Ghost Donkey: Where Magic, Mezcal, and Memories Collide! Forget your average bar experience, because Ghost Donkey in Phoenix transports you to a world of secrets, sips, and sensational vibes. Nestled downtown at 903 N 2nd St, this hidden gem isn't just a bar; it's an immersive adventure.
From the playful hunt for the entrance (thanks for the clues, website!) to the twinkling lights and vibrant Dia de los Muertos décor, Ghost Donkey oozes whimsy and charm. And let's not forget the life-size donkey statue – he's practically the mascot of good times!
But the real magic lies in their exquisite agave spirits and inspired cocktails. We dove headfirst into their signature sips, and each one was a revelation:
The Oaxacan Old Fashioned: This smoky masterpiece swapped bourbon for mezcal, creating a depth of flavor that lingered on the palate. The Peychaud's bitters and orange twist added a perfect touch of sophistication. The Paloma Paloma: This refreshing paloma wasn't your average poolside drink. The grapefruit soda danced with the tequila, while the tajin rim brought a delightful sweet-heat kick. It was sunshine in a glass! The Mushroom Margarita: Now, I wasn't sure about a mushroom margarita, but trust me, it was pure magic! The huitlacoche-infused mezcal added a unique earthiness that balanced beautifully with the agave syrup and lime. It was an explosion of unexpected flavors that tantalized the taste buds. But Ghost Donkey isn't just about the drinks. The staff were phenomenal: knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about their craft. They took the time to explain the unique ingredients and stories behind each cocktail, making the experience even more special.
The atmosphere was the icing on the cake. The music was upbeat but not overpowering, the chatter lively but not overwhelming, and the overall vibe was fun, festive, and inviting. We felt like we were part of something special, a hidden community of agave enthusiasts enjoying a secret soirée.
Whether you're a seasoned tequila connoisseur or simply looking for a unique and unforgettable night out, Ghost Donkey is a must-visit. It's more than just a bar; it's an experience that will tantalize your taste buds, ignite your senses, and leave you with memories that linger long after your last sip. So, grab your partner, your adventurous spirit, and head to Ghost Donkey – you won't regret it!

Read moreReally had high expectations for this new place in town. The decor is nice. It’s such a cute small place. Down side is the bartender… I sat at the bar, ordered and he literally serviced three other customers that order after me… and still asked me in between if I still wanted it. At the last question I just didn’t want it at that point. Why should I have to continue to say yes after I ordered. 🤔🤔 I honestly go based on bartenders and their service. This place definitely wasn’t it. Wish I could’ve said other wise. Pero en este caso así no fue. Let’s not mention the over price for what I got. Trust I went to the next door Palmas and I had a great/ better experience atmosphere and service than this place, so of course I tipped the palmas bartender a good tip. Might have known the price for the drinks I would’ve gone to Cobras and get 2% better service. I did catch a good picture of the over price and no alcohol ( it hardly had any, it was more juice) drink...
Read moreIf I could leave 0 stars i would. the most homophobic place i have ever been too. my friend and i went to the restroom and they questioned us afterwards about why we were in the restroom together when i needed assistance. my brother and i went to the restroom and they KICKED US OUT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT, not only that, they grabbed me by the shoulder and shoved me out. No one deserves to be treated that way, I was walking out I did NOT need to be touched and shoved like that. I have never felt more unsafe and more uncomfortable in a public space. I will never return to this business. You have to be kidding me!!! we are people going through a human experience. we decided to spend a night here and they made us all feel small, unimportant and problematic!! this is extremely homophobic and sexist behavior and inappropriate...
