The place is HUGE so they pack the entire place but it's big enough so you will Mingle. It's dog friendly but not if your dog gets overwhelmed by crowds because the crowd is not fully dog friendly. My dog just wanted to go meet people and some folks were NOT having it while others were friendly. One lady was loudly remarking how disgusting it is to have dogs "crawling on you" as you try to eat. She was not trying to eat nor had anyone's dog crawled on her but mine has approached her twice so we walked away and moved to another table. The staff was helpful and got my dog some water while leaving my husband standing there like "Can I get something?" So that was kind of weird.
We were never approached by anyone on the staff. I'm used to like a server asking you if you want something and you getting things brought to you, this felt like a cafe moreso, maybe not a restaurant? This is a place where you had to go fetch your drinks and wait for your order with a number etc. but HOW DO YOU GET A MENU AND FOOD THOUGH?! 😂 I am seriously asking because we really tried a couple times. We just wanted a chill vibe (which the reviews had boasted but this was NOT a chill anything) and we were trying something new here but the place is so loud you HAVE to yell to talk to your date and there wasnt even any music playing at all it's just a very loud room of people fetching things and it's a bit.... Strange. Did we miss the music? Who do you need to know to get the menu? Did I miss the initiation phase of the night?
I guess it works because there were a million people there including a wedding party of 85 people. 😳 Like cool just not for maybe the 35+ age folks who just want a drink and conversation that
DOESNT INCLUDE YOU SCREAMING! ...WHATTTT?! SCREAM-ING!! OH YEAH THE SUNS ARE A DREAM TEAM!! NO... SCREAMING?! WHAT?! YEAH I NEED ANOTHER BEER I WASNT ASKING YOU IF YOU NEED A BEER WHAT?! YEAH I DO.
This happened for about two drinks before we decided it was not getting better and no one ever approached us with a menu though...my husband asked two people and he's like 7 feet tall and super nice so the fact no one came back was like yeahhhh outski... We went to Bad Jimmy's where the vibe is ...chill.. Won't be back here ever but keep doing you if this is working? We drove from North Phoenix to come here so I feel like my gas wasted and that lady talking stuff to my dog at a dog friendly bar is worth this poor evaluation enough but the menu thing warrants a definite under score. Oh...did I mention this was my husband's birthday celebration hahah yeah so there's that too. Oh well. I hope whoever is reading this is Wondering why I wrote such a long review and what kind of life I have lead to feel this strongly about a cafe restaurant that boasts a chill vibe and the answer is, I do it because there you are reading this thinking is it HER or the restaurant and maybe you go there and see for yourself and while you sit there you think...dang that lady was trying to help me but here I am with a pissed off dog and hungry middle aged husband without a foodenu who was promised a burger and duck fat fries and we drove 30 minutes to get them and none of those things happened and I thought she was the problem.
And you will then know why I leave such detailed perceptive reviews. Because Dogs and hungry giant...
Read moreAt first, this place seemed pretty nice, a group of friends and I came here for mostly just drinks, although some got some food that I won't comment on. The big red flag for this place was how they handled open bar tabs. The group of us had been there for a few hours, most of us with open bar tabs, close to the bar and fairly regularly getting drinks. At one point, my brother and I had gone up to get another drink and told the bartender to put it on each of our tabs, at which point, he told us our tabs where closed. Neither of us had closed are tabs so we were confused by this and asked if one of our friends had come up and closed our tabs for us, to which the bartender said no. He then proceeded to tell us that "when a tab sits for too long it automatically closes you out and adds a 22% gratuity to the overall tab". We immediately addressed this and stated neither of us had intentions of closing our tabs and did not authorize the 22% gratuity(my brother had been tipping the bartenders in cash already when he would go up for a new drink prior to this) plus there was a "auto close out fee" for the tab, that was roughly $10 added to our tabs.
Both of us stated that this was very strange and that we have never encountered this before. The bartender stated that it was due to how long the tab had been open and that it was just their system but there is no where posted that this was a policy. The only thing that was posted regarding open tabs was that if any tabs remaining were left open "at the end of the night" that there would be a 22% gratuity added to open tabs. The bar closes at 10pm, and we both started this conversation with the bartender before 9:30pm.
At this point we were both pretty annoyed and asked to "officially" close out our tabs but for them to remove the "open tab" fee and automatic 22% gratuity. The bartender did do this but also did not at any point apologize for this, and frankly his attitude was that what we were concerned about wasn't important enough to him.
After this we went to our table and told our group to all make sure they checked their tabs, and after doing so, had confirmed they had done it to all of our open tabs. We were a group of 9, this was so underhanded and shady, it left everyone with a bad taste in our mouths.
Unfortunately won't be returning here again due to the staff members lack of care as well as the unethical practices they take in taking...
