excuse to be prejudice, rude and selective. My advice? Either change professions, change your facial expression, or change that selective attitude. I will say the young man who was bartending along side her was in the same predicament and he handle himself very...
Read moreMolly Malloyâs offers a convenient spot in the bustling Reading Terminal Market, but unfortunately, the experience doesnât quite live up to the promise. The cheeseburger had potential, but the execution left much to be desiredâcold bun, hot meat, unmelted cheese, and an overwhelming heap of onions that overpowered everything else. The potato chips were stale and prepared without bother for any spices. Ho-hum, really. The salad was also onion-laden. Fresh ingredients might have started the journey, but they didnât come out of the kitchen that way on any dish.
On a brighter note, the brew selection is solid, and the beer glasses meet the âclean glassâ test. Service was quick and pleasant, which is always appreciated, though itâs something youâd expect everywhere. However, the lack of tidiness in the restaurant seemed to carry over to the plates, which came out just as messy.
Ultimately, Molly Malloyâs is more about saying youâve eaten at Reading Terminal Market than enjoying a culinary standout. It wasnât terrible. It made for a nice occasion to rest from walking, but itâs not the kind of spot youâll be rushing back to...
