Do the cupcakes taste good? Yes
However, that is the only positive thing I can say about Gigi's Cupcakes in Pigeon Forge. I initially ordered three dozen cupcakes for an event I was hosting with a 'Wizard of Oz' theme. I called in the order and the individual I spoke with was very kind, and helpful in helping me decide on flavors and decorations for my order. She reviewed our conversation with me and verified the pick up time and date then took my payment over the phone. The day of the event I had a friend pick the cupcakes up for me and when she arrived they were still working on the order. She waited an hour for them to be completed which put us behind on getting ready for the rest of the event. When she arrived at the event we checked the cupcakes they were not decorated as discussed and one dozen had all of the icing sliding off where they were iced while the cakes were still too warm. I called back into the store and they offered to remake them however, I did not have time before my event to travel back to the store. We settled on them giving me a store credit for the cost of the dozen cupcakes that had the icing sliding off.
Thinking that maybe they over booked themselves and this was a one time incident I used them again to make cupcakes for my daughters birthday party.
I called the store the Monday before the party to verbally put in the order. The individual who answered aske me to please email the order in online. I did so and by Wednesday had not received a conformation that the order had been received so I called in to check. They let me know that the owner is the one who receives the emails and she had not been at work that week, and she would be in the following day (Thursday) and would give me a call. They took my name and number and assured me they would reach out right away. I didn't hear from her on Thursday and tried to call several times throughout the day but was unable to get through to anyone. I finally reached the store Thursday evening, and was told there was no order put in online in my name but that they would be happy to take the order then. I gave the order over the phone and planned to pick it up the following morning.
When I arrived at the store in Pigeon Forge there was no one in the front of the store, there was also some VERY untasteful music blaring extremely loudly over the store speakers. We could hear employees taking and laughing in the back. My four year old and I stood up front for two minutes before anyone acknowledged that we were there. Even then all they did was yell from the back "I'll be up in a minute!" When the store attendant finally came up she checked the cupcakes behind the counter got the cupcakes I requested from the display case and checked us out, applying the $50 credit. When we arrived home I took a look at the cupcakes and saw that they were what I ordered, but many of them had been iced crooked. This was not sliding, this was sloppy work, period.
I understand things happen, and I understand orders are miscommunicated. We are dealing with a product that has a very short shelf life once prepared. However, at $4 a cupcake I expect quality, properly iced cupcakes that are ready on time. I expect exquisite customer service, and to be called if there is a question and notified if there is an issue with my order. You would think that businesses who charge such an exurbanite amount for their goods and services would like to keep the people willing to pay their prices, happy and coming back.
I'm sorry but I will make my own cupcakes before I order from Gigi's again, and unfortunately I will not recommend them to anyone...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis review is overdue , but some stories must not remain untold... It was a hot summer day in east Tennessee.. as my son and I were leaving the dollywood amusement park.. I could literally feel the sweat beeding up from my pores as the sugar and electrolytes that fueled my body were leaving me. I was weary and in need of rest and refreshment from our travels. My son and I landed in a shopping center somewhere off the lane of teaster to regroup ourselves and search for R & R. That is when my 12 year old son looked at me...laid his hand on my shoulder and said, " Father, when hast thou Last partaken in a cup cake and truly rewarded thine self? , perhaps it's time to move on from the past and start again"...so wise he was that day..knowing that deep inside I had been hurting.. Sacrificing sugary cup cakes from my life for far too long to atone for things of the past..but not today. I shed just one tear and as soon as it rolled off my chin and hit the ground..We both nodded at each other simultaneously..then turned toward GiGi's cupcakes and walked in with eager expressions and facemasks to cover them. š§ When we walked inside a gal that was easy on the eyes looked up at us with a grin. She twirled her blonde hair around her finger and popped her big league chew..then elegantly said.."what yall want?". It was obvious this angel was about business. I was light-headed and overwhelmed by the array of colorful options so I asked for advice. Bethann of sevierville made a couple recommendations .. then rounded up 6 of the good stuff and shoved em in a box and sternly looked at us both with a short pause..once at me..then at my son..then back at me one more time before she slowly slid the box across the counter and said..."yuns enjoy". My son and I took off to the car like two ravenous wolves..we hopped in tore open the box and left no evidence behind..I could feel my mind and body regaining it's life and for a moment felt like the clouds opened up right above us as though God was looking down smiling. I will never forget those cupcakes or that knowledgeable cupcake angel that worked the store... for those weary and in need of rest and refreshment.. don't wait anymore years to try GiGis...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeing a serious consumer of cupcakes, cakes, deserts, etc, I was extremely disappointed in the cupcakes. I called and verified if they had filled cupcakes, which she said they did. I got 4 cupcakes and the best cream cheese frosting stuffed cookie I have ever had and will go back for those only. The cupcakes were overly moist, almost wet in consistency. The vanilla pudding filling was an afterthought, or it appeared to be. Why would one use pudding and not a pastry cream or custard in a cupcake filling. Also, the frosting was extremely grainy, not remotely creamy and velvety, as I would expect for a true red velvet cupcake or any cupcake being touted as something special. If its cupcakes, you want to go to publix or food lion amd get a better cupcake. The downside to theirs is that the butter cream frosting they use is way to heavy for me. however, it is creamier then gigu's. The cookie dough brownie was good but verybdence and heavy. I would get that...
