Do not come here!!! It's overly expensive for the quality and quantity of the food! I wanted the seafood platter however they would not allow me to change any part of it, even for an up-charge. My stuffed crab came out black from being so burnt, the rest of the food being just minutes away from being brunt as well. My daughter ordered the boiled shrimp salad. She received lettuce, 2 cucumber slice, and 2 tomatoes. The shrimp on the salad was the exact same salad shrimp that you can get at Wal-Mart for $5 and defrost at home. They weren't even fully defrosted and had no seasoning. When we tried to send it back to get something edible, we were told the kitchen, that was cooking my new stuffed crab, was closed. When I asked for the manager, I was told I had to walk across the building to talk to her. When I expressed my shock at having to go to the manager, that was sitting at a table, and made a comment about making disabled people go to her, I was asked if I was disabled. When I confirmed that I am disabled, then the manager was able to come to my table. The manager said the kitchen was closed and had been cleaned, and the cook was about to leave. I said they could take a throw a few shrimp on the grill so my 12 year old could eat. The manager told me my daughter could go hungry. My poor girl ended up with a plain salad, that was watered down. The manager was so rude. A woman at another table turned around while everything was going on and told the manager that was horrible customer service. The manager even said I could take my child to Wal-Mart to eat! Our waitress was very nice and kept apologizing for the manager. She could not believe the way her manager treated us. If we hadn't driven all day to get here and if anything else, that wasn't fast food, had been open we would have left. Do not waste your time or money here. If I could give less than 1...

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I have NEVER been in to a restaurant where every staff member acts as if they wish you were not there. I arrived at 1:30 p.m. to get a quick take out of fried shrimp. It was our first time visiting so I asked the woman behind the glass checkout area about their fried shrimp. Was it fresh or frozen. I realize this area is near the bay but many restaurants still use frozen shrimp. She said fresh. She was not helpful, friendly, kind, or even smiled. I almost walked out but we were hungry so I ordered. The food was HORRIBLE. Shrimp were VERY tough and tasted fishy. Tarter sauce was super sweet. We're Texas folks and this was not even on the mark. When my wife received her food to go, she looked to make sure they put some ketchup in the bag for the fries. She didn't see it so she asked if she could have some ketchup. A random waitress said oh (barely acknowledged her) and the woman who took her money and food order (we're guessing owner) ran to the back. She never came back out so my wife got tired of waiting and left. Customer service, food, cleanliness of place was terrible. (My wife said while walking back to restrooms there was food, straws, crumbs all over the floor. I would not recommend anyone going near this establishment as they clearly don't want business. Side Note: My wife met another lady in the restroom. She said it was their 1st time too and she felt the same way. If you're passing through don't...

Staff didn't know anything about the food or how it was prepared. Asked the waitress how the grilled oysters were prepared. She told us they were fresh and grilled on the half shell. Well, my wife's grilled oysters came out in a sauce.... straight on the plate. No shell, and honestly, the worst oysters I have ever put in my mouth. She had two and lost her appetite. I got the fried seafood platter with fies (nothing had any seasonin), and instead of the Cole slaw or salad, asked for the substitute for half order of onion rings that were only supposed to be $1.50 more. Got the bill and was charged $5.99 (full price) for the substituted onion rings. Questioned the extra charge and was then told that you can't substitute the onion rings for anything but the fries. Asked the manager about it and she was completely unwilling to make the waitress' mistake fore not telling me this when I ordered my food. Asked the manager to show me on the menu where it says you can only sub for fries. Well she couldn't, and still charged me full price. Needless to say the staff and management are very poor. If you want to eat real seafood for a comparable price, then make the drive to Tomball and eat at Captain Brad's Coastal Kitchen. I'm not sorry, but if you think this place is "good" seafood, and staff, then you don't know what a real seafood...

My experience at this restaurant started with high expectations but quickly diminished with the attitudes of the staff members and the perceived owner. Apparently there are not substitutions allowed. And don't even try to get the grilled oysters as an add-on. I ended up ordering a plate of them simply to try them and for the sake of this review. I would have been much better with a side or add on as they were underwhelming. They were quite bland. Each plate came with dirty rice and a seasonal vegetable. The dirty rice may have been a little dry but had a nice flavor. Most of the vegetable was broccoli. I will say the redfish was cooked perfectly as were the shrimp that came along with it. Moving on to the actual pricing of meal. I feel the pricing was quite expensive for the area compared to other restaurants of similar quality and cuisine. Especially since despite the name it is not on the water nor is there a view thereof. All of that said I don't think I personally will return. However to be fair my score is reflective of all conditions.

I was encouraged by the number of cars in the parking lot at almost 2 p.m. The waitress was not very welcoming and seemed to have very little English. Her service was perfunctory and not attentive at all. My wife and I were interested in the grilled fish offerings and she had sea bass and shrimp. I had the seafood plate with grilled catfish, shrimp, scallops, and oysters. The food arrived hot and appeared generous. Went downhill from there. While my catfish was some of the best I have ever had, my wife's sea bass was dry. The dirty fried rice was bland. The grilled vegetables (zucchini, broccoli and onion) was not very well seasoned. The shrimp was okay but on the tough side. The scallops had a bitter edge and the oysters were probably the worst I have ever had. Very fishy! All in all a disappointing meal. I doubt we return.

We drove into Port Lavaca looking for good, fresh seafood and Bayside did not disappoint. We had the jumbo fried shrimp with baked potatoes and calamari for our appetizer. The calamari was fresh cut and hand breaded. The shrimp with jumbo and freshly cooked. The breading wasn’t heavy, and it was very flavorful. The size was perfect. You had the choice of 6 shrimp all the way up to 20. We are so glad we stopped in, this was some of the best shrimp we’ve had in a long time and it was worth the drive over from Bay City.
