Do you miss the Fried Chicken that yo' Big Mama used to make? You know, the one that she battered in a brown paper bag and fried in Crisco Vegetable Shortening? Well Baba!!! Look no further. What's Cluckin is here! This beautifully curated Chicken Shack(the proper name for a good chicken spot) is located in Prestonwood Park in Plano. If you see a little outdoor courtyard with Red Umbrella's, you are in the right spot. Upon entering, you are warmly greeted by a simple and exceptionally clean atmosphere of great music and gorgeous local Black Art pieces that adorn every wall. The menu(which is prominently featured over the counter) has your deep-fried fantasy covered. They have everything from traditional fried chicken, to gizzards, fish, okra and more. Mr. ordered the Fried Fish and 2pc Dark Combo and I ordered the Fried Fish and 3 Wing Combo w/Fries. Now, I'm telling you right now! This ain't Popeyes/Church's with Chicken in the window; waitin on you(don't get it twisted, I LOVEs ME some Popeyes/Church's). NO SIR!!! This Chicken is made to ORDER! To guarantee every piece is fresh and pipin hot! The chicken and fish were both golden brown and oleaginous in flavor and seasoning! Every bite delivers that perfect snapping crunch, that only comes with freshly fried chicken. The juice just runs down yo chin! The fish was flaky, without being dry from being over fried and the fries??? Shoestring crispy and fluffy potato'y(IT'S A WORD!!!!) goodness with just the right amount of salt! They even offer their own assortment of condiments and seasonings that you can request on the side! If you got room, they have Banana Pudding, Peach Cobbler, and Cookies, to round out your meal! I wish my grandmother was still alive, but the Lord called her home to fry Chicken for him and gave me What's Cluckin in her place!!! Check it OUT!!!!

What’s Cluckin – Fried Chicken Joint of the Future 🍗 I was seriously craving some fried chicken and decided to browse online for a new spot. That’s when I stumbled upon What’s Cluckin. It was just a 15-minute drive, so I figured, why not? When I arrived, I was thrown off—it’s tucked away in what felt like the middle of nowhere on Legacy West. No big sign, no usual restaurant vibe. For a second, I thought my GPS betrayed me. I almost left, but curiosity won. I double-checked their website and yep—that was the correct address. Here’s the twist: no dine-in. It’s all pickup or delivery only. So I placed an order through their site, got a text confirmation and a live tracking link. Pretty slick. Around 17 minutes later, I got a notification that my order was ready. Walking in felt like stepping into a tech-forward Amazon locker zone. Two screens, a row of lockers—definitely not your grandma’s chicken shack. I entered my code, and—boom—one of the boxes popped open with my food inside. I ordered the 8-piece fried chicken and a side of fried tilapia. Both were cooked just right: crispy, flavorful, not too greasy. That said, they were a tad too salty for my taste—but nothing a cold drink can’t fix. ✅ Pros: Fast, efficient, futuristic pickup system. Tasty food. ⚠️ Cons: Salty seasoning, and no dine-in (just a heads up!). Would I go back? Yes—for the food and the experience. It’s like the Chick-fil-A of 2040.

I live on the other side of Plano, but I wanted to give them a try. The mostly specialize in fried chicken of various types, but they also have fried catfish. Since "Clucking" is in their name, I went with chicken. :-D I had the 4-piece dark with fried okra. I got my food to go because, you know, pandemic, and it was a good 20 minutes back home before I could eat, but in spite of that the food was still good. I liked the chicken, but the real surprise was the hot sauce. I love salsa, but I usually don't care for the usual vinegary-shake-it-from-a-bottle hot sauces. What they gave me was not that. It was tasty and tangy, almost more like a cousin to barbecue sauce. I don't usually put sauce on fried chicken, but this genuinely made it better. Pleasant surprise! The fried okra was good. The serving was larger than I expected. I liked that they double- wrapped. Each item was in its own bag and then they were placed in a carrying bag. This helped them hold their heat and moisture on the long trip home. Service was great and they have a good set up to allow for social distancing while ordering and waiting. One interesting thing is that they have a lot of great art hanging on the walls, worth taking a minute to check them out. They have some paintings that are easily ten-feet tall. Definitely worth checking out!

My son Nick was always going to this restaurant, I would call him doing the week on his lunch break and I didn’t have to ask where he was because I already knew ….What’s Cluckin, one day I wanted to pay for his lunch but I had to use my bank card over the phone so my son ask for the owner, she got on the phone and let me pay for his lunch. I told her I was a little jealous because my son LOVED her chicken and he didn’t eat chicken with the bone in but he ate her chicken, so it much be delicious, I told her when I came to visit him I would have him bring me to try What’s Cluckin. Well I got a chance to go and OH MY GOODNESS!! OH MY GOODNESS!!, listen I live in Grand Prairie TX originally from MS and I don’t know if people ever heard the term..Dirty South, but it is …LA, MS, TN, and AL where food is cooked to perfection, your tastes buds dance with joy and you have no complaints… Well…. when I tell you the food at this restaurant is soooooo delicious😋 cooked to perfection comes out to the table hot and rightly! seasoned and have your taste buds dancing, I could see why this is the spot for me son. And this is funny👉🏾He and his wife went there for lunch one Saturday and he called to tell me that his wife had bit her finger eating her chicken 🤣🤣🤣…..yep! I do not exaggerate when I say THE FOOD IS THAT GOOD. I have added What’s Cluckin to the Dirty South list. You SHALL NOT be disappointed..you shall be hooked. The restaurant is family friendly, owners are wonderful, customers service is very courteous and friendly and the prices are right. I noticed the line can get long but good food is totally worth the wait. I hope one day the owners branch out to Grand Prairie TX, but until then when I go to Plano, now that’s my spot too 😁, it’s a great place, two thumbs up and five...

I’ve been here multiple times when there were way more people and ive never had to wait this long. I placed my order at 554 and my order wasn’t given to me until 630. People came in after me and ordered more food than me and received their order before I received mine. I had 5 pieces of chicken total and two orders of fries. There’s no way people coming in after me placing orders, ordering more food than me…received there orders before me. Truly believe they made us wait that long because I was with a Mexican ma……. REPLYING TO ESTABLISHMENT: people came In after me and placed their order at the counter the same way I did. With way more food then I did and got there food before me. If it was going to take more than 15 mins then that should have been told to me. I understand people called in and door dash orders were placed before me but when people come in after me I’ve already waited for several minutes and place orders at the counter for more food then mine it’s needs to be explained why I’m waiting for as long as I am when they ordered way more food than I did. The gentleman I was with had nothing to do with this review. I mentioned him being a Mexican. I’ve been to this place several times on days that were busy busy. Days were I could barely walk in the establishment. And I order the same thing. 3 damn wings and some fries and no way I’ve ever waited 36 mins because I wouldnt have returned if I did. How about when it’s “busy” you advise the customer that the wait time is 25-30 mins vs 15. If I had a big order I would understand. Not for 5 pieces of chicken and 2...
