Jen’s is a nice, clean restaurant, reminiscence of a local diner, yet contemporary at the same time. The first thing I noticed while waiting for a table is the outstanding staff. Each of them is serving the customer (and the business), cleaning, or bringing value to the business in some way. They are fast and efficient, always on the hustle. Our server was always scanning to see what be needed. She was extremely nice, polite, and customer-focussed. Every staff member I encountered was professional and accommodating. The restaurant was spotless, yet relaxed. With its combination of Americana, humor, and patriotic themes, the decor has effectively created an atmosphere that I find eye-catching and appealing.
We arrived about an hour before closing, and the place was crowded. Yet, we waited only about 8 minutes for a table. We ordered from a menu that is well balanced and should accommodate most appetites. There is something for everyone. Our food came out in a reasonable time. My wife ordered the Catalina Omelette. This humongous omelette, the owner later informed us, is a 10-egg omelette! My wife took more than half of it home for lunch the next day. My wife exclaimed, “This is the best omelette I’ve ever had.” It was because it was not over-cook as most are typically dry, rather than moist. Being a retired chef, this bruised my ego a bit. I sampled her omelette and had to agree. The dish was flawlessly cooked and seasoned. It's also a big plus that Jen's offers a wonderful gluten-free bread-toast my wife said was delicious.
I like spice. So, I ordered the Mexicano Scramble because I enjoy chorizo, guacamole , tortillas, and salsa. This dish did not disappoint. I requested a side of their salsa, and it was like what I make at home, but milder. So I was still a happy camper. I would readily recommend this to anyone.
The service was so outstanding; we requested to speak with the owner, Jen. Jen is such an amazing person. She easily spent 10 or more minutes with us, sharing her experience with us. She has a devout respect for the tough business in which she works, and the hardworking staff that reports to her. Her leadership is reflected in the positive attitude of her staff. This is clear in the cheerful greetings, collaborative spirit, and willingness to go the extra mile that permeates the workplace. There is a palpable sense of mutual respect and support among colleagues. This positive atmosphere translates into higher levels of productivity, improved customer satisfaction, and a thriving business. I believe Jen’s ability to inspire, motivate, and empower her team is the cornerstone of her success.
The most challenging part of my experience was deciding what to order off the menu. She offers so many of my favorite diner options. My wife last night commented, “I can’t wait to return to Jen’s.”
Well done, Jen, and all your staff. We’ll see you soon....
Read moreI am a local and I go so far back, I used to go to Unky Roy's in Manhattan Beach, CA, who was the dad or uncle of the owner.
I discovered Jen's, 5 years ago when I moved to Prescott Valley. Everyone that visits me likes it but I find it to be inconsistent. One time it will be good and the next time... terrible.
I've been there twice in the last week of Sept 17, 2024 and both times the food and service were terrible. My guest ordered a veggie sandwich. She did not like it. It had chilies in it and nothing like you would expect a veggie sandwich to have. You should have had cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, sprouts, not what you brought to her and it was so awful, we threw it away.
Service was spotty. We kept having to ask for coffee refills. I got the blue tsunami and I wanted my pancakes more well done! They didn't do that, so they took them back and the server never brought them back to the table again, until I had to ask. By then, I done eating. The bacon looked like it was pre-cooked and then reheated in a microwave. Nothing looked fresh.
Yesterday we came in on September 22nd and my guest ordered a breakfast sandwich, and it was greasy. It wasn't appetizing in anyway and the hash browns were raw. She sent the hash browns back and they came back raw again. And the server didn't look really accommodating.
So that's two meals ruined that we had to pay for. I had the lo-cal plate and they keep cooking the meat raw, after I say medium. The salad didn't look fresh... And, we're stuck in the back of the restaurant and forgotten.
So I probably spent $100 at your restaurant for two people for two visits. And not only are you overpriced, the quality has gone down the drain. The service is starting to go down as well and I won't be back.
I honestly want like my money back. That...
Read moreTo start, I love the food at Jenns! When dining in I’ve always had good experiences. However, during this time of pandemic the customer service has plummeted. We are only eating local to try and keep our small local businesses going and I’ve now had a couple bad customer service experiences over the past couple weeks with Jenns. Most recent, this morning, on Mother’s Day, causing this review. To start, I know it’s Mother’s Day, I know a lot of our local businesses are slammed. To which I say in this pandemic they should be grateful for their community keeping them going. However, upon calling today, a young lady picked up the phone. I inquired on placing an order for pick up. Her response in a very short snippy tone was “NO we aren’t taking anymore pick up orders for at least half an hour so call back then”, and hung up. I understand you all are busy, but there is a way more polite way to express to your customers that you are backed up. Either 1) take the order and explain that it won’t be ready for 30-45 minutes. Or 2) explain that you don’t have anyone available to take the orders at that time due to the flood in orders and politely ask that they call back in 30 minutes or so, then like a decent human being say goodbye, have a nice day, etc... the way I was spoken to was very rude and abrupt and unfortunately has a lasting impact on whether or not I return my business to Jenns in the future. The way you treat people goes a lot further than how good your food is. Probably a good thing to keep in mind. Especially in times when your community and locals are what’s keeping your business going. This is a small local AZ town, not a big city in CA. You should learn how to speak to your customers a...
