Imagine it was 1954. Elvis Presley just started playing on the radio, on tv 'I love Lucy' was making America laugh, and in Sacramento Shakey Johnson opened his first Shakey's Pizza Parlor. Shakey's has been around for a long time and that says tons about the quality of the restaurant and the food. When I was in college Shakey's was a big part of my life, I was going there 2 to 3 times a week. I went there to eat my lunch (and sometimes dinner). I went there to hang out with friends (and dates). And sometimes, I studied there. Shakey's in a way got me through school and I will always remember those times. The food at Shakey's is amazing and every time I go there, I kid you not, I always get three things. I always get the pizza (it's a pizza place after all). I always get the chicken. And I always get the mojo potatoes. In my head, my meal was not complete without all three. And getting one without the other two was simply inconceivable. Several weeks ago, I treated my sister and her kids to Shakey's and when the younger ones tried the Mojo Potatoes for the first time their faces lit up like firecrackers. Their eyes were wide open and their mouths dropped. The potatoes were the first thing to come and the first thing to go. It simply amazes me how a simple side can be the star of the show, but it was. If you've never been to a Shakey's, go. The food is great (the Mojos are amazing). The staff is friendly, and the restaurants are large and clean. Check...
Read moreI had a great experience at Shakey’s Pizza recently, and it wasn’t just the food that impressed me—it was the outstanding customer service, especially from Levi, the assistant manager.
The food was everything you’d expect from Shakey’s: fresh, hot, and satisfying. The classic pepperoni pizza was loaded with flavor, the Mojo potatoes were perfectly crispy, and the fried chicken was juicy and seasoned just right. Everything came out quickly and tasted amazing.
But the real highlight was Levi. As the assistant manager, they set the tone for the entire team. From the moment we walked in, they were welcoming, professional, and on top of everything. You could tell they genuinely care about the guests and wants everyone to have a great time. They checked in on our table personally, made sure our order was perfect, and handled everything with a friendly and upbeat attitude.
It’s rare these days to find someone who goes above and beyond in customer service, but Levi absolutely did. They made our visit feel valued and enjoyable, and that kind of leadership doesn’t go unnoticed.
If you’re thinking about stopping by Shakey’s, do it—and if Levi’s on duty, you’re in...
Read moreI would give this place a 0 if I could!!!!! I will definitely never go to this location again!!!! I went with a birthday party last night, I am allergic to everything under the sun and asked a special request of the simplest dish. Cheese, marinera sauce, and vegetables. I cannot have bread and I was sooooo hungry! The manager flat out told two waitresses to tell me NO! I was at another Shakeys pizza that morning for another birthday party except this time in REDLANDS! Management was incredibly wonderful there, and as per my request they did it no problems no questions asked and charged me in replacement of another dish!!! NO PROBLEM!!! I can't believe that something as simple as not making a simple dish (as if I were asking for it for free or something?) my family and I refuse to go back there ever or schedule another party there! Mind you my sister spent close to 1,000 last night for a third year in a row. And they couldn't make a simple dish??? NEVER GOING BACK!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!! NEW MANAGEMENT I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS...
