My children and I were passing through Portland from the Seattle area around dinner time and we stumbled upon the Moonlight Mediterranean Food Cart. I was so excited to see food truck style food (my favorite), especially gyros, and wanted to share my love for this style food with my children. My daughter ordered the chicken and rice, my son the chicken gyro, and myself having the lamb gyro. The (I assume to be owner of the food cart) cooking and I had a great conversation and he even let me sample the chicken for a flavor check before plating it. He asked me to trust him and have him make the chicken wrap and lamb wrap instead of the gyro style; and wow was I blown away with the flavor and love that went into the food he presented to my children and I! He even dished up a container of tzatziki sauce for me after I expressed a deep love for it. Such an wonderful and delicious experience we had there. My children even told me he was the nicest man they had met recently. I canât wait to go back just to stop by his food cart again. You wonât be disappointed in your experience here. I strongly recommend stopping and checking it out...
Read moreSimply THE BEST FOOD MEDITTERANEAN FOOD CART IN THE CITY! In the sea of food carts offering gyros, shwarma, kufta kabobs, etc. MMFC is unquestionably the best of them all. From shrwarma to hamburgers, all of his food is tasty & it is consistently excellent. HUGE bonus that they are open llate, regardless of hours I would visit MMFC no matter what time of day. No other food cart sautes onions with their meat elevating the dish a higher level. No shortcuts are taken with their scratch hummus and tzaziki that is a splash of cool freshness with every bite of meat and rice. The owner recommends a touch of salt in his tzaziki since he leaves it out because it effects the structure unless added when you are going to eat it. I have been visiting here weekly for a year & will continue to do so. Frankly, if given a choice between traditional meditteranean restaurants or MMFC, my choice is MMFC because their food is just as good, in...
Read moreIâve had middle eastern food in these food carts almost in every major city and I can confidently say this is the worst of all Iâve ever had. I wouldnât say itâs objectively bad, but itâs just that food carts are often so good that this place doesnât reach that threshold. Weâve had the chicken over rice; the chicken, which Iâm pretty sure, is stale. It doesnât chew right. The rice is okay. However, the sauces that provide a lot of flavor are kinda bland. Even when I asked for a lot of white sauce, he kinda disregarded it. While I was confirming what exactly comes in the box, he wouldnât answer and just shrugs off.
And most importantly, Iâm not sure why itâs $14, when itâs way cheaper in bigger cities like NYC, SFO, and Philly (you can get really good food for like $8-$10). There are several carts right next to this, and it seems to be like the standard price for...
