So many recommendations from Portlanders for these burgers that I had to try it. I was staying at a hotel in downtown Portland and wanted to order dinner in because I had a long day of flying and just wanted to relax in my room. I looked at various ways to order a burger from Killer Burger and decided to go the UberEats way, which saved me a few dollars. I ordered the original size Bender burger with fries. It took about 30 minutes to get my meal and it came from a bicyclist who had to ride in the rain and who (as he told me as he dropped off my burger) got caught up with another delivery and an issue with that other restaurant. I felt bad for him and excused the delivery of a warm, not hot, burger and fries. Thank goodness I travel with a HotLogic which I used to warm up the burger and fries. It worked but I had to wait another 20 minutes to eat. The burger: This burger was very tasty and cooked perfectly. It had bacon, crispy jalapeños, grilled onions, BBQ sauce, their house sauce, and cheddar cheese. They didn't skimp on their toppings and the combination of it all was delicious! I also appreciated all the sauces. I do like saucy things! The bun was fresh and was the perfect size for the patty and the toppings.I ordered fries to go with it and they were good, not excellent, and there weren't very many. For the price I paid for the fries I don't think the value was there. I'm not sure I would order the fries again. The burger, however, was great! Next time I will walk there (in the daylight because the area is a bit questionable for a single, woman traveler) and try another burger hot off the grill. (I can't believe I have no pics for this...
Read moreAwesome burger but the establishment suffers from two major drawbacks.
The burger is TOO awesome. The first bite is overwhelming with flavor and very delicious but as you keep eating, that becomes overpowering. You quickly become fatigued with the bold taste. My girlfriend and I had to switch our burgers back and forth 4 occasions because we kept getting sick of the taste. There was no subtle harmony, every ingredient was rich and bold which creates a great first impression but should be used in small doses. There was nothing to cleanse our palate.
The restaurants layout of "pay first, eat, get out" really impacts the service. Besides the initial ordering and payment, we never had any interaction with the workers. Not once did they come and check in on us or ask us for more beer or even a box to take our leftovers. They constantly walked back and forth but refused to acknowledge our existence. Some might like that but in my opinion service is a major staple in the dining experience. The fact they have a tip basket as well as a tip option for cards when they give less of a service than typical high school McDonalds servers is kind of pretentious.
Overall, the experience is like a theme park, amazing at first but...
Read moreI unfortunately was given the wrong burger and had to wait a long time to get it.
I showed up around 12:45 and ordered a mushroom burger. There were no lines, but the place was pretty full. There were still a couple tables outside and inside that were not filled.
My son had time to walk over to another restaurant, pick up his order, bring it back and eat it, while I waited outside for my Killer Burger.
I finally went inside, and they said it was just about ready. Unfortunately I had to get going, so I went back in again and asked them to package it up to go - I'm still looking forward to the burger at this point. I got my order fairly soon after that.
When I got back to Wilsonville I opened the box to find a Jalapeno burger. It would have been ok, if it was a regular burger or something (even the hemp burger sounds interesting :/ ). But I really don't like jalapenos. Ugh.
Its really a stretch to give these guys a three star rating based on the wait and getting the order messed up, but they were very nice and I liked them (not the jalapeno burger, of course).
I don't have a problem with them though. Everyone makes mistakes once in a while. I'll try them again another time, and maybe (hopefully) change my...
