Sometimes it can be exciting to just go on Google maps and try a restaurant that you've never been to before. I stopped by Tamale Market today and I'm glad I did. The owner has been in the restaurant business for 40+ years and takes time to really research to see what makes food better. I like his confidence in it as well. He offered to let me try one before I order. I now have a place to get my tamale fix and it's just here in Provo. I could probably just eat the masa and be satisfied. I'll ordered 1/2 dozen green chile pork tamales. Too bad there wasn't any Jarritos because that's the perfect drink with tamales. I'll have to come back and try the other tamales. Remember to support your local businesses.

Read moreGreat service, very kind people… the tamales were not it tho, I expected the green chile and cheese to be savory but the masa seems to be made of canned corn since it’s unbelievably sweet rather than savory, this goes for the red chile and chicken as well. The red ‘salsa’ is too thick so it comes out pretty dry even if you steam them to heat them up (its spicier than the green one but in combination with the sweet masa???). Maybe this suites the Utah palate or a specific part of Mexico but not its what I was expecting. The price is pretty high considering the high yield of tamales they make, even if you buy a lot. This wasn’t my cup of tea but at least I know now, like I said they are very kind people...
Read moreWhat are you doing? Well, You should head straight to Tamale Market just off of Freedom Blvd in Provo! Hurry! You don't want to miss out on these tamales. They will serve you warm husks enveloping fresh masa stuffed with richly flavored meat, cheese, or veggies. We loved the moistness of the tamales and distinct flavors and the masa has kernels of corn in it (didn't realize how much I would love that). These authentic tamales also come with authentic salsa that they should start selling...
