I have loved The Inn at Christmas Place for years. I usually go about 3 times a year, but last year it didn't seem as it had been in the past, and I have stayed at other places this year. I decided to give The Inn another chance and stay once again this year. I have to say that because of their pool renovations, they have let their rooms be left on the wayside. It was told they have spent $9 million to upgrade the pool because it was sinking. What I could see of it, it is going to be georgeous. The rooms, however, are outdated and need some revamping. For the prices they have gone up to on their rooms, even with a discount is a little pricey. When first stepping out of the elevator, it smelled musty. It was on the 5th floor. The room also smelled musty. I did say something to the host, who offered a different room on the 3rd floor. My friend and I went and checked it out. Also, after walking off the elevator, it had a musty smell, as did the room. We just stayed on the 5th floor. We just went out and bought an air freshener for the room. When we came back, it did smell as if they had sprayed freshener in the hallway. We had a very small television in our room, about 32 inches. The carpet looked dingy and needs replacing. They need to upgrade the shower. The showerhead was small and had very low water pressure. Instead of glass doors, there are shower curtains. The mattresses seem worn but were still pretty comfortable. The room was clean, I have to admit but smelled musty. Maybe it was from the small Christmas tree and wreath. They have the temperature you can set on the thermostat to 65 for the air conditioning. Sometimes I would get so warm in the room I would have to kick my blankets off. I am warm natured and don't appreciate that I couldn't turn it on 64. The room temperature would get up to 67 before the air would come on. The Christmas lights they used to have lit up all the time outside are down to the bare minimum only. I guess they just decorate and go all out more in the month of October until December. They had only the front entrance to the hotel, and one tree was decorated with Christmas lights. The inside is still beautifully decorated. They still serve the delicious breakfast with the option of a homemade omelette in the mornings. People are still very friendly, and they serve the delicious Christmas coffee and yummy cookies at 8 every night. Hopefully they will do some renovations on the rooms after they...
Read moreThere are so many things to say! We truly had a magical two days with our four year old. First, everything is super clean, and the decorations throughout the hotel and the room are just adorable. Secondly, the staff! I can’t stop telling people about how nice every single staff member is. During the Santa concert, he told us he has been there 25 years, and that 50% or more of the staff has been there over 5 years. That speaks volumes! Lindsey at check in was probably the nicest, but we never met one staff member who was rude! I love that they all say, thank you for staying with us whether you’re just getting a drink at breakfast or whatever. It is also obvious the staff have special training for working with children with special needs or learning differences. Santa interacted with two young adults with autism in such a sweet way. He really is a gem. Breakfast was great. They definitely could charge people off the street for it, and I believe they may, but free for guests. The cookies at night time are a sweet touch, drinks in the lobby all day. The selfie machine at the front was my daughter’s favorite thing every time when we came and went. Loved the bell hop! My daughter thought the doors opened on their own at first. Activities-the Ventriloquist was a cute show that my daughter thought was hilarious. Balloons and face painting by the pool was fun, the Santa concert just was a good time for all of us! There’s something to do throughout the day so we didn’t even feel like leaving. The outdoor pool was warm and we spent hours there. We also loved the Bird cages to visit and went to Parrot Mountain one day which was such an awesome experience too. At night, we borrowed a game and DVD from front desk and played and cuddled as a family. I loved seeing my daughter write a letter to Santa in July! I wish we had stayed longer, and I can’t wait to come back. We travel all over, and I can always find at least one detail to say a hotel could do better at, but truly here, I don’t think so! I wracked my brain, and it just was a perfect little...
Read moreWe stayed here for our honeymoon and although the exterior and lobby are beautiful the rooms fall short. The furniture is in desperate need of replacement. One of our lampshades was broken, the coffee table wobbled anytime you touched it, stains on the chairs and the tables were chipped and stained a good deal. When we arrived the woman at the front desk seemed less than friendly. When we got to our room there was disappointment in the overall quality of the room but the decor was beautiful and we were able to look past it…that is until we saw that there was dried food on the remote controls and the red quilt on our bedding. Given it being our honeymoon I didn’t want to deal with it so we bought some disinfectant wipes at the store and I wiped down the remote and tables. We took the quilt off the bed and just didn’t use it. The bathroom was clean but the soap dish was chipped. There was plenty of hot water. The breakfast was good and the characters were kind. I also noticed that there was decor hanging from a sprinkler in our room which is against fire code. The light on our balcony also didn’t work. There was a card that you could fill out with comments and leave for staff but we couldn’t because it was filled out by the previous guests..which again shows the lack of attention when the room was cleaned prior to our arrival. At checkout I informed the staff that our room wasn’t that clean upon arrival, provided them with the previous guests card of comments and let them know that decor is hanging from a sprinkler. I didn’t go into an detail because it was obvious he didn’t care. There was no apology or acknowledgement just a “not surprised” comment back. This hotel is beautiful but between staff hospitality, room quality and cleanliness I am unsure if we will be back which is...
