This place has a great food and drink selection, everything I have had is fantastic. Staff is always amazing, super friendly and really cool! However, to me it is not a great place to play board games with friends. I have come twice, and each time it is incredibly loud. Maybe for some that is not a problem. I don't mind some noise--it makes things feel active and exciting. But I have to yell to explain rules/play the game with my friends because it's so loud. It's exhausting, distracting, and frustrating. I went on a night they had trivia as well, which made the noise experience even worse (I had checked to make sure no events were going on to avoid this, but guess I missed it somehow because I did not know it was happening). The trivia seemed to clash with the other tables playing games. I may come here to join exclusively in events like trivia, or just talk to people/eat drink. But not to meet friends/other people for...
Read moreI’ve been here 3-4 times. Love having a game cafe in DTR. It’s a cozy spot with a decent selection of games.
I would never come here hungry. They are phoning it in as far as food goes. Most stuff seems frozen and thrown in the microwave. They definitely put more effort into their cocktails, and have some beer options. Service is kind of lackluster. I get it’s winter and slow, but you just gotta greet people and make them feel welcome. They don’t really offer to help with games in my experience. Or seem excited to be there. I guess that’s the trade off for not paying to play.
So, I can recommend coming here for a casual game night with some drinks. Especially if you’ve got a set group that doesn’t need help picking a game. But if you want more games, better food, or great service, you’re better off going to one of the many other options in...
Read moreWe found this place near our hotel last night…our plans fell through last-minute, and we ended up here almost completely by accident. I’m 44 years old, and have never played Yahtzee. Not only did we get that fixed last night, but I found my new favorite place in Raleigh. The vibe is low-key, nobody is in your bubble, and the service is just perfect…I never felt like I was being pursued, but the minute we needed something, we were being taken care of. I didn’t review the food because I didn’t eat, but what I saw looked great. The boss Ciara (or Sierra) glanced at me approvingly from her comfortably curled-up position on her bed behind the bar. This is a very affordable, very welcoming place. Try to book a table ahead of time if you know you’re going, as this place doesn’t suffer from a lack of popularity. We’ll be...
