Have been coming here for the past 2 years at least once every 2 weeks , sometimes once a week . There have been a lot of changes recently that I was unaware of which took me by surprise . They got rid of the salsa bar and being able to order up front , makes more room for people to dine and that’s understandable. I was approached by a waiter and I said I wanted to place an order for take out - so he handed me a menu and sat me at a table , I said I’m ready to order , he said we will be right with you . There was one family of 4 in the restaurant and it took ten minutes before I was approached by … well let’s just say a very unfriendly waitress named Carla . Perhaps she was having a bad day . I was still smiling and asked a few questions about what I used to get . I pointed to the menu and said well this is how we make it . Used to get 3 hardshell tacos with the compote dipping sauce - the one on the menu had 3 pre dipped in the sauce and I asked if I could get the hard shell and dip at home so they are crispy ? She said that’s how we make them ( and with an attitude ) so I said 3 with the dip on the side . Seemed like everything was pulling teeth with this one ( and mind you I fix ac units and have been in the sun for 9 hours , still chose this place to feed my wife and myself and I still had a smile on my face and a kind tone in my voice . I’m not Latino , but as new folks came in that were , they were greeted with a smile and a kind voice . Found that interesting. Takes a while for the food which I’m aware of and I’m patient ( have been in the food / hospitality industry for years and know what hospitality means - just a nice thing as a server I would offer some water to drink while you wait. But not this gem . Have been a generous tipper until this moment . Thank you Carla for reminding me there are many other restaurants to support . Very rude , very unfriendly and perhaps an occupation in another industry would suit you better because a friendly smile and tone is something that’s lacking here . Skip this...
Read moreWhen I got to the establishment, it was packed. I got in line onces it was my turn I asked to dine in there was three tables put together, and when I asked if I could sit there with my group they informed us that those tables were reservations and that we had to wait until other table was ready for us to be seated and that wait time could be 20 to 25 minutes. We decided to wait beside the salsa bar after waiting close to 20 minutes the female cashier. And informed us that it was better to order our food while we wait for a table as we looked around no tables look like they were going to leave anytime soon. So we just told the female that we would like to make a reservation for next week around the same time and she said that she don’t do reservations and that she was not sure why the back cooks made those arrangements she said if I had a problem with take it up to the manager or us how we could make a reservation. But she’s not aware of allowing reservations I was baffled and BeWeld because of food they look good but there was no space and very small establishment and before I arrived to the restaurant I looked up reviews and stars and nowhere on the website informs you about any wait time And not only that we were trying to make their coin cause we were in the way of the salsa bar and wanted us to order so we can leave We left to Tacos Chisco Bar & Grill Good service great food And more importantly more space and affordable prices And...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but outof pure luck we got off the exit on our way home from a trip to Sedona. We had a car full of people so this was the best option with many choice to chose from. Wanting to get a true street taco I pulled up the reviews for the spot and it had a great rating. Weather was sunny, windows were open and some great vibes or music playing. My wife, older daughter and I walked in. We asked the server what her favorite was and she suggested the quesabarria. I ordered that and a carne asada street taco. They had a salsa bar with homemade toppings to choose from. You can tell this place was the real deal. We sat down and were served. The quesabarria came with a dipping broth. All sorts of flavors. The carne asada was tender and well seasoned. I immediately was transformed to my trips to Mexico with authentic flavors. It was like being in their families kitchen. They were so good my daughter and I each got another carne asada taco. At the end of the meal the lady working brought us over homemade churros, ice cream and dipping sauce…AMAZING!!! Not sure when I’ll be back to Phoenix, but I will dream of this place and hope to one day...
