Overall, I love Shah's! Great food that hits the spot for lunch!
With all that being said, I have feedback for todays experience.
I placed a to go order on the phone today around 11:55 am. I asked if I could have the order split. The reason I wanted it split because I was getting food for friends at school, and we were all paying seperately. The person on the phone who took the order seemed mildly annoyed, though I was not sure.
Just for some background on myself- I am a general manager at a full service seafood restaurant. I am very big on customer service and I expect the cashier/server to at least act like they are pleased to help out a paying customer, or at least do their best to help someone out even if they are having a bad day.
So, when I get to the restaurant and walk through the door, the cashier is standing in front of the register and sees me walk in. He seemed young (If I had to guess,18-25) I walk towards him, and was just stared at and not greeted. There were no customers in the lobby so I found it odd that he didn't at the very least say "welcome". As I am closer to him, I said "How's it going man?!" He did not answer back. As I was almost in front of him, I repeated, "how's it going man?" He basically responded in such a way where it seemed like he did not want to be at work and did not take pride in his work. His response was quick "What can I get for you?" There was no smile either. Yes I know, in this pandemic we must wear masks, but I can tell by the eyes At this point I was irritated because I had already evaluated his attitude in my mind. I was convinced that he didn't really care about my guest experience, and I was just another "nagging customer". Like I said, I work in the industry so I understand what it means to deal with an unreasonable naggy customer. However, I was just a happy paying customer that wanted to get some good food. So since I'm irritated, in response to his quick response, I said snarkily "Well you are quite the talkative one arent you?! Im just messin' with you man..." I was trying to point out the fact that he is not really giving great customer service with his demeanor and words. He might as well have said when I came in, "What do you want??" That is the vibe he gave out to me. I then told him I have 3 seperate orders for 'David'. He grabs all three, and asks me which one I want to pay for first. I told him that we could start with the first one. So I give him a 50 dollar bill for the first one and he grabs it and holds it up to me and says "You could pay for all 3 with this." He basically was saying that I was being a difficult customer for doing 3 seperate orders. In my mind Im like "what?? you are telling a paying customer who is making 3 seperate sales at this business that they are being difficult?"
I mean seriously. What did this guy want me to say? Lol. Like I started to explain why it was important for me to do three seperate payments... 3 different people ordering with 2 different bills and one debit card. I dont even know why I began to explain myself. he made me feel like I was making his day more difficult
So this young man says "I dont think I can break this 50". I pause for a couple seconds.... since he said "I dont think" I assumed that he was going to try at least. I responded "Are you sure you cant break this"? He said "yes...". At this point I had noticed this older tall gentleman behind him near the expo window. He seemed like he would be the owner or manager. So I asked the cashier if he would go ask his manager to see if hes got some change somewhere- in the safe or his wallet or something. His expression showed that he was reluctant to ask, but he did. Well, what do you know, the tall gentleman had the change for the 50.
I gave a 5 star review because I love shahs. I am not going to give a 1 star review based on one bad customer service experience. There are many variables that make a restaurant good or not.
But please, work on employees hospitality. Thanks for...
Read moreI grew up with Greek friends, Lebanese friends and restaurants all-over NJ and Florida, that would burn this place to the ground if they knew they claim "authentic" foods! Falafel was frozen type. No taste whatsoever. Salad platter was that of a prison/boot camp type set up. A tiny helping of bagged romaine, and a few transparent slices of tomato and onions. Sauce has zero flavor!? Wth!? Tzitiki sauce should burst in your mouth. This is the weakest food I've ever had. Soooooo Typical of Pueblo. Pueblo, Colorado: Where Food Comes to Die. Never again. Sheesh.
So, you're bragging about being born in the ME yet your food is American themed mostly so..? Your food is typical Pueblo slop. You could serve dog food covered in green chile and the locals would eat it up and give 5 stars! I mean, Pueblo is where food comes to die. I've got a group of friends from all over The East Coast here and this is our main topic of discussion. Don't brag about authenticity when you live in Pueblo. Authenticity means nothing here. Sorry, not Sorry. The baklava was ALL PASTRY with the tiniest line of pulverized nuts. Not even a tablespoon of sauce for a meal!? Tiniest helping of cheese (literally 5 pieces, not chunks) and please tell the blonde man at the counter, to stop SPINNING the bags of food as he exits kitchen. Watched him do it several times. You serve loose food and numb nuts is spinning the bag around his finger like a yoyo. My salad was all over the place and dressing...
Read moreOUTSTANDING!!!! For the foodie, world traveler, or those simply educated about quality food and fine restaurants Pueblo is a very sad place. Great food for anymore wanting more than green chili cooked a million different ways is few and far between in this town. However, Shah's is one of the Greats in Pueblo that's hit inventive, fresh, quality food out of the park. At Shah's it's not only the fresh ingredients used in every dish that keep you wanting more but the fabulously friendly staff and impeccably clean environment lureing you back for yet another visit time and time again. My Husband just might sell his soul on a day he's famished for Shah's Mongolian Gyro. In his mind there aren't enough great words to be said about this gyro. Shah's makes all their meat fresh and it shows through with every bite you take. I truly enjoy Shah's falafel plate and falafel salad. I'm not vegetarian in am way, I've also had most of the meats offered but it can be tough to find falafel made fresh that's not dried out and falling apart or tasteless. The baklava and funnel cake are mouth watering. I don't have enough space to praise every item on the menu so I encourage everyone to go taste test for yourself. You'll be glad you did. Thank you Shah family for bringing such a wonderful diverse place where everyone is always welcome to the town of Pueblo. We'll be back soon!!! In the words of my husband... Shah's is so...
