This is the only convenient big-box store in my area but I'd rather drive out of my way than shop at this Target again. I purchased a curtain rod (along with about $200 in other items to stock up a new house; I feel that this Target also hikes up their prices in the name of "convenience" but maybe I'm imagining things) and discovered that the mounting hardware that was supposed to be included was not in the packaging after hunting for it for a good 10 minutes. I tried calling the store to see if I would need to bring the whole product back in or if I could just bring the box with the receipt but I gave up after about 15 rings with no answer. Since I was only missing the hardware and didn't want to wrangle a 120" curtain rod along with a bunch of dissembled packaging along with me, I grabbed the box and my receipt thinking it would be a simple matter of them ringing out another rod and giving me the hardware I needed to hang the curtain rod. I guess it was my mistake to assume the store would take responsibility for the mix up and try to take care of a customer. When I got to the store, I was told that it wouldn't be possible for them to do what they needed to do and send me on my way with the missing hardware I needed. Instead I was told that I needed to bring in the whole curtain rod and all packaging, because if they just gave me the hardware from another rod it would "screw over the next customer". So basically it was fine that I got screwed over because of either a manufacturing problem (this was a Threshold item; manufactured by Target!) or a situation where an item had been returned and repackaged without the hardware. So I drove back to my house, took apart the rods I had assembled and gathered the packaging and returned.
I've worked in retail and other customer service-oriented jobs for most of my life. I am generally a very timid person. I am not the type of person to demand others go above and beyond to satisfy my every whim. My expectation when going into Target or any other retailer is to hopefully not have to wait too long in the checkout line (but if I do it's not the end of the world by any means) and to have a mildly pleasant interaction with the cashier. If I encounter an issue, especially one as simple as the one I experienced here, I expect that it would be resolved promptly and courteously. I would not expect to have to make 3 trips to the same store and then also have it implied that if they took care of me as a customer it would somehow create a problem for the next person. I wonder where the rod I returned is now? Maybe hanging in the home goods section, surrounded by a destroyed box and still with no hardware? š¤š¤š¤š¤š¤
TLDR: If you buy a sofa and it's missing a single bolt, be prepared to load it back into your car and bring it back with the receipt so they can do a full exchange! Wouldn't want the next sofa-purchaser to get screwed over like you did because you assumed it would be reasonable to request just the piece you're missing because returning the whole item would involve a sofa missing one bolt sitting on a loading dock in the back of Target either way! And don't expect to be able to call beforehand and ask what exactly you need to bring for the return because who answers...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFast in, customer service can improve, but I did find a female worker that was able to help me she was very helpful š and new the merchandise that I was looking for her opinion š was very helpful and bought all that I needed I don't remember her name I wish I did. The mall was on 16th street and š« back. On this past weekend I went by to see about the selection of vacuum cleaners, after my shopping š I asked a young lady š© if I could bring a vacuum that I just recently bought at their store on 44st and Thomas and was told that I could. Later on came with the vacuum and the same person asked me several questions, and she really didn't seem to want to help, not sure what happened, gave her the receipt and it went š¤ from bad to a mess, then was told I couldn't return it since it was the store on Thomas Rd. She treated me like I was trying to return the vacuum to get cash šø since I paid with my credit card, I informed her I didn't want to do that I had the receipt I wanted to exchange it. She called the manager and he was as confused š as I was. He really wanted to help, i was so embarrassed š³ that I bought another vacuum and left but made sure I thanked the manager for his help. Leave it to carma, the vacuum i bought had a piece missing, O No .went back the same person was there again. Before I could say anything she asked for my receipt and card, then I asked her what she was doing, I wanted to let her know there was a piece missing. She ignored me completely and she return the item, and left. I looked at the people behind me and said what just happened, I asked the person behind me did I did something wrong. This lady š© said I don't know what happened ither. There was a lady š© that approached me and asked if she could help, she introduced her self and I explained what happened I wasn't going to come back, I was lost for words and left. The lady that was behind me was speaking to the manager and I could hear š her say how rude this girl š§ was but I couldn't stay, I still don't know what happened but I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould use extreme caution when purchasing added on coverage for electronics at this location and hold on to that receipt tighter than Frodo Baggins held onto the ring. Seems to be a little money grab as I had a malfunction with one of the electronics that I bought and miss placed my receipt as roughly 5 months had passed by so kind of expected, maybe? However, when I went to speak with customer service on a Monday for some help, they got on their little walkie-talkies (spoke code terms to each other) and let me know the person who had clearance to look up these type of receipts wouldnāt be in until Tuesday at noon, which was fine. Came back around 1 PM the following Tuesday⦠same lady, got back on her little walkie-talkie and was told that person wouldnāt be until 230 now and to come back. Maybe everybody that works at this target has electric cars and doesnāt care gas is 4.50 a gallon but thatās when the games started I guess. Instead of coming back, I decided to leave my contact information for this special person with this special clearance and asked for them to give me a call back. Seems like they are treating me like a one-night-stand as itās now been six days and I have not received a callback⦠Iāll be, it was a $25 purchase + the nonexistent warranty coverage so nothing to cry...
