Really disappointed in our first and last trip to this place. We were one of several tables that waited far too long for service, and for food that was, at best, average for the price paid. After about twenty minutes, I decided to ask the hostess why no one was serving the tables outside. She explained that only two servers had been assigned to the outdoor tables and that the indoor servers couldn't be diverted to assist. Bizarre.
After one table decided to leave before placing their order, indoor servers finally came to support. Other tables around us complained about the lateness/coldness/accuracy of their orders, but at least food started to come. I had a burger that seemed like a little beef and a TON of bread, along with a mountain of Parmesan truffle fries. My wife had fish, the presentation of which was just strange: a medium-size filet on an oversized plate that made the filet look tiny, swimming in butter, with another mountain of fries served on the side. My wife finished her watered-down drink, and I finished my beer from a carafe that actually made the beverage harder to drink. I tipped our waitress in full; she was perfectly pleasant.
This whole debacle was odd and should be embarrassing. As other tables discussed, none of us were quite sure why the restaurant was so surprised by the number of people at their establishment (maybe it was a matter of "they knew something we did not.") It's a beautiful day on the Jersey Shore and still very much summer... It really should not have come as much of a surprise.
To be clear, I want to aim this directly at whoever manages/owns this establishment rather than anyone serving tonight - you not only fail your guests, but you fail your employees. They WERE genuinely embarrassed at your failure to properly support them with a staff suited for the size of your restaurant. Given the meager quality of the food, exorbitant prices thereof, and obvious understaffing, it's about the most abundantly flagrant cash grab I've experienced in this state yet (and that's saying something). The view's nice, but it sort of loses its luster when all you're looking for is someone to...
Read moreI took a chance and ordered the tacos with grilled Mahi, even though non-fried fish can be iffy at boardwalk food joints. They were surprisingly good. My preference would be corn instead of flour tortillas, but that's uncommon outside a Mexican restaurant. They were served with kettle chips, although you can upgrade to fries or onion rings.
I sat at the bar off to the side near the front entrance, which is oval and has views of the boardwalk and side patio. The doors and windows were open, giving a nice airy feeling. The ambiance is above average for a boardwalk food spot.
Security is in evidence, presumably to deal with prospective underage drinkers and unruly revelers. Perhaps this matters more when there is entertainment (which I gather there sometimes is). But it wasn't an issue on this Monday night.
The bathrooms were clean and can accommodate a lot of potentially over-lubricated patrons. However, it's a little awkward to be confronted with a tip jar and someone handing you a paper towel at the sink. Perhaps this is a tradition left over from...
Read moreToday my partners and myself went to walk in to sit down, buy drinks and hangout in the AC. We where immediately stopped and told we couldn't go in without an ID for my service dog, who was calmly standing next to me and clearly labeled. I calmly explained the laws and showed the security guard a law card that i kept in my wallet and calmly explained the laws on the card. He told me it wasn't up to him and that we weren't allowed inside. At that point my anxiety spiked, causing me to have a panic attack and an asthma attack, which later led to a medical episode. The name of the security officer was Michael. He was not only rude, but completely belittled me and made me feel like I was less of a person because of my disabilities. We have emailed the staff, and haven't gotten...
