Update - February 2022 - Raised rating from 3 to 4 stars. Have had pickup a couple of times since this review, and ate at the restaurant once. In these occasions, everything was correct and very good! The combination of steak and coconut shrimp is delicious! And, if you like carrots, you will love their sweet carrots! Excellent! I also received a free dessert for my birthday, which was the chocolate cake and ice cream, which was also delicious! Cheddars is moving up!
Update - November 2021 - Lowered rating from 5 to 3 stars because of constant errors in pickup orders. My wife and I have chicken meals. I have the lemon pepper chicken and my wife has the same but minus the lemon pepper, which converts the meal to plain, grilled chicken strip. However, for the past THREE times I have ordered, they have given my wife the same chicken as me, even though the order is correct on the receipt. The first and second time, I neglected to check what I received. But, this time, as soon as I ordered, I called the restaurant and explained the issue I had, and asked that they please double check my order. The young lady who answered read back my order, which was correct, and promised that she would check it "if she had time". Well, after I received my order at my car, I checked it and, "big surprise", it was wrong for the third time in a row. So I went into the restaurant to complain and was taken care of by a nice manager who was very apologetic and explained that they do make this error sometimes. I did explain that it was my third time in a row and that I had even taken the step of calling the restaurant before I picked up my order to avoid the issue. He apologized again and asked me to wait while the remade the entire order, which took about 8 minutes. Now, with all these issues, you might wonder if I got a credit for the order. No. Free extra meal? Nope. Free dessert? Nah. I got an apology but not much hope that I won't have this very same issue a 4th time in a row. So, while I enjoyed a perfect order the first time, the next 3 experiences were not so pleasant. So, bye bye cheddars!
Good service, very good food, reasonable prices. Place gets very crowded. UPDATE - 9/21: I ordered curbside pickup for the first time (ordered online). I ordered the lemon pepper chicken meal, which came with 2 delicious sides (broccoli cheese casserole and sweet carrots). Everything was very good, service was friendly and quick, and order included their delicious croissants. And, importantly, the order was perfect! Since then, I have ordered curbside a second time, with the same positive result. I am going to make it a...
Read more1st….. very rude manager This is a well established chain eatery of American food. It was our first time. Ambiance lovely, food on the level of a trendier Cracker Barrel. Our server was super personable….. but…. She made many mistakes. We told her immediately that it would be 2 checks. We were 2 couples. The couple with us ordered an appetizer. WE did not want to order our entree right away because we did not want everything to come out at the same time. Our server stated adamantly that a delay would be put on our order. The appetizer of chips with queso did not have enough chips. Our server asked us if we wanted more . She never brought them. (Mistake) As we were eating our salads, the entree came out. (mistake). We had asked for a delay ! Shrimp and chicken dishes were way too salty along with the bed of rice they were served on. We asked 3 times for another glass of water. (Mistake). We had to ask 3 times for extra plates for our appetizer but were told they were still being washed and did not have clean ones yet. ( Mistake) When the bill came, it had items charged to the wrong couple. ( Mistake) but the worst Mistake came from the manager. We had our server call him over for a wrong charge. We were charged for a full price salad instead of the up charge on the extra side. Even though it is worded very poorly on the menu…. The manager said, “ it’s clear to us how it’s worded” …. Yet made no attempt to adjust the bill. It was about 80 cents on a 60 dollar bill. It was a very small amount, but the point is how rude he was. Sadly… our server lost out the most as it was reflected in her tip. The food is over salty, and mostly just upscale bar food. The management needs a refresher in hospitality We will not return. ….. especially with management...
Read moreI frequent cheddars in Kingsport, TN and Johnson City, TN quite often, they're my go to spots when I visit family in Tennessee. I was excited when I found out we were getting one closer to home(st Lucie west, fl).
And let's begin!
First thing that caught my attention, they skimped out on the usual fun atmosphere that I've always associated with Cheddar's. No aquarium and/or a unique jungle/outdoors inspired centerpiece. Lack of lighting to elevate the mood. I tend to like darker restaurants but this had a melancholy feel too it, and left me feeling "ehhhh". After being sat we had to wait a solid ten minutes before being waited on. I usually disregard wait times, I know how businesses can be and so forth so I originally paid it no mind. After closer observation there was an overabundance of staff, walking around, goofing off for the most part. I felt like 10% of the staff was actively customer focused and the rest didn't care. Our waitress is the only reason my review wasn't a one star. I could tell she was newer but she gave it her all and went above and beyond for us.
The food was horrible. The salad dressings were overpowering, the spinach dip had no cheese and was undercooked, our steaks were well done when we asked for medium. There was so much wrong with the food I didn't feel like bringing it up with a manager on duty to fix. The famous croissants were sadly lackluster. It made sense why the place was so empty after we had our dinner. I was so bummed out, especially having had such wonderful experiences at different locations. This place needs a fun revamp/remodel and the staff needs an overhaul to be...
