This afternoon/evening I had a bit of a interesting interaction. My husband and I went to Mulligans on Hawthorne to grab a drink and to play pool. After our first drink, an first game, two others asked to join, which was no issue. But, after a game or so of playing, we were all laughing and having fun. The other gal was being just a wee bit rambunctious, and loud with her laughter. No big deal. We were approached by one of your gals(the one with skull and crossbones tattoos on her right arm?)?who was tending at the time explaining that we were being âloudâ and giving her a âheadacheâ(seriously), so we needed to tone it down and that customers had left because of it(even tho when my husband and I walked in, the same folks were still sitting there when we left.). Given the respect, an circumstance begrudgingly we/she did. After another while of playing, the gal laughed/shrieked in her victory in pool. The bartender gal again came by an said she needed all of us to leave, and that she was closing out the tabs. The husband was confused, and also irritated at the circumstance, and asked for a manger name or number. The bartender gal explained she was not at liberty to say. As I went to pay out my tab respectfully, this gal proceeded to argue, an cause conflict with me, all while explaining the loudness was just the other party having fun, an to argue people had left because of it was ridiculous because the same people were still there? Then she said, âwell they may not have left but I have had complaints.â Seriously? I tried to explain we literally did nothing wrong but have a good time laughing and playing pool, and apologized for the boisterous behavior, and with her proceeding of foul mood/attitude, I then told her âif she couldnât handle it, then maybe she should not be in the profession she is in.â We asked for a business card and again was denied, what kind of business is this? It doesnât seem right nor fair to be treated in such manner for no reason really and then both being denied names an numbers for being treated horrendously? With this being said it was a bit irritating and frustrating. But nonetheless no skin off of anyoneâs nose because there are plenty of other pubs to visit while on Hawthorne. So. As horrible as it may be, and or seem to each their own. We will not be revisiting. And with every human I come by, and we happen to get in the subject, you will get nothing but a a bad, and disgusting...
Read moreI get it. Your proud of your establishment and protective of the patrons and "facilities". My wife and I visiting from LA just for a few days came to the quintessential Hawthorne area and popped in to use the restrooms. No sign that says "for patrons only", etc. Cool place and probably would have come back for a drink or 5 after tonights concert, unfortunately the female bartender had no class or business acumen to consider this possibility. She took the opportunity to show off how witty she could be by sharing with my wife, while she waited for me, that the "public restrooms were out on the street". As in actually on the street. Way to f@$& up a great reputation that Portland has. TO THE OWNER: Please let the people representing you, your establishment, and Portland know that folks are going to be in and out and either post something to preclude this unfortunate exchange or just be nice to visitors. You may end up with a 10% increase in profit margin. Yes, I'm pissed. And... thanks...
Read moreThe owner or the manager needs to look at and their surveillance and see the disaster that happened last night. My sister ordered the spiked hot cocoa special and the bartender went, put hot water, and then the alcohol. I then asked for the same thing so the bartender stopped and went to get a new cup and added hot water and put it on the bar. She then grabbed the alcohol, and instead of pouring the alcohol into my cup she poured it again into my sister cup. I made a comment about that, and the bartender told me that was wrong and smelled the cup that she put a double into, and says it smells boozy. And instead of adding alcohol from the bottle, she goes in pours some of my sisterâs mix into my cup and TOPS IT OFF WITH HOT WATER. So now my sister has a cup with 1.75 shots (whatever the serving amount is) and I have 0.25 with extra water. And this cost us $9 each. Extremely...
