DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION HERE!! I stay in hotels 4 nights a week traveling for work. I walked in to this location expecting my usual friendly check in process. I was 1 foot in the door when Amanda barked do you have a reservation I said yes I do. She said where is your credit card. I said the reservation was called in the card is on file. She then starts yelling that I have to have the card with me. (We dont have physical cards it is an app that generates a number and we use it at hotels including best westerns every week but if there is a problem I use my personal card then get reimbursed) I started to explain that to her and she is just screaming that she has to have the physical card she didnt even let me explain. So I stepped outside to call my person in charge of booking my hotels explained to her the situation asked if she would speak with her because for some reason she is mad at me. I walked back in and said do you mind speaking to her. She screamed at me I'm not talking to anyone. At this point I'm in disbelief walk out stunned I've literall stayed in hundreds of hotels all over the world this is the rudest employee of a hotel I've ever experienced. My hotel coordinator then called the hotel to try to figure out what was going on she screamed and cussed at her that we weren't staying there unless we had the physical card in hand. (At this point I want to say maybe the policy at this location is you have to have the same card you made the reservation with and that's all they will accept even though I had the card on an app and a pocket full of other cards but I had no chance to even ask. I promise I was extremely friendly with her never raised my voice or complained just calmly tried to come to a solution and she was ranting and raving and screaming at me for no reason.) She then charged our credit card for the nights stay even though her entire claim was she couldn't let us stay there unless we had the card. So then we got best western corporate involved and there response was basically she is the manager and she has the authority to charge the card or not and there was nothing they could do about it gave me a reference number and promised to try what they could to solve the issue never called me back. My hotel coordinator finally got back ahold of them and basically got ever hotel is individually owned and there is nothing that can be done we tried to call the owner of the hotel they...
Read moreWORST EVER hotel experience. The room smelled of mold, there was urine on the toilet seat, we booked a room with two beds yet we only had one set of towels when we asked for another set the lady at the front got an attitude with us and asked us to do the housekeeping and take them the dirty set of towels. Well at the end of the day I take all the towels that we have used so we can get a new set of towels to use the next day. There wasn't anybody at the front desk when I went so I waited a little bit to see if somebody would show up so I can let them know that I left them all the towels that we had and that we needed new ones. After waiting about 10 minutes I decided to look around and see if I found anybody to help me I heard someone in the breakfast area and I thought it was housekeeping but turned out to be the lady that was supposed to be at the front was in the pantry snacking on the food. After I told her that we were without towels and we needed some clean ones she said with an attitude "well I will have to check with my manager" after we waited about an hour for our towels I went again downstairs to check what was the status on getting towels after I explained to her that my family and I were without towels now she threatened me and said if I didn't leave that she would call the police I told her go right ahead and call the police over towels. Well she did, when the police arrived they couldn't believe that they were called there over guest not getting towels AT A HOTEL, which is absolutely unheard of. So the police had them refund us our money for the stay there and we ended up going to the Quinta Inn down the street. When we explain to the lady at the Quinta Inn our situation she wasn't surprised to hear what happened to us she said she used to work there and they always had complaints and the owner would never do anything about it she gave us an extra set of towels to start with and made us feel welcome and comfortable we will never go to a Best...
Read moreLet me start by saying my family and I travel a lot and we've stayed in lots of hotels of varied quality. I went down with my 2 kids and took my friend and her 2 kids, just for one night. It's cheap enough and clean but we had a mixed bag of experiences. I guess the staff are nice. They didn't go out of their way at all. Lots of work crews seem to stay here. It has a decent pool but if you go at night be sure to take bug spray. There are mosquitoes everywhere. My room smelled terrible. I'd read other reviews discussing this but didn't worry about it too much. Whatever mildew is in the room or A/C unit seemed to bug mine and my son's sinuses. I would've mentioned this to the desk person if I'd ever seen one again after check-in. My friend's room didn't have hot water for the shower which was weird because her sink did. When she called the desk, the manager said to just let it run. When my friend said she'd done that, the manager basically said oh well and didn't offer to move her to another room or apologize or anything. The place wasn't full so we weren't sure why they didn't offer. Breakfast is only until 9 so make sure you get down there quickly. It's OK, not the best I've seen but certainly not the worst. Overall the hotel is convenient to what little there is in Port Lavaca. I'd stay there again if I...
