HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
I have been at the Yogi's grill on 1 E washington twice this week and everyone seem to have been very friendly. But today was a different story. During my 11:25pm luch I decided to but a friend that is with child a Philadelphia roll with smoked salmon at $10.49 and I bought myself a California roll $5.49, my total came out to be $17.69. Based upon the pictures on the menu the california roll lool delicious, i asked the cashier Dominique at register #2, where is the picture of the Philadelphia roll? she proceeded to say she dont have a picture but told me what the ingredients consist of. When i got back to the office we noticed the salmon on the roll was not smoked, which wasn't a big deal. We couldn't eat it so we went back to Yogi's to either get something different or get a refund. The new cashier asked what was wrong with the food, my friend proceeded to inform the cashier she couldn't it the sushi because the salmon is raw when its suppose to be smoked. The cashier began to laugh and stated they can't give refunds and i could get something of a lesser value. When we asked to speak with a manager a (Asian lady) came from the customer side of the register asking what's the problem. We proceeded to inform her of this issue and she immediately caught a nasty attitude, Got loud and proceeded to walk away. We asked if she was the manager and she rudely said yes! and went behind the doubke doors.
So i couldnt get a refund and i couldnt get anything that was of the same value. I left the food there.
Once I got off work I called Yogi' s to speak with the General Manager. Chase the assistant manager advised the General Manager was not avaliable but he would be glad to help me! When i explained to him all that happened he too caught an attitude and advised Jason the General Manager would agree to not provide a refund or a meal of the same $10 value. She stated the menu says the salmon is raw in fine print. He began to say his team and the cashier have had a bad day today which doesn't excuse their actions but he is sorry no refund, and i cant order anything else of the same value. As i proceeded to try to ask questions calmly, he got even louder stating he have two customers in front of him waiting to order and rudely put the phone down to take the customers order. Once he finished with their orders he hung up the phone. I called back to ask if they were franchise or corporate own and he advised franchise.
I work too hard for my money. I have also been a manager of two food chain operations. I believe a server, cashier, Gm or Agm is required to do whatever he or she can do to make and keep your customers happy. Sadly I will NEVER order from there again. I wish I knew the franchisee because i am truly disappointed. yes it was $10.49 but its money I worked hard for just like everyone else do everyday of the week. PLEASE LET THIS REACH THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS or THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.
I dont want an apology, i want my meal for either $10.49 or my money...
Read moreThe entire atmosphere of the place has changed. They apparently have a new general manager who stands over the cashiers with a hawk eye. The man shouldn't be taking phone orders, shouldn't be bagging food and shouldn't be criticizing his employees in front of customers. Especially when they haven't done anything wrong. I heard him yelling at one cashier because she forgot to get a phone number for a phone order and then I couldn't believe it when he interrupted her helping me because she didn't charge me 50 cents for an extra sauce! I have never been charged for extra sauce before. I had never had an issue with my order or condiments either. I had always been given 2 sauces for my large chicken bowl, but I guess it's only one sauce per order and every other sauce is now 50 cents! I don't have any issues paying for extras, but 50 cents each can add up quick for others. He also didnt have any problem arguing with anyone who questioned him on their new policy! I am not sure if the owner is having money issues, but hiring a general manager who thinks charging for extra condiments is how to increase sells is making a huge mistake. I am just one (of what I am sure will be many) customers who will no longer be coming back. Not because of being charged for extra sauce, but because of how he went about it, and then trying to be buddy with me and trying to make it seem as though the cashier was incompetent by trying to joke and laugh. When another customer asked for extra sauce, he took their 50 cents and threw it in their tip jar! So i am not sure what the whole reason of charging customers extra for items that are such low value/low cost. He isn't seeing the bigger picture and is going to continue to lose business with the new "policy". Then, other customers he would act like he was doing them a favor by not charging them. It was unbelievable and I felt bad for the other 2 cashiers because they looked lost, bored, worried. He was also bagging all orders and I watched 2 customers walk back in asking for something that was missing and watched him argue with someone who called the gyoza potstickers. It was unbelievable! I watched one of thr cashiers wipe down all the tables about 4 times while I was there, as she struggled to find something to do and a way to appear busy while he stood behind the counter struggling to take simple orders and then any errors he would place on the customer or cashier or cooks. Yelling at them If a part of an order wasn't done in 30 seconds. I can't support that kind of mis management and will maybe check back in a few weeks to see if anything...

July 2025. I'm no longer happy with this place. We've been here about four times since my last review in October of 2024. Every time my wife orders and pays extra for white chicken meat on her teriyaki bowl. The last four times including last week, the chicken is rubbery and some pieces are a bit raw in the middle. I have mentioned it twice in both times they re-cook it but then the chicken is extremely dry and not palatable. Sure they always encourage us to allow them to make a right but come on now.. do I have to do that every time I come in? Why not let me just cook it for you that way it'll be done the right way the first time. I've been cooking chicken for 40 plus years.. The only time it's ever rubbery like this is if it's precooked a bit then stored in a bag then reheated in a microwave. Whatever their method is, we're not going to go back. It's getting a bit expensive, they suggest a tip when All they do is push a few buttons, and your receipt and then maybe set your food on the table and walk away. I don't see how that's worth a couple of dollars.
October 2024. We've now been here about 12 times since this posting. Nothing's changed. It's always clean in there, you're greeted right when you walk in the door and they're very helpful. One of our favorites.
We wanted to go to a different place downtown Phoenix but they were closed on Sundays so we drove about five miles out of our way to come here and it was well worth it. The place was very clean the staff was pretty friendly and the prices are pretty good. Food quality was...
