On the way in seeing the 'Okay' food safety rating on the window made me concerned. Even though the door dinged as we entered we waited multiple long minutes before we were acknowledged and waved to a table. The person taking our order seemed distracted and possibly hard of hearing since she made us repeat the order and was practically yelling when she spoke. The food itself was the only thing that wasn't a negative part of this experience. The food was tasty and hot. However we had ordered two thai teas that were never brought; and since nobody came to check on us i was unable to bring ut up until she came with the check. She did in fact charge us for them, and when i mentioned them she took my card and came back with a single tea. I had to again go up and ask for the second one. We saw others seated after us that got very similar disappointing treatment. Definitely do not recommend this place. We won't be returning. I don't know how it has such a good rating, maybe we just came on a off day?

A cozy bistro, quaint decor and lighting. Great options especially for vegetarians. The tofu servings were generous and fresh. We had the spring rolls and egg rolls for appetizers both were fresh and mildly seasoned. The fresh Thai basil stood out. Sauces were ok. The Tomkha noodle soup was delicate and portion was good for 4 adults. The red curry and ginger vegetables were delicious too. Wish Thor rice portions were bigger though. Service was quick and everything was piping hot and fresh. Will return to try more. It’s a small place but we did not have to wait for a table. Best Thai food experience I’ve had in the Seattle area.

The Pad Thai was quite tasteless, the beef especially and I always ask for five stars on the spice level when that’s the maximum and I can’t taste any spice at all. Pad Thai is a hit or miss it seems but this time, unfortunately it was a miss for me. The staff was friendly and the interior of the building looked inviting, however mine was takeout so I can’t speak to that too much. Also, I’m not sure if this is common for the area, but no utensils or soy sauce was provided, however I checked the back and went back for soy sauce at least and had forks in the hotel from other takeout

Starting with the ambience as in my reviews for other restaurants in Seattle Area.

The Bangkok Basil restaurant is small restaurant with maximum accommodation capability of not more than 30 people at the time. It seems like an family run restaurant. Tables are placed in a very well manner to properly utilize the available space. Restaurant interior decoration justifies its Thailand touch. Dish of the day were made with crayons on Black paper and can be seen hanging at different places, this is a new concept to me and i like it a lot. Ambience wise i find this restaurant very welcoming.

Now coming to the food so as i am an vegetarian i wasn't expecting much dishes available for me but to my wonder i was wrong. However going by the restaurants name i ordered Bangkok Basil with Tofu Zucchini(Tofu mixed with Zucchini sauce) & Jasmine white rice, spice level - 2(Medium). By the time my order was served, i noticed that restaurant has perfect amount of natural light coming through its large glass window on one side which for me make it even more appealing (visited it for lunch). My dish was served and i hopped into it as i was feeling really hungry, wait time was 10-15 minutes. The taste was really nice, Spice level was perfect as i have requested it was medium. In some other thai restaurants i have noticed that they try to serve you really spicy food whatever the request you have made for, but not here.

The food was really good, perfectly cooked. Everything was cooked rightly - Mushroom, Avocado, Onions, Tofu & Basil. Rice was complimenting the dish perfectly.

Overall i would highly recommend this place to everyone, Go at least once Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian. I am highly convinced that their non-Veg would also have been great.

Ending my review...

We used to love this place. We come just for the person and the atmosphere most of the time. We went back after a long time. This would be like pur 10+ visit.

Our order came with HUMNA HAIR in it. When we asked to replace the meal, the waiter got visually angry. No apology ,atleast for manners.

Our meal was replaced. No utensils and paper towels provided. We had to go and ask.

We had our toddler with us, one of us left outside, as soon as the child started getting impatient.

WHILE the other person was still eating , the table was getting cleared with the food flying all over. And bill was practically thrown at the face. We left with a note to be little more friendly and left no tip as the service was super bad.

And this waiter or owner or whomever came outside and told us we should not come back because out child was ill mannered and made a mess in the table. Did I say he was a 18m old AND we cleared most of his mess and kept everything away from his high chair. He was just eating a broccoli. AND told us that we should tell people not to come there. And showed a middle finger. That was like WOW really. For clearing a messy table???

If he is a new owner, he should not have bought this place and spoiled the place for lot of us. I would never go and will make sure nobody I know goes there.

For someone who have been there before, cleanliness rating went to good from excellent as per...
