MagiQuest was a BLAST! We had a quick vacation, and we were on a tight budget. Right before we checked out of our budget hotel, which was tiny with zero walking room, I searched for "family activities near me" on Google to look for something we could do to get our wiggles out before the drive home. MagiQuest was the first result, so I read the reviews. Then I checked the prices. For our family of 4, we could do FOUR activities for $89.99 (plus tax - and this was an online-only deal!). I decided to give it a go, as I have driven past that castle dozens of times and have never visited. I was pleasantly surprised. The MagiQuest game was AWESOME! To give you a summary of the activity, you get a wand that has some kind of electronic element, a booklet describing the game, and there are 3 "worlds" to visit upstairs in the building. At any time you can point your wand at a summary screen (provided throughout the worlds), and you choose a quest or see your progress. Using the booklet and clues provided by the summary screen, you visit the different worlds and point your wand at various objects, collecting them to complete the quest. The quests start out super easy and get harder. My family (with two gamer preteens) LOVED it! You only get 60 minutes with the family pass; I was able to complete 2 quests and almost get through a third. There was still a lot more to do! And if you return, you can tell them your name and DOB and they will reload your game so you can continue! Then we played mini golf, went through the mirror maze, and played in the arcade (all included in the family pass). We were at MagiQuest for almost 3 hours, and I've been to Gatlinburg dozens of times and I have never made it out of an attraction for $100 for 4 people. Ever. The MagiQuest part is probably not ideal for anyone under.. 8? I saw some families bringing in toddlers and I thought that was pretty silly; not only can they not understand the quests but there are lots of nooks and crannies and teens/adults walking briskly around to find objects. As far as the crowds, yeah, it's best if there are less people there for the same reasons as anything else. When we first got there, there weren't that many people but they seemed to pile in near the end of our quest. I suggest planning your MagiQuest on an off-peak day/time for best results. I read several reviews that said the mirror maze was much smaller than it used to be, but we still had a blast in it. The rest of my family made it to the exit, but I got stuck and I could see their reflections but couldn't find them. It was hilarious. The mini golf was very fun - blacklight and the courses were okay. It wasn't the best minigolf I've ever done but it wasn't the worst. We had.. I think 42 credits for the arcade? Skeeball was 2 credits per game, if that tells you anything. The wife and I didn't care to play so we let the kids use all the credits. They ended up with 180 points, and got some little trinkets from the redemption stand. Overall, we would totally go back to MagiQuest to continue our adventures. I would definitely choose my day and time wisely. I don't think we would do the mirror maze or mini golf again, but the game and the arcade would be a fun visit in the...
Read moreMy 3 children(15,12,10) and I was on our first getaway since my 12 year old became disabled. We wanted to get out of the resort but what we are able to do is very slim. Even though none of us had any idea what magicquest was we did know what putt putt and mirror maze is and I had seen a couple reviews that said it was wheelchair friendly. I am so relieved to say we had a blast. The quest part seemed to be a little to overwhelming for part of my group, so we ended up just walking around making things light up. We laughed alot. We all want to try it again now that we fully understand what we're doing. Staff offered several times to help if we wanted, but we was happy doing our thing. Staff also offered to help us navigate with the wheelchair. Offering to take us "secert" paths if need be. As cool as that may have been for a second, I'm so glad it wasn't needed. We was able to navigate everything perfectly. The putt putt was definitely a must do. The courses are average, nothing too exciting but the art work is amazing! The look of the place definitely makes it worth at least one visit. Unfortunately, I'm unsure if it's wheelchair accessible. My daughter is able to crawl around on her knees some and wanted to play that way. I was able to easily push the wheelchair through the place. She just didn't try to play from the chair any. The mirror maze. I was most worried about this. I was reassured many times we would be fine. That the paths was plenty big enough. And they was right! Of course we ran into mirrors but everybody does that. We was able to move around at ease. We loved the darkness and music. We found the maze to be a lot of fun. Definitely wheelchair accessible. My favorite part of all was the staff. I tend to ask a lot of questions, I have to becuase of my familys situation. Every staff member we talked to was very patient, kind, and understanding. We constantly(but not too much) had staff offering to help. I really appreciate all the tips we got because of having the wheelchair. It's hard navigating new places, especially on wheels. We will be returning...
Read moreWow this was better than I expected because 1- The staff let us split up the $21.99 packages however we wanted. Most tourist attractions would never do that! We bought two bundles and split them between 4 of us. They basically gave us 8 tickets and said we could use them interchangeably for other things, e.g. instead of two of us doing the laser challenge, all 4 of us got to do the mirror maze. Saved us over $40! Kids played Magiquest while Mom and Dad played putt putt and we all 4 did the mirror maze. Total was $49 with tax and we were there around two hours.
2- My teens grew up playing Magiquest at Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg, VA. This location had 3 realms and they could have played all day. They rushed to do as much in an hour as possible. The fact that a loaner wand is included is epic! Great Wolf made you buy one (another $15 at least!) Definitely well-designed technology for a great scavenger hunt. The only upside to Great Wolf is that the adventure lasts your whole two day stay until you complete your quest. This one is timed by the half hour so it is more of a time race.
3- The mirror maze is no joke - This 38 year old mama got separated from the pack and lost in the middle, going round and round and it was hilarious. I finally changed my strategy and found the fam. It was a good laugh and not for the claustrophobic! Great attraction, lots of fun.
4- Pirate Golf was old and a little run down but the black lights made it fun. Some similar technology to Magiquest upstairs was sprinkled around - 2 motion sensor screens with characters talking to you and a cool moving projected ship scene on one wall. The 18 holes had some fun challenges and it was like a cute little date my husband and I didn’t expect.
All I all a good value considering you get all 4 attractions for $22 per person. We didn’t try the laser challenge (they let us use the tickets for the maze.) So glad we went. Saturdays...
