Well, to begin with... VERY helpful young employees, seemingly ever on hand to make an ice cream and/or topping suggestion. (For the record, Brownie Bits go with EVERYTHING!) But... great as the desserts are - we were here for the FOOD! When in Tampa recently, my wife and I went to Culver's and I tried the fried COD (which I'd seen crowned "Best Fast Food Fried Fish Sandwich in Florida" in a YouTube video, so I HAD to try it). We drove about half an hour from our home in Vero Beach down to Tradition. (Fortunately the Culver's there is VERY near the I-95 exit.) Our food was freshly prepared, quickly, and there wasn't a particularly long wait. We were given a number and sat down at one of the many available booths. (This was around 7 pm, so we'd just missed the dinner hour.) Self-serve soft drinks (about a dozen) and iced teas. After tasting my fish at the Tampa location, my wife ordered a fish platter as well, which is high praise from her, as she rarely goes for fish...
Well, for the second time, we were NOT disappointed! The about-1"-thick, lightly battered (NOT breaded!) COD planks were lightly fried (not greasy/oily, but the fish was well-cooked) and the flesh was firm but flaky, and the flavor surprisingly delicate. If you buy the fish, please be sure to taste it well before slathering it with tartar sauce or malt vinegar! You MAY decide - like me - to only squeeze a bit of lemon onto your fish... What a treat!
I feel I MUST acknowledge what is, for many, the magnetic specialty of Culver's, and that is the legendary "cheese curds". For those who have never had the pleasure of enjoying these, they are breadcrumbed and deep-fried cheese bits. Two slightly differently flavored curds (white and yellow cheddar) and they don't taste very different from one another. They're kind of a bite-sized mozzarella stick. My wife is surely sold on 'em!
To cap it all off, the aforementioned ice cream (shakes). Lots and lots of mix-in options, so you can't go wrong...
On the way home, my wife and I couldn't stop talking about what a great meal ot was. So great in fact that the dogs hardly got anything out of the "doggie bags" when we got home... ...
Read moreWe love Culver's and stop at different Culver's locations all the time. The food is consistently very good and got a great tasting meal here too. When I ordered, I asked that the frozen custards come out later, one chocolate and one strawberry, which happened to be the flavor of the day. We enjoyed our meals and when it came time to go back to the counter to get the frozen custards, that is where Culver's failed Customer Service 101. Here is what happened. I showed my receipt which showed two dishes of custard. The Culver's employee made them and brought them out, one vanilla and one strawberry. Again, I showed the receipt and asked that the vanilla one be changed to chocolate. She then took the vanilla one and threw it away. I told her we would have eaten the vanilla one if we knew it would only be thrown away. She said she had to throw it away. Huh? She then made the dish of chocolate custard for me and put it on the tray with the strawberry one and it was obvious they were two different sizes. The original vanilla one was the same size as the strawberry but now this new chocolate one was half the size. I explained that the strawberry one was for me and I could not go back to our table with two different sizes, where I'm getting the big one. The employee insisted they were the same size and offered to weigh them for me. How absurd! Was she going to bring the scale to the table to show us both??? They were not the same size either, as the pictures show. We will take this in stride and assume the employee got mad when I showed her the receipt the second time. Giving me the smaller one they she re-made was her little retaliation. Poor customer service any way you look at it and a laugh or two looking...
Read moreI don't know who does the training at this location for the employees but this store greatly LACKS customer service!
I've been to this location multiple times but the most recent trip I could not belive the service - I'm sorry, the LACK of service I received.
First off when I walked in the store there was only one person ahead of me, but 3 employees at the counter/register, only 1 of which was helping a customer. One of the other ones not helping anyone or doing anything gave me a blank stare, no greeting, no hello, NOTHING. I had to ask "are you open? Are you ready?".. Nothing.. I walked to her register to start ordering and she just had a blank stare (mind you it was quite clearly obvious she was high from smoking maryjane as her eyes were extremely bloodshot). I had to stop myself ordering and ask "are you here on earth? Are you even going to acknowledge me?"... Nothing. No response, just staring into space.
I stepped back, stopped ordering and went to the cashier that was actually helping someone still, while the 3rd cashier was still doing nothing!
The cashier that helped me barely spoke any words as well as I was ordering and even when done ordering she just handed me my receipt, no number tag, no "have a nice day" or 'enjoy your meal' NOTHING! Just turns around to continue her conversation with another employee!
Proper customer service training is needed at this store ASAP! Perhaps go take some training lessons...
