Royal Boucherie is really a treat for those who are searching for serious flavors and great atmosphere.

The bar up front by the entrance is always so inviting and spacious though every visit I have opted for a table as I am typically with a group. This remains on my 'to-do' list but it's the perfect spot for a well prepared drink.

Every detail of the food is meticulous and the flavor are amazing. My favorite to start with is the Charcuterie which has always been served on a large board and has various cured meats, pickled veggies, mustards and a drizzle of honey.

Every dish I have had here has been exceptional. The wait staff is very professional and you really feel taken care of. Food is definitely a focus of the Royal Boucherie but even though I live out of state I always plan a stop when in Philadelphia.

They have a lovely outdoor seating area on the second floor that that I assume opens in nice weather but I have not had a chance to dine there, it looks lovely. Bathrooms are also located on the second floor and it looks like there may be additional seating or areas available for special events here too.

Royal Boucherie is located on an older, (maybe historic?) Street with cobblestones so it is really reflective of the History of Philadelphia. The restaurant likewise is situated in what looks to be a very old row building with hardwood floors, dark wood highlights which most likely are very old.

I have noted patrons make up a wide mix from locals to tourists, younger folks on dates, small groups and everything in between.

A great restaurant in a great location, I can't wait for my next visit to...

TLDR: Food just okay, super expensive especially for what you get, service great.

We were very excited for a real French restaurant on our girls trip to Philly and were pretty disappointed. I wanted my friend to try escargot and foie gras but both were not prepared in a French style. The escargot was in a heavy beef gravy style sauce, not at all like any escargot I've had before. The foie gras was okay, but was grilled and had opposing textures which made it not very pleasant to eat. We then got the cassoulet, which was okay, but nothing to write home about. The drinks were good, we got two cocktails, they didn't pair well with our meal. It was all pretty salty. We didn't finish the cassoulet.

At the end of the evening I decided to try the creme brulee as a final test. It failed. The creme itself was very flavorful, however it was not prepared correctly. The texture of the burnt cream was way too hard, thick, and clearly over cooked. When you eat creme brulee, it should crack easily with just a tap of your spoon. We had to work hard to get this to crack. It was a similar texture to hard candy. We ended up not finishing the brulee. The strawberry was also mush. You can see the thickness of the burned part in the picture.

We had really been looking forward to this but found it lacking as a French restaurant. Very expensive as well. I don't mind paying high prices for great food, but my stomach turned at the bill because of how mediocre the food was for what we paid. Service was wonderful, Gianna was our server.

Try Parc on 18th street across town instead for amazing...

My husband and I had our elopement dinner/microwedding here in November 2023. Samantha and the whole Royal Boucherie staff gave us the best experience we could have wished for. We planned everything in less than three weeks. Samantha & team were not phased a bit, even as we were adding new vendors to the roster week of (a holiday week at that.) Communication was prompt from the day we submitted our inquiry. They managed logistics with our vendors. They were able to accommodate a gluten allergy and a few other dietary restrictions flawlessly. Every single staff member we interacted with was attentive, friendly, and accommodating. In addition to Samantha, I want to give a special shout out to the hostess who helped us see the space while we were making the decision on where to host and also made sure our “after party” was comfortable and had space downstairs at the bar after the wedding.

We used the upstairs covered patio for our ceremony and the parlor for our reception. We decided not to bring in any flowers because the space is already so green and beautiful.

We received lots of compliments on the food. The staff went out of their way to make sure we, as the bride and groom, were able to enjoy passed Hors D'oeuvres as we were taking family portraits during cocktail hour.

If you are looking for a place to host your 65 or less person wedding in Philadelphia, add Royal Boucherie to your shortlist. They went above and beyond for our day and we cant wait to continually go back to celebrate new...
